Traditional yet modern, Casa Caterina is a typical stone house in Ostuni's 18th century district on a quiet street populated by locals 5 minutes walk from Ostuni's main piazza and the medieval historical centre. It's in 2 floors with 2 bedrooms (1 in an alcove) plus a queen size sofa bed. It can accommodate comfortably 5 adults or 4 adults plus 2 children.
As with all the homes in this charming district of Ostuni, it is made of thick local stone which keeps the place cool even in the heat of the summer. A/C is available for your extra comfort.
Carefully renovated, its large rooftop terrace has a view of Ostuni's hills and the Adriatic sea and is well-equipped with table, chairs and lounge chairs, and is designed to take advantage he beautiful Puglian weather. It has also easy access to a spacious and modern kitchen so you can take advantage of Puglia's fresh produce in the comfort of your holiday home.
Beautiful original tiles add to the charm and originality of this place in Ostuni center.
Parking is available on the street in front of the house. A luxury in Ostuni.
Lovely apartment only a few minutes' walk from the very centre of Ostuni, which we would very much recommend as a base for exploring Puglia. On-street parking is available close-by, and it is possible to park right outside if you have a smaller car than we were given. It was really nice to be able to sit out on the roof terrace.
We didn't need to make any use of the air conditioning while we were there, the thick walls of the building keep it cool at night. Whilst it is a quiet street, we did have to keep the glass door to the balcony closed at night as the local residents still need to start their cars at times earlier than we wanted to be woken. With it closed there was practically no noise.
The apartment was very clean and the kitchen is well-equipped, certainly enough for making pasta or risotto, and there were basic condiments, oil and vinegar, plus dried pasta etc that I assume other guests have left behind. Some other apartments we've stayed in seem to throw everything out that's left behind, and no one wants to start cooking only to find there's not even salt and pepper. There's also an oven so clean that it can hardly ever have been used. I did have to Google the instructions for the Ikea induction hob, as disabling the child lock was non-obvious.
Some things worth pointing out even though they are perfectly clear from the photos and didn't come as a surprise: The stairs up to the kitchen and roof are very steep, I wouldn't recommend that anyone with even mild mobility issues, or young children, stay here. The bathroom is very cramped, we were glad to get to the hotel we stayed in afterwards to have a proper shower without sitting down. The views from the roof are only really of the rooftops of Ostuni, you're not going to be seeing more than a glimpse of the sea or the old town.
Finally, Giuseppe who met us was very friendly, spoke excellent English and I'm sure he would have been very helpful had we had any problems at all.
Appartamento bellissimo e comodissimo al centro. Terrazza meravigliosa. Abbiamo anche trovato sempre parcheggio vicino. Forse era un periodo favorevole. Giuseppe è stato gentilissimo e disponibile
