About The Owner

I now live in Berkeley, but my family is still in Kona, and I visit often. This is such a wonderful house and location, and I would be happy to give you the insiders tips, just private message me to ask!

Good location, quiet, lovely sunset view.

  • 4 of 5

The house was very comfortable and well laid out for a family stay. A nice bit of yard and a view of the sunset.

The neighbourhood was very quiet but accessible to all amenities. The house had all the necessities.

Great option for a group vacation, we did have a tiny problem but the owner was in touch and it was solved in very good time which just added to the pluses of staying here.

Thanks, we enjoyed our stay on the Big Island VERY MUCH !!

Bucket List

One month in Hawaii - check! Amy was wonderful to work with, quick responses. A great vacation home as pictured. We were able to have our son's family join us for 10 days, plenty of room for six of us. Beach towels, sand chairs, etc. was an added bonus. Found Second Wave in the Alii Gardens Marketplace which is a great place to pick up extra beach gear. You buy their used items and return them before you leave and receive half your money back. The house is in a quiet location, but close enough to do my daily walk along Alii Drive to one of the best snorkeling beaches on the island. The house is nicely stocked. Since we stayed a month, we did a lot of cooking at home. Grocery shopping is close at KTA. We did stocking up and gas at Costco. Attended a performance of South Pacific at the Aloha Theatre. Fun evening and something that not many tourists do. Thanks, Amy, for sharing your home. Would love to do it again.

Impressed

  • 5 of 5

my wife picked this house and I wasn't completely sold. I wanted something closer to the beaches and ocean. Like usual though the wife was right. This house was perfect you was 5 minutes if that from snorkeling boogie boarding and all the beach activities however the house was in a quite clean neighborhood away from all the other tourist which was relaxing. The location is perfect. The house was CLEAN period. The stay here was awesome and I would recommend this home to close family and friends.

Great sunset views and spacious, but too hot!

  • 3 of 5

The house was very nicely furnished and in a great location. It was stocked with most things we would need. However the day we arrived the house was closed up and locked with no ventilation and well over 100 degrees inside. This is not the way I want to arrive Ina vacation to paradise. The house did have AC in the two bed rooms, but it was a daily surcharge to use which we were not aware of. We opted to not spend more money for the AC due to already paying a good amount of money to stay at this home. Because the house was so hot we spent very little time at the home. Even with opening the windows at night is was still very hard to sleep. Also none of the bathrooms had exhaust fans making them both a sauna every time you took a shower. Advise to the owners. If you have AC in your home and it's the summer time. Raise your rate to accommodate the operational costs of a home and have someone come by before check in and open up windows or turn on the AC. Guests want to enter a comfortable home when on a vacation to paradise. On a up note the home was spacious and had great views of the sunset.

Owner's Response: Hi Shawn, Thank you so much for your review and honest feedback, and so sorry it was so hot during your stay! We do make sure to notify every guest before booking that we have an optional surcharge for the air conditioning. We decided not to increase prices to cover it because some folks like air conditioning and some like ocean breezes. Since our electricity prices are extremely high in Kona, we feel those who do not use the air con should not have to pay for it. If you were not sure about using the AC, you can decide any time during your stay and just call or email us to arrange for it, we definitely want you to be comfortable! We do appreciate your feedback though, and will take this into consideration as we fine tune our pricing and amenities. Aloha, Amy
