What makes this bungalow unique

I love it's proximity to all the places I like to go; downtown, hip strip, University, The Rattlesnake Wilderness area, Pattee Canyon, Sentinel, Mt Jumbo and all the nearby rivers.

The house is lovely and has great energy and the yard is peaceful, quiet and beautiful.

Awesome house, great location

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for me and my 2 teenage daughters! The amenities such as walk in-shower, new stove, granite counter tops, great beds etc were top notch. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and opening the windows at night. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and well equipped with enough towels and blankets. The location is very convenient to the University of MT, food store, downtown and restaurants.

We will stay there again when we return to,Missoula😄

House is nice, the owner, not so much.

  • 1 of 5

After several VRBO rentals and many other house rentals, this was our first negative experience. We rented this home as a place to have our family gather as we were in town for our daughters graduation. The owner was upset that we had people over and explained that I should have disclosed this to her. I disagree. I rent homes in order to have a place to invite people to join us for dinner etc. The rules of this house did not state "no parties" as some VRBO homes do. We had a total of 12 people over on Saturday, 4 of which were over 80 years old, 2 were in their 50s and 6 were college age. However the "party" consisted of us sitting in the front yard talking and having a few beers. We were quiet, clean and respectful of the property. This did not stop the owner from harassing us about everything from wearing shoes in the house or parking in the driveway, or incensed that I had brought my drone out to take a photo of our guests from the air. Her exact words were "And oh my god, you have a drone!". I am not sure how flying a drone over the street to take a photo from the air affects the owner but she was not happy about it.

The house itself is very nice and if you stayed here you would be perfectly happy from a lodging standpoint, but if you intend to have guests over, you might want to reconsider. This experience has caused us to rethink VRBO in general. I don't rent an entire house just so my wife and I have some place to stay. We enjoy having friends and family over for dinner and to visit.

Things to consider when deciding to rent this house. Shoes are not allowed in the house. The owner even stuck her head in the door one day to check to see if we were in compliance and made comments about our elderly parents having shoes on. We were told that the driveway is for walking and request that we park on the apron. Guests are discouraged and the owner has no problem stating as such in front of your guests. The owner and her dog live in the basement. You do not have full privacy. There is another room attached to the house that was being rented and occupied. Again, you do not have the property to yourself. Owner is offended by drones. The backyard was in very bad shape (did not match the photos). I would have no problem with any of these things if they were stated on the listing, they are not. Lastly, we left this entire property just as it was given to us and the owner refunded all of our damage deposit, confirming that her complaints were unwarranted.

Owner's Response: I have been in the vacation rental business for the last several years and have had very positive experiences with my guests. The 37 reviews prior to this one accurately reflect how people experience the Slant Street Bungalow. Each May, families have stayed at the Slant Street Bungalow to attend their child's college graduation. I had no problems with previous guests and their small celebrations. Because this house is in a quiet, residential neighborhood, these guests' nightly parties of more than a dozen people and their graduation party in excess of 25 people were unwelcome, as was Mr. C wanting to fly his drone from the property. The only time I contacted the guests in person was at their request. As all previous reviews reflect, I am very respectful of my guests' space. As a result of Mr C's stay, I have changed my listing to more clearly reflect my policies of not allowing large parties or undeclared guests.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Rosemary's bungalow in the slant streets! This home is gorgeous, clean, cozy, and comfortable. We were able to relax and unwind for the week- exactly what we needed! The location is perfect, close to downtown but in a quiet neighborhood. Griz Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Rosemary was an awesome host while we were there. We were a little worried about her living in the basement since my friends and I like to stay up late to drink Jack Daniels and chew tobacco. I'm sure we were louder than her average guest but even so, she was very hospitable. It was a great place to stay and very well located. I would definitely rent again.

Staying at Rosemary's house was perfect for my husband and baby- enough room to be comfortable but cozy as well. The neighborhood was quiet and safe and we could walk everywhere we needed to go. Rosemary was very accommodating and helpful.
