great stay

We really enjoyed our stay in Nigel's flat. We were met by Helene who was very friendly and gave us lots of information about the flat and the area. There is also a lot of useful information material in the flat. We liked the simple but tasteful decor and the well-stocked kitchen. There are good transport links into the centre of London and it is also easy to walk to the Thames and the city centre. We can highly recommend this flat.

Great, Comfortable Stay!

The stay at this property was great. The property is well-maintained, clean, and has everything one needs for overnight stays. While we didn't do any cooking, the apartment has all the dishes and utensils, including stove and microwave for cooking. The biggest plus about this property is that it has a washer and dryer and an extra bed - a sofa bed - which allowed me and my dad to sleep comfortably in two separate beds. The sofa bed appears to be new and is in great condition. The apartment is in a safe neighborhood with easy access to the Underground. We had an easy time getting around the city. It didn't long to get to any of the central locations within London for sightseeing. The flat is located right around the corner from a Mini Tesco, which was very convenient for buying snacks and food. The flat is located near a pub so it can get a little noisy at bed time if the patrons are outside talking loudly.

Nigel takes good care of his property. He was very responsive to all of my questions prior to my London trip. He has great customer-service skills. He even met me at the flat at check-in to hand over the keys and answer all of my questions. He is very easy to work with. I would stay here again if I come back to London.

Very clean and great location

Very comfortable flat.

This flat is everything it is advertised to be. Clean, well equipped, and well located. The flat has a very nice sleeper couch and a very comfortable bed in the master. Everything was close, and the Thames was a short walk! We enjoyed our stay immensely.

Excellent property and location

We found the condo very well equipped and matched the description on Home Away. The washer and dryer was a bonus that we definitely took advantage of. We are a couple that enjoy walking and found that the location was very central to all the attractions and museums that London is famous for, we did not need to use the transit system for much of what we did. Thank you Nigel, our trip was fabulous.....

A cozy, well-located flat

Located near a couple beautiful parks and delicious pubs, this cozy and clean apartment was within 25-40 minutes walk of (or a quick ride on the tube to) most of the major London tourist sites. Upon arrival, Nigel kindly greeted and provided us with information regarding the utilities in the apartment, the nearby supermarkets (2 and 10 minutes walk), and the local eateries. All in all, it was an excellent base for us (3 adults) for our week-long vacation. We'd definitely recommend staying here (and will likely stay here again)!

A stunning first floor one double bedroom apartment in the heart of centrally located, vibrant Kennington.

Kennington is one of inner London's best kept secrets. It’s an enclave of brick houses and pretty squares containing some perfect examples of Georgian architecture. The most famous is the idyllic Cleaver Square, where locals play boules in the summer next to the lovely historic Prince of Wales pub in the corner.

Kennington is so central that it is reputed to be within earshot of Parliament’s Division Bell, and has been a popular place for politicians to live since Westminster Bridge was built in 1750. The genteel atmosphere and recent regeneration now also draw families, while young professionals in all fields love the central location. Kennington remains a diverse area with a mixed population and feels full of life.

Going out...

Eating

You can enjoy a wide range of cuisines here, from Persian to Eritrean and beyond. Portuguese cafes and tapas bars of the South Lambeth Road are well known for their authenticity. The Lobster Pot on Kennington Lane is regarded as one of London’s best French seafood restaurants, the daytime Ragged Canteen is an excellent vegetarian lunch spot and the upmarket Brunswick House close to Vauxhall serves up an imaginative seasonal menu amid recycled furniture, antiques and curios.

Drinking

There are plenty of great pubs and bars in the area. Locals love Cleaver Square’s cosy Prince of Wales, or try Zeitgeist, a German gastropub offering regional beers, schnitzels and burgers. The Pilgrim Pub is a popular spot to catch live music or watch sports.

Culture & arts

Kennington is excellently placed for some of the best cultural experiences in the Capital. It’s a mere 15 minute walk to the South Bank, with its theaters, galleries and concert venues, while the Tate Britain is within walking distance, too. Closer to home is the quirky Cinema Museum, a popular venue for film screenings and talks, and there are two longstanding local repertory theaters, the White Bear Theater and Ovalhouse.

Heritage

The Imperial War Museum and Garden Museum can be found here, with the popular tourist attractions of Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament only a half hour stroll across the river.

GREEN SPACES

If the tiny hidden squares and greens that make Kennington special aren’t enough for you, Kennington Park is a Green Flag award winning green space. The old common, a site of political demonstrations and public executions, it was enclosed in 1852 becoming an urban park where you’ll find mature trees, an old fashioned flower garden and cafe, as well as playgrounds and tennis courts.

Visit the farm animals at nearby Vauxhall City Farm and check out a range of workshops, as well as a horse riding center.

Transport

Tube: You have the choice of four Tube stations. On the Northern Line, Kennington (5 min walk) and Oval (10 min walk) stations are both in Zone 2. Nearby Lambeth North (12 min walk) is on the Bakerloo Line and is in Zone 1. Vauxhall (Zone 1/2 - 10 min walk) is on the Victoria line and is also a mainline station

Buses: The area is extremely well connected. Direct buses from Kennington serve all parts of central London (Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Circus, Trafalgar Square, Houses of Parliament etc.). The 360 takes you to the world famous museums in South Kensington .

Cycle: For many locals, cycling is their main mode of transport. It only takes 20 minutes to cycle to Trafalgar Square and, even if you don’t have your own bike, there is a Boris bike docking station right outside the flat. Cycle Superhighway 7 from Morden to the City runs through Kennington.

Road: Once you’re out of the traffic on the busy A3, it takes under an hour to reach the M25, or 40 minutes to get to the M1 if you’re heading north. The apartment has it's own gated allocated private parking space.

Airports: Heathrow and Gatwick - 45 minutes.
