Three generations of the Conlon Family of Iowa have enjoyed the Minnesota side of Lake Pepin for the past 10 years. The home is located in a quiet residential area of full time and second home owners mainly from the Midwest. The view from this home is restful and yet dramatic. The Wisconsin Bluffs across the approximately three miles of water beckon the tourist to come hither and explore. The up river direction in just a 15 minute drive means that visitors can explore historic Red Wing, MN. The Conlons have enjoyed many drives around the lake. Their love for the area is evident in home that is now offered for the first time to others as a Vacation Rental. The Wisconsin scenery is set against a backdrop of dramatic, high bluffs. The charming villages of Maiden Rock, Stockholm, Pepin, WI and Nelson hug the shoreline. The Nelson Creamery is a popular destination for cheese, lunches and an afternoon ice cream, especially on a hot summer's day.

The dramatic view of Lake Pepin and the Wisconsin side of the water is one of the most spectacular in the area. This is a view that a visitor could well pay much more in other parts of the USA
My husband and I wanted to visit some wineries in Wisconsin and Minnesota. We tried to find a location central to all the places we went to. The house was nicely decorated with a beautiful deck. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate for us that weekend and we couldn't enjoy the HUGE deck. It would be a great place to stay in summer and early fall. The family room has all windows along the wall facing the lake. Such a gorgeous view of the lake from inside! The layout of the bedrooms is very unique. Both bedrooms have a glass window that overlooks the downstairs. The only downfall was that there isn't a bathroom upstairs. We also were disappointed that we were unable to use the jet bath because there wasn't enough hot water in the evenings. Overall we would definitely recommend this property!
My wife and I wanted a nice quiet place to relax for a long weekend, and this was an terrific choice. The house is an excellent place to get away with some great scenery. The house was nicely decorated and furnished, and the kitchen was well stocked with anything you would need (except food, of course!). There were plentiful and plush towels and bedding, and the bed was super comfortable. There is a train track nearby which is frequently traveled, but it isn't terribly loud. The bedrooms and bathrooms are on different levels and one of the bedrooms has a pretty steep staircase. The deck is a great place to relax and bird watch as it overlooks Lake Pepin. There are several small towns nearby with quaint shopping districts and some nice local pubs to explore and get a decent meal, and Red Wing is only about 20 minutes away if you want a bigger town. Definitely a place that we would rent again for a getaway.
There are things to do year round. The area has abundant beautiful fall foliage. The Great River Road offers numerous wineries and tours. Lake Pepin is known for sail boating and fishing. Kayaking, tubing and canoeing also offer the visitor a chance to get close to nature. Winters mean cross country and down hill skiing at one of 3 area hills. A short drive to Wabasha means visitors can visit The ever popular National Eagle Center. This year round nature center provides viewing and educational insights about the ever popular Bald Eagle. A drive around the perimeter of Lake Pepin provides numerous spots for fun and entertainment. Nelson, WI is known for the popular Nelson Creamery, pleasant environment and a huge variety of cheese located in the deli
