|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
Come stay at Sea Esta, The home has been gutted and done all new, fabulous huge kitchen with gas stove, fridge and dishwasher all stainless steel. Full laundry in lower level. The home sleeps six maximum with the lower set up as a private suite with it's own bathroom and the recroom, great for getting away from everyone. It also has it's own patio.The upper level is open concept overlooking the water and decking
We have a number of sour orange ,mango ,sapodilla, avocado trees on the property .
The house has an open view of the water which is only 200 feet away with a concrete deck where you can walk into the water for swimming or easy entry for Kayaking.
All the major restaurants are only minutes away, Tippy's , the Beach House, 1648 are all within 10 minutes. The home is situated centrally on Eleuthera for exploring and we are within 20 minutes to Governor Harbor airport.
We arrived in Eleuthera about 5 years ago and purchased a home on Windermere " Whatavue"that we also rent out, we love the island so much that we decided to purchase another property . We love the location , the water access and closeness to the marina and the home.
Patricia Armstrong or Gerry Armstrong purchased this villa in 2014
We sailed from Canada originally 30 years ago and fell in love with the Bahamas . The friendliness of the people, the water and the beaches are hard to beat anywhere in the world.
This home is private, great size for six adults, no children ,right on the water. close to groceries and liquor and wine. Best wine selection is at Bristol's on Cupids Cay only 10 minutes away.
First we spent hours deciding on the Bahamian island to visit and once that was done, we had to decide on where to stay. In the end we chose Eleuthera as the island to visit. Our choice of Sea Esta for a family vacation with our two adult kids could not have been more perfect. Gerry and Pat have a first-class beach house on a quiet road in a spectacular corner of the world. More than just the location, Gerry’s attention to detail made for easy travel arrangements and he familiarized us with island activities to attend and the best local conveniences. Sea Esta had everything we needed and certainly made for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. The location is close enough to all the amenities but also mid-island which meant that we were able to explore the snorkeling, caves, and other scenic sites from Current to Cape Eleuthera. We had never visited the Caribbean before, but we will be back and our sights will be set on Eleuthera with a hoped-for return to Sea Esta.
We almost hate to give Sea Esta a perfect review - we'd like to keep it our secret getaway in Eleuthera! But the truth is it was ideal for our needs and the owners and caretakers were completely delightful. The home has been completely redone with quality materials and workmanship. The layout was ideal for us. Two queen bedrooms upstairs with bath, kitchen and living area; one queen down with its own living area and utility room. We traveled with our 19 year old son who appreciated the privacy of his own suite and our 8 year old daughter who was right in the next bedroom from us so everyone had the right living space. My only caution would be for families with a number of small children. Access to the suite downstairs is by an outside stairway so if you need to put small children downstairs and unless your kids are old enough to trust with independence this could be an issue. Location is great with good swimming and simple snorkeling right out back. A few minutes to Governor's Harbour and surrounded by the best beaches and snorkeling spots all within a few minutes drive. The owners acquired a third kayak so our whole family could explore together and the local caretaker was totally pleasant and helpful during our stay. Living space is great with several outdoor areas for privacy and a refreshing outdoor shower. This is our second visit to Eleuthera and by far the best. Thanks Gerry and Pat!
My wife and two teenage kids (16) & (19) had a great time on Eluethera . We really enjoyed the home and the beautiful setting it provided us. With the water in our backyard and some kayaks, we had a lot of opportunity to get out and have fun. The house was very clean, nicely decorated and well appointed. We did a lot of cooking (fresh fish that we caught). One late evening we enjoyed the "planetarium like" view of the night sky on the comfortable lounge chairs on the deck. We were also able to do some snorkeling right off the rocks in the yard and saw numerous fish, a ray and generally had a lot of fun. Of course when we left the comfort of the home we ventured out to many of the great beaches, many of which where way off the beaten path so to speak. The house was approximately a 75 minute drive south from North Eluethera airport, the only thing I would change about the trip would be to fly into Governors Harbour airport which seemed to be only about a 20 minute drive. I would like to especially thank Gerry for his great hospitality in meeting us at the home to give us a quick tour of the place. I would recommend this home to anyone that is looking for a nicely located, well appointed, clean home with some really nice views and direct water access. It's only minutes from Queens highway and maybe 10 minutes south of the town Governors Harbor. The pictures on the website were spot on the house is even nicer in person, you have to see it to believe it.
