Lake Quinault with boating, fishing, hiking is about 45 minutes away.
This is a special place to relax and enjoy the peacefulness or to explore wonderful nearby places.
Keywords: Bright, cute cottage in hilltop neighborhood in Aberdeen, WA, near Pacific beaches, Olympic Peninsula. 2bedroom, 1 bath, 2 queen beds.
I am Susan Hand. I live in Houston, TX. I love to travel the world and have explored many beautiful places but this area is still my favorite. I come here as often as possible.
Susan Hand purchased this cottage in 2007
I loved this cottage the minute I saw it. The energy in and around the cottage is amazing--very peaceful and nourishing. I bought in as a second home, loved furnishing it and taking care of it. I have wonderful neighbors across the street and next door who also look after it. I love this area. I always go to Westport for the beautiful beach, the winery, lighthouse. I also love Ruby Beach, Lake Quinault, the beautiful Hoh Rain Forest with the Hall of Mosses. I enjoy day trips to Seattle, Olympia, Astoria, Oregon on some trips. An overnight trip to Vancouver Island and Victoria, BC is also a wonderful excursion.
I love spending time relaxing, reading, doing puzzles at the cottage. I also love to explore the many wonderful places nearby.
My wife, dog and I stayed here for a weekend escape from the Seafair madness and it was heavenly! The home was well appointed with everything we needed and the location was perfect. We spent one day at Pacific Beach (45min drive) and Ocean Shores (30min drive) then watched the sunset in Westport (25min drive). The home is close to shops and restaurants in town but far enough from the traffic where all you hear is the wind and the occasional dog. And the nature.....Our first morning we were greeted by two raccoons and when we returned from the beach there was a mother deer and her fawn enjoying a snack in the lawn :-)
We couldn't recommend this home enough! Thank you, Susan for providing such a warm, accommodating home. We are looking forward to our next visit!
The peace and quiet of this little cottage was priceless! Located at the top of a hill overlooking the small coastal town of Aberdeen, it was the perfect getaway for two Texans wanting to escape triple digit heat. The temperatures during our stay in early August varied from 53 to 68 deg F every day.
We chose Aberdeen because of its proximity to Olympic National Park and the beaches of northern Oregon. These were both destinations that we wanted to explore, since this was our first visit to Washington. Aberdeen itself has its own charm and we enjoyed dining and shopping there.
We heartily recommend this property to anyone wanting to get away from the noise and distraction of city life.
The property was very clean and well kept and was stocked with everything we needed for our 3 days. My wife gathered blackberries each morning for breakfast from bushes in the backyard.
For local dining, we recommend Breakwater Seafood & Chowder.
We were very impressed with the comfortable, peaceful stay at Susan's property in Aberdeen. Couldn't ask for a cleaner, well kept facility in a guiet neighborhood.
House looks nice, location is nice. Problem is the house is falling down. I have been a builder since 1979, I know about these things. You have to walk uphill to go from room to room, even across a small bedroom about 8 ft. Wide. The doors swing open and stay they are so out of plumb. The floors are so out of level you can actually feel it while you sleep. Sure, as a professional, I am very sensitive. My 43 yr. old wife isn't and she struggled. In the dark, going uphill through the kitchen, downhill and sideways to the bathroom, then, uphill again to the toilet is quite the challenge. I looked at the framing in the basement and these issues are easily addressed. If addressed, this place is awesome! The owner is nice, easy to work with, accommodating. There is also a tripping hazard on the floor right in the middle of the house. Sure, there is a small orange cone there that you no longer even see after the first 10 minutes. Building codes in the U.S. make ANY step under 4" illegal cone or no cone. With the cone there, my wife and I tripped no less then 5 times, some painful. If repaired and you're looking for a quiet, centrally located place, this is it. We are very active people and found too many things to do in the 4 days we stayed.
Beautiful little house.......This was our first time staying at Susan's property.
Read great reviews and book a week right away.
I would recommend this cozy quant vrbo. It was well worth the money and we will be staying again next year.
A must do .... Ride the horses for an hour at ocean shores $20hr.
Westport Charters! Tornado.
This vrbo made our first year anniversary one to remember.
Thank you Susan!!
My sister and I have stayed in this charming house multiple times and it feels like home away from home. It is in a lovely neighborhood, surrounded by trees and plants. It is furnished very comfortably-in fact I wish my bed at home was as soft and fluffy. The house has everything one might need!
