Wonderful find

  • 5 of 5

What a great house in a beautiful setting, overlooking Clonakilty bay.The house was exactly as described. We had driven a long way and had a great welcome from Pat the owner, who provided us with milk, bread, butter and biscuits, which were very much appreciated. He went out of his way to help us and readily provided a cot and high chair. We have been coming to holiday in the area over a number of years and this house will definitely go to the top of our property list! A wonderful find!

Home from Home Ideal Property & Wonderful Location

  • 5 of 5

This was our 8th consecutive year to stay in the house as it is ideally positioned to take in the expanse and wonder of the ocean which has to be seen to be believed. The property is always well presented, clean, comfortable and relaxing with all the modern conveniences. The greatest surprise awaits when arriving at the bottom of the hill in Ballinglanna to witness the view ahead which is just magical. It is only fair to share with others this wonderful scenic and unspoiled area. We can only strongly recommend the location, view and this property which complements all so well

Our favourite restaurants are The Sugan & Mio's in Clonakilty and Deasys in Ring but there is much more to experience here and in West Cork. Once you have been here you will undoubtedly return

Owner's Response: Thanks John for your kind comments. Repeatedly we hear that it's the ideal location for a great holiday whether you are a couple or small group who want a romantic getaway, or just want to get away from all the busyness of work-life for a few days. Then again, with facilities and accommodation for up to 8 people, perhaps you have a larger family group and may wish to use it as a base for exploring the greater West Cork area, or perhaps to get stuck into some of the many active sports and leisure activities available in the general area. Whichever it is, the best way to start your day is to take breakfast on the patio overlooking the vast Atlantic ocean which quite literally is less than 100 mtrs from the front of the house. Complement this with a leisurely chat or a reflective moment perhaps while taking in the wonder and natural beauty of the sea and coastline. After breakfast plan some sightseeing activities to check out one of the many beaches, or interesting towns and villages or islands in West Cork, starting with Clonakilty town itself of course, or try your hand at one of the many sporting opportunities that are available close by, from fishing to golf to pitch and putt to tennis or horse-riding etc. After a quick shower to freshen up on your return in the evening, a nice meal in one of the many fine local restaurants will put the right finishing touch to your day, or simply dine at home and head out later to sample the beverage(s), music and 'craic' in one (or a few perhaps) of the fine pubs in the locality. During those unplanned moments lazing around the house, when television or reading just don't do it, as an alternative check out details of the passing marine traffic on the horizon using 'Shipfinder' on the in-house Wifi, and if you're lucky to be there at the right time, spot the dolphins and seals who regularly make an appearance in the sea at Ballinglanna.

Excellent property, would stay there again

  • 5 of 5

This house was an excellent find for us. We went down to Ballinglanna (only 7km outside Clonakilty, and 4 Euro to there in a taxi!) for a joint birthday party and had a great time. The house was very clean, had all of the amenities we could ever need, and the owner/caretaker were very courteous and helpful. There was a lovely beach only 5 minutes walk from the house and the views were spectacular. I'd highly recommend this property to anyone.
