Inside, the Craftsman style house is bright and inviting, boasting original built-in features and window details, a working fireplace, and gorgeous oak hardwood floors throughout, as well as natural Marmoleum in the kitchen and bathroom. While this home exudes its original charming character, it has been fully remodeled with all new plumbing and electrical and was green built with eco-insulation and exclusively non-toxic materials. In addition, the property features an alarm system on the windows and doors, and the street parking out front is under video surveillance for added security and peace of mind.

Look forward to spending your downtime in the cozy living room, where you can lounge on the couch with a good book or watch one of the DVDs from the extensive movie library for entertainment. When you're not dining out at one of the area's fantastic local restaurants, whip up your favorite recipe in the well-equipped kitchen, and gather around the quaint breakfast nook to enjoy your meal. Later, step outside to the covered front porch with a nice glass of California wine. You'll find it easy to relax in Oakland's pleasantly mild climate!

This neighborhood offers the ideal combination of suburban seclusion and urban convenience and is no more than a 4 block walk from the area's best attractions - not even European cities offer this mix of amenities in one central location! You and your companions will love spending the day at Lake Merritt, where you'll experience urban life at its best - relax by the water have a barbecue, watch people slacklining, or play a variety of sports. You'll also enjoy strolling through the local farmer's market, which takes place close to the property and is a major attraction within the area. Additionally, the Saturday market attracts visitors from near and far, offering a fountain and jumping castle for the kids, food vendors, live performers, and bustling booths.

This house is minutes from an abundance of amazing local restaurants! Arizmendi on Lakeshore is always a temptation with their famous pizza slices and homemade soups - order an espresso with your scone and enjoy the people watching from an outdoor table. In the evenings, the Grand Tavern features some of the finest Northern California beers, wine, and culinary delights. If you're in the mood for seafood, people regularly travel for Midori Sushi on Grand! The range and number of food establishments here is truly impressive, but if you were to run out of places to eat nearby, just travel down Grand Avenue in either direction to the next neighborhood - Piedmont Avenue, Temescal, and Uptown are all readily accessible without having to drive far!

If you're looking to experience the Bay Area to the fullest, take a day trip to San Francisco, which is within easy reach of the house. A short 10-minute car ride will bring you to the shoreline with million dollar views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, and the surrounding islands. You can also access the vast East Bay Regional Park system by bicycle or a 15-minute car ride. Cute, Well-Maintained Property

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I stayed six nights. The house is cute, clean, and in a very good location. Potential renters should be aware of a few things: the queen-sized bed is very hard; parking is on-the-street and very often a good block or two away. The location is in a hilly area, which means that to walk anywhere can require a steep up and downhill trek. Anyone with a disability should be aware of it. We were never able to park in the same block as the house, for instance. The television only works for playing videos, if that is of interest. There is a very nice clothes washer and dryer. Oakland has some sketchy areas, but this area felt safe. The owner is a nice person, and accommodated our needs and questions.

Anniversary trip

  • 4 of 5

Our stay was without a glitch. The house is perfect for a couple- close to beautiful Lake Merritt for pleasant walks and a fabulous Saturday Farmers Market. The location allows for quick access to freeways to other parts of the Bay. The owner responds quickly to guests' needs.

This was a cute , well-maintained Craftsman unit, attached to the main house where the owners reside. Julian was a very responsive and generous host. The location is perfect for exploring the Grand Lake district of Oakland and easily accessible to SF by casual carpool or bus. We would definitely rent this again and would recommend it to friends.

The craftsman style home we rented was very convenient to activities in the Oakland and Piedmont California areas as well San Francisco proper. The apartment had a living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. All rooms were very well equipped with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. A washer and dryer was also included in the apartment. We enjoyed our stay there but would have liked a more comfy bed as the one there was extra firm.