We had a wonderful time. The snorkling off shore was great. The views were awesome. The accommodations felt like home. So comfortable we never wanted to leave. The all white decor made relaxing easy. We couldn't see our neighbours which made it feel like we were all alone. Minutes from shopping, liquor store, farm market and pizza place. A perfect home base to explore the island from.
We had a great week staying at Sea Esta! While booking the house, Gerry was quick to respond to correspondence and coordinated international money transfer. He answered all my questions prior to departure and offered great advice about getting to the island and options once there. Pat was actually on the island during our stay. She met us at the house, gave us a tour and explained the workings of the house. She was on hand all week to answer any questions we had and to provide us with everything we needed. It was great having her just a call away on the house's landline. The house itself has been beautifully renovated! We were a party of two so only used one of the upstairs two bedrooms but there is a 3rd bedroom, with its own separate entrance, on the lower level. The house provided many amenities in the kitchen, kayaks, beach chairs, cooler, dvds, wifi, and more. Our favourite part of the house was the cabana on the deck. We sat there many mornings and afternoons enjoying the view and breeze while reading or chatting. There is no cable or satellite TV if that is important to you. The only negative we could find was that the mattress was too firm for us but that is personal preference. Sea Esta is easy to access in any vehicle - exclusively on paved roads. Its location in South Palmetto makes it close to Governor's Harbour Airport. Attractions/Restaurants nearby we would recommend are: 1648 Bar and Grill, Tippy's, Barbie's in Tarpum Bay, Edwin Lake Turtle Reserve, Levy Plant Preserve, Ten Bay Beach, French Leave Beach, Ocean Hole, Ocean Fox Cotton Bay Diving and Da Perk. I would highly recommend renting a vehicle with high clearance e.g. SUV, truck or jeep. Most roads to beaches don't require 4x4 but the extra clearance is a must to avoid bottoming out! Plus, the main north/south highway has rough edges and potholes to maneuver at times. Groceries can be bought at Burrow's in Governor's Harbour or for more selection at The Market in Rock Sound. Eleuthera is a beautiful beach destination and Sea Esta was a great home base to use for discovering them! Thanks Gerry and Pat!
If you're looking to relax in a quiet private waterside setting then this house is for you. Eleuthera is QUIET and undeveloped -- just what we wanted. If you want a fancy resort and shopping you probably want to go to another island.
Pat and Gerry (owners of Sea Esta) are the consummate hosts and have thought of everything. The kitchen is modern & fully equipped -- coffee maker, blender, toaster, pots & pans, baking sheets, serving platters....even Tupperware for leftovers. Also has an outdoor gas grill. All the things you need to explore the island or hit the beach -- beach towels, coolers, beach chairs, snorkel gear, & kayaks. The house was recently gutted and rebuilt and is light, bright & comfortable with tasteful furnishings that match the beachy locale. We had amazing weather (80 & sunny) and started & ended every day hanging out on the expansive deck looking at the water - great sunsets! The outdoor shower is great and has better water pressure than the indoor showers (hint: use it in the late afternoon after the sun has warmed up the water - heaven!). Palmetto Point is at the mid-point of the island -- a great jumping off point for exploring points north or south. We rented a small SUV (highly recommended) from Stanton Cooper and drove the entire island. Lighthouse Beach is a must see (you DEFINITELY need a 4-wheel drive to get there). Had Double Bay beach to ourselves (10 min drive). Dinner or lunch at Tippy's (reservations needed) was enjoyable & loved the beach side setting & relaxed vibe. The restaurant at Frenchman's Leave was OK, but over-hyped. We cooked at the house more than we went out -- you can get fresh produce and breads from the Island Farm (5 min drive from the house), & and almost anything else you'd need from the market next to the Shell gas station in Governor's Harbor (15 min drive). The biggest grocery store is in Rock Sound (40 min drive). Spent one day driving around the north half of the island -- Spanish Wells (very clean, cute island -- can walk the entire island in an hour), checked out the waves at Surfer's Beach, Preacher's Cave (cool to see the cave, but not much to see), Harbor Island (was there 10 yrs ago & loved the deserted pink sand beaches --- SO disappointed now - it's crowded & over developed -- feels more like Florida and not Eleuthera :( Loved this house and highly recommend it. Can't wait to go back!
We are centrally located , within 10 minutes to Governor Harbor , for shopping, liquor and all the best restaurants.
