Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, Sleeps 10 No Cleaning Fees

Relax and enjoy the sounds of nature in this 2 bedroom, 3 bath cabin on the banks of the Ocoee River.

The cabin sleeps 10 and offers something for everyone. The balcony off the sleeping loft is the perfect place for morning coffee while gazing across the river at the Cherokee National Forest in the distance; or maybe that last glass of wine in the evening as you marvel at the countless twinkling stars. There's a wraparound porch on the main floor with rocking chairs and a porch swing for relaxing. From the walkout basement, you'll find a hot tub waiting for you after a day of hiking or whitewater rafting. In the back yard there's a playground for the kiddos and a deck perched above the river with a fire pit close by for those chilly evenings when s'mores are in order. Inside, there's a wood burning fireplace and 2 TVs with cable and wireless internet.

We regret that all furry friends must be let at home. The owner is allergic to animals and uses the cabin often.

About Cindy & Larry Tipton

We are grandparents who wanted a place for our nine grandchildren to enjoy.

Cindy & Larry Tipton purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Cindy & Larry Tipton chose Tennessee

We chose this property because it is located along the part of the Ocoee River where the water level is controlled by the dams. In the morning the water is only ankle deep and the little ones can play safely. There's even an island about a 100 yards upstream where the older ones enjoy exploring. About 3:00 in the afternoon, the water begins to rise and it's time to bring out the floats.

Great home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

Ocoee River's Edge is a really great vacation rental! The ages of our family members ranged from a 7 month old to teens to a pair of 62 year olds. The home was even better than described. The kitchen, bathrooms and laundry area were well stocked. We had the Keurig and the electric griddle going full blast every morning. Other rentals I've used have had mismatched dishes and utensils. I really appreciated that there were plenty of matching dishes, glasses and tableware for all. The dishwasher was the best one I have ever used. Outside the middle deck got a lot of use whether it be grilling a meal, playing games at the table or just swinging and conversing. I loved viewing the stars and the kids loved chasing fire flies. The fire pit at the back of the property was used for s'mores night. We all enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and the Ocoee River at the back of the property. We had issues with the hot tub one day so I called the owners. Cindy came right over, worked on it out in the rain, and remedied the situation. We were able to be back in the hot tub later that night.

There are many things to do in the area not far from the house which is another plus to this property. The teens and grown children went whitewater rafting twice. We all hiked Benton Falls and several went fishing. Cindy told us where we could park up river and float back down to the property. So we tethered our floats together and took a leisurely trip we all could enjoy down the river.

Two side notes: If you plan on doing a lot of your own cooking, you might want to bring a few plastic food storage containers for leftovers. We went through a lot of plastic storage bags since we only found one large and one small food storage container.

Also be aware that the hanging plants around the deck have an automatic watering system so use caution if leaving items on or close to the railing. (The dove nesting in the hanging plant across from the kitchen window didn't seem to mind.) You can turn the water off at the outside faucet hookup. Just remember to turn it back on.

I would definitely use this rental again and hope to be able to return in the future. You won't be sorry if you choose this rental for your next vacation!

Wonderful family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We thouroughly enjoyed our short family vacation here! Pictures do not do this lovely home & beautiful property on the river justice! We had everything we needed & more. This home was very clean, comfortable & welcoming. The weather was rainy during the majority of our visit, but we enjoyed spending time with our teenage & adult children & 2 grandchildren. There were a few brief breaks in the weather when we were able to take our kayaks to a local boat launch & kayak back to the house, build a fire & make s'mores. We were also able to get in a whitewater rafting trip. Knowing the forecast was not going to be very favorable for outdoor activities during our stay, Cindy left passes for the Children's Discovery Museum for the little ones! This was a very thoughtful & much appreciated gesture which they were able to enjoy on the way home.

We will most definitely return!!!

We loved it. Very comfortable and clean. The hot tub was great and all of the patios were fun to sit on and look at the scenery. We loved wading in the river when it was low. Fun time!

Fantastic "Home away from Home"

  • 5 of 5

Just stayed a week at this lovely cabin in Benton. Hard to beat this one! Everything was just as previous reviews had mentioned. The property is beautiful and the house is awesome......stocked with everything you need. The bed was more comfortable then mine at home! Plenty of room, loved having coffee on the porch swing and the porch was very spacious.......we had 14 for dinner almost every night and there was plenty of room to eat outside. Can't say enough......you will not be disappointed staying here. Will definitely be back some day. Being from Wisconsin we sure did enjoy the beautiful spring weather! Thanks so much Cindy and Larry! Glad we were able to meet you!
