This is a lovely, comfortable home on a large lot in the village of Empire. Fenced in back yard with deck seating area and three-season front porch. Hardwood floors throughout the first floor and Berber carpeting in the bedrooms. Full bath upstairs and down with four bedrooms total; two with queen beds, one with two twin beds, and one double. Quiet village scenes from every window. No smoking, no pets.

Very friendly, beautiful area surrounded by Sleeping Bear National Park. Within walking distance of the beach on Lake Michigan and North Barr Lake with a newly renovated park, all only one block away. Many miles of scenic hiking trails and a newly finished paved bike trail which starts in Empire, winds through the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and ends in Glen Arbor. A VRBO treasure!

  • 5 of 5

I've been using vrbo for many many years and this rental was by far the best. It was completely spotless when we arrived. The rooms are huge! Even the bathrooms had room to spare. The floorplan was great for entertaining. The furniture was comfortable, plenty of seating. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of pots, pans, dishes and utensils. We had two babies under the age of two and the place even had a baby gate and plugs for the outlets! It was very kid friendly, not a lot of nicknacks or breakable antiques to worry about. Empire is a great walkable village. You can be at he beach in a short ten minute walk. The outdoor space is awesome, huge fenced yard so the kids could play. All in all the rental surpassed my expectations!

Ideal Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this home for the past 10 years, and for us it defines relaxation. The location is ideal, with a short walk to the beach and playground, and a shorter walk to the grocery and ice cream store. We love the big open kitchen, dining room, and family room, all with brightly colored walls. Mike and Heather always have the house in great shape when we arrive. The kitchen has all of the pots, pans, and utensils we need. The fenced in and shaded back yard is perfect for young kids, and for kicking back and barbecuing on the charcoal grill. The open lot next to the house is great for running around, playing frisbee or football. We consider this our home away from home and we look forward to coming back every year.
