About Susan Hand
I am Susan Hand. I live in Houston, TX. I love to travel the world and have explored many beautiful places but this area is still my favorite. I come here as often as possible.
Susan Hand purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Susan Hand chose Aberdeen
I loved this cottage the minute I saw it. The energy in and around the cottage is amazing--very peaceful and nourishing. I bought in as a second home, loved furnishing it and taking care of it. I have wonderful neighbors across the street and next door who also look after it. I love this area. I always go to Westport for the beautiful beach, the winery, lighthouse. I also love Ruby Beach, Lake Quinault, the beautiful Hoh Rain Forest with the Hall of Mosses. I enjoy day trips to Seattle, Olympia, Astoria, Oregon on some trips. An overnight trip to Vancouver Island and Victoria, BC is also a wonderful excursion.
What makes this Cottage unique
I love spending time relaxing, reading, doing puzzles at the cottage. I also love to explore the many wonderful places nearby.

Susan’s home was a perfect base for exploring Washington’s coast and the western side of Olympic National Park (a very scenic 1.5-2 hour drive). The house is very comfortable, spotless, and well-stocked, set amid a peaceful neighborhood surrounded by trees (maybe you’ll even see a few deer in the yard). Susan clearly strives to provide her guests with an outstanding experience. After doing a pretty extensive search, I believe we found the top spot in the region. Highly recommend.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate your kind words and are so glad you enjoyed your visit. Please come back again when you can.
Family time in the Harbor
We really enjoyed our stay in this super cute cottage. Everything was clean and tidy and we especially slept well in the extremely comfortable bed. The only thing I would mention is the little step down to the livingroom side of the house. It’s well marked but it could be a challenge for people who may not watch or pay attention to where they walk. My husband and I had no issue with it though. All in all it was a happy experience and I would absolutely recommend it to a friend.
Thank you for your review. Hope you can visit again in the future.
Clean, comfortable and charming
The location is great for exploring many parts of the Olympic Peninsula. Aberdeen is a quaint town and this location is nestled up on the hill. The beds were comfortable and the home was in good repair with a spacious bathroom. The two features that took time to get used to were the step from the living room to the dining room and the fact that the floors are sloped. Even so, I would stay there again any time.
One of the best features was the binder assembled by the owners. Not only did it have brochures and information, they had taken the time to write in notes about why they liked specific areas. We really enjoyed coming home to the cottage.
Thanks Denise for taking the time to write a review about your visit. I am glad you made use of the binder of information. We truly love the northwest and our little 100 year old cottage . It is the oldest house on that hill. It does have it’s quirks even though it has been restored several years ago.
We hope you do come back for another visit whenever possible.
My sister and I have stayed here several times and love it. The house is lovely and it has everything needed to make it a home away from home.
We hope you continue to visit our home
Very clean, cute and "extra"s in all the details:-)
We loved our stay here! Plush thick towels, soft/comfy bed, all kitchen items you'd need to help prepare meals, beautiful location/wooded back yard, provided lots of ideas of things to do, books to read, a quick trip into town and great jumping point to get to many hiking trails and beaches in the area. We spent a lot of meals at the 8th St Ale Restaurant in Hoquiam and had great beverages and a meal at Black Beard's Brewery in West Point(check for when open).
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for your review with comments on the things you enjoyed. Please come back anytime.
I have stayed at this house several times and it has always been lovely. Aberdeen is the perfect jumping off location to the Olympic National Park area as well as Astoria and the northern Oregon coast. The house is always clean and ready for relaxing.
Thanks for taking the time to write the review. We always appreciate our returning guests. Makes us happy to share our home with you.
Come back soon.
