The house was comfortable and provided the space we needed to host family from Sacramento including four grandkids. The kitchen was adequate although mainly just basics are provided but they were sufficient. The beds were comfortable, loved the fireplace and the view from all the windows. It had a great deck but it was too cold to enjoy. My only complaint was the inadequate instructions to find the house. I arrived at night and it was nearly impossible to find. There were no instructions to describe the location of the driveway and after driving up and down the road six times, I concluded I wasn't going to find it without help. The numbered signs I found were just before and after the number of the address I was looking for so it was a mystery. I finally found a house with lights on and was happy the woman was willing to open her door to a stranger. By happenstance, I had no cell phone so she let me use her phone to call the local contact. The contact was a little helpful in describing the driveway as extremely steep with slits and she thought it the second drivel way (it was actually the third one). I went to the steep one I had seen earlier and fortunately for me, briefly put on my high beams. I just happened to notice to the right of the driveway I was thinking of trying, was a small steep driveway with slits. I knew it was the one she had described, so started up it. It was a 70 degree angle or more. About halfway up there was a fork and by luck I took the left fork which was correct but again, there were no instructions about it. If you rent this house, ask for explicit instructions to find it. I had to then inform all the family how to get there or no one would.have found it. Glad I did though because we had a wonderful time.
5 stars: cabin is beautiful; has a great rustic feeling and high ceilings inside; yard is a peaceful woodsy setting; great setting for the dog; plenty of floor space for families to add an air matress or two
4 stars: kitchen was not very well equipped for cooking (appliances, knives, pots and pans) and there were only three sets of towels total for three bedrooms / six people
3 stars: driveway entrance is hidden from the street and not well marked; driveway is very steep and not well lit; i imagine it would be difficult for some cars to get up the driveway during a rain or snow storm
We had a lovely TG holiday in this cabin. Just when we thought we'd be relaxing the whole time, we got a little antsy and just by bringing the trash to the curb we got all of our cardio exercise in!! We had everything we needed and the home was open, welcoming and clean.
Thank you for a nice stay.
Great cabin and layout. We hope to come back again.
Great Northern California vacation. Cabin was more than expected. Secluded but not remote. Close to stores and one of the nicest golf courses, Alta Sierra. Cabin was roomy with 2 clean bathrooms and 3 large bedrooms. We are at the breakfast bar and the dinning table. Dishwasher and laundry made the stay easy. Steep driveway but not an issue.
The cabin was exactly as advertised. Great location, very serene and comfortable. A/C came in handy as well. It was clear the moment we entered that the owner did not have a very good company taking care of the property. Kitchen floor had to be cleaned from something that spilled. The refrigerator was turned off as well. Next day got up to make breakfast and the coffee pot had coffee and mold in it. Tried to use the broiler pan as well but was put away not having been cleaned after previous use. That night went to use the BBQ and the propane tank was empty with no backup. The cabin in my opinion was poorly furnished. No real table to sit at and eat, the living room glass table was badly chipped with dangerous edges for children. Kitchen utensils were minimal at best. Our biggest issue was that we placed several calls to the # given to address any issues. We never got a call back and we were there for 5 nights! Apparently the caretakers were out of town?? The owner did respond to our emails but what could he do? I would not recommend this property.
