About Josh Teresco

We bought our first VW Camper Van here in 2011 and pretty quickly realized that it was the perfect choice for laid back, fun Island cruising. They're easy to drive and park, super roomy, versatile and fuel efficient. We found ourselves pulling up to some of Oahu's most beautiful spots, picnicking, relaxing, hanging out and often enough, popping the top and spending the night. When we had the opportunity to buy a second van, we jumped at the chance. We knew it would be fun to rent it out and share the experience with like minded people. Today we have 3 cool old Classic VW Campers. We offer 2 for rent and the third is a special personal project. We've been sourcing all of the rare parts necessary to put together a four wheel drive, TDI powered, Vanagon Westfalia Camper. I just can't think of a better way to get the most smiles per mile than cruising Oahu in a van like that.

Why Josh Teresco chose Kahala

The Camper is available for pick up and drop off during most daylight hours, 7 days a week. Let us know what time is best for you and we'll do our best to accommodate. When you're ready to get in your camper, we'll take just a few minutes to show you how everything works and then you'll be on your way. At the end of your booking, you'll return the van to the same place you picked it up. Plan to give yourself at least few minutes to checkout and make sure you haven't forgotten anything. We'll be meeting at a quiet Park right around the corner from my house and adjacent to Diamond Head Crater, a major local landmark.

What makes this recreational vehicle unique

It is illegal to do curbside pick ups for hire at Honolulu international Airport unless the vehicle is a registered taxi or shuttle driven by a licensed chauffeur. Please beware of individuals who offer to do so.

Amazing way to explore Oahu

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in "Orange Kind" was amazing! Josh was extremely helpful and friendly. We've been to Oahu before but usually stay in a hotel. Staying in the van was much better! We got to explore the entire island and wake up to the sounds of the beach! Make sure you look into the camp grounds prior to coming. We didn't do as much research as we should have and didn't book bellows in time. My husband and I share a birthday and it was the best birthday celebration we've ever had! Such a rad adventure! It was so nice to have the option to cook anytime. We also always got the best parking because we woke up close to the beaches :) we will definitely book again and recommend everyone else to book with Josh! The best experience!

What a great way to see and stay on Oahu

  • 5 of 5

When we saw this listing we immediately knew we wanted to stay. Josh was very friendly and accommodating. He thoroughly went thru how to use everything and all the accoutrements he had neatly stored, including lantern, beach chairs, snorkel gear, pillows and linens, tent (which we didn't use), French press!! coozies, cooler etc. How great it was to wake up to fresh Kona coffee and watch the sunrise over the beach. While perfect for two you can accommodate 4 and he provides a tent for additional room. We cooked with the Westy's stove and an additional 2-burner camp stove provided. We used coolers with daily ice runs to keep our beer and food chilled as the frig's on the Westy's don't get too cold. We stayed in two different campgrounds over our 4 days and drove all over the island.

Our only regret was not being able to stay longer. Josh, thank you so much for providing us this incredible experience. We had many jealous friends and will recommend this to everyone we can. PS we liked your seat covers so much we ended up buying the same from Costco for our jeep to remind us of our stay.

Josh is a life saver!

  • 5 of 5

We had booked through another agent and sadly it did not work out. We scrambled and with less than 24hrs we were blessed to find Josh and stay in this classic gem! We took a cab from the airport to a beautiful neighborhood in Honolulu where he meets you with the van and gives you a quick run down on how to rock this old beast (popping the top, working the fridge, and stove, etc. etc.) We made a quick stop at Whole Foods (which is just down the road) and stocked up on good food because there was no need to eat out with the full kitchen that the bus provides. The van is an old classic and is a bit loud with it's diesel engine and you get passed by everyone on the highway so don't have plans to get anywhere fast. However, you must also be prepared for smiles and waves every where you go because this van is in such great shape it's hard not to stare in awe at it. It was very clear he cares about this vehicle because it was spotless and ran great! We had such a great fives days going to the Eddie surf competition, camping, and playing in the sun that we plan on booking with Josh again in the future.

Fun way to travel!

  • 4 of 5

Loved camping at Malaekahana and Bellows beach campground! The beaches were beautiful! I liked cooking breakfast every morning in the camper.. It was a good way to save money as eating out was getting expensive for us! We are from Canada and the exchange rate wasn't to good for us this time around!

A Rad Way to Experience Oahu!

  • 5 of 5

Nothing beats falling asleep and waking up to the sounds of the ocean. Just steps away from the sand! Staying in the super clean, and well stocked Orange Westy made our stay on Oahu unique, relaxed, and helped us appreciate and experience Hawaii in a new way. You can't help but smile when you get inside! Pure Fun! I stayed here with my husband and 3 and 5 year old. This would also make for a fun all girls get way. We saw a few other camper vans on the island and this one was by far in the best condition. Popping the top to set up beds is super easy. The owner Josh thought of every detail. The "kitchen" is set up for making yummy meals. Salt and Pepper, a chopping knife, paring knife, french press for your morning coffee, on board. I also appreciated the hand broom to sweep away some sand. The boogie boards are ready to ride. There is a set of Beach towels AND shower towels. We were glad to have a beach umbrella and two folding chairs to take to the beach. Snorkle gear! All you'll need to pack is your swim suit and sunblock! Actually there was even some sunblock on the bus! Don't get a condo, and PLEASE skip the resort. Book a Westy! When we come back we will totally book this Westy again!

We appreciate your help in taking care of our Camper as best as possible. Not only are these cool old Vans now Classics but they are also quite expensive to repair and maintain. Many components are costly, hard to find and in many cases irreplaceable. We ask that you try to treat it a little better than your average rental car. Our vans look amazing for their age but things are just a bit more fragile than they used to be. Items like knobs, levers, handles, latches, hinges, zippers, etc. all need to be given a little more patience these days. Nevertheless, its tip top and ready to take you on the tropical island getaway you're after.
