About Tobiyah McEnerney

Though the owners are a young-ish family living and working in Port Townsend, we have an amazing property manager named Kelly who does all the hard work :)

Tobiyah McEnerney purchased this studio in 2014

Why Tobiyah McEnerney chose Olympic Peninsula

We chose this home because it is in what we believe to be the best location in Port Townsend, it has had many major improvements to it, and because it "felt" very right.

Notes:
This is a stunning, high quality and one of the few legal vacation rentals in Port Townsend. Your apartment is 2 blocks away from a bustling weekend PT Farmers Market during spring and summer. You'll find local food, crafts, a playground for the kiddos, music, and a lively atmosphere. We just go there to people watch ;) Across the street is the Ann Starrett Mansion, the most photographed house in Port Townsend and the "Queen of all Queen Anne's" architecturally speaking. Uptown Port Townsend is perfect for walking and viewing the historic homes dating back to the town's beginning. The apartment is a 2.5 block walk to Aldrich's Market grocery, amazing food at Lanza's, awesome coffee at 1012, and several other locally famous shops & restaurants and a movie theater. Historic downtown is a 3 block walk away, giving you access to a town full of buskers, artist, funky people, shopping, restaurants and a lot of good ol' fashioned charm.

Bright, cheerful, convenient, clean, a litle rustic

  • 3 of 5

Cute and cozy space, funky in a good way, not overdecorated or "false Victorian" like so many things in Pt Townsend. Very, very clean. Nice 5-10 minute walk to downtown (down a hill, then up on the way back). Comfy bed.

Nice kitchenette with two (not very powerful) burners, no oven. Good for breakfast or lunch, but not for making yourself a gourmet dinner (luckily there are great restaurants in Pt Townsend, try The Fountain Cafe!).

Only issue is that since the house is on top of a big hill, and the apartment is on the 3rd floor of the house, there is no water pressure in the shower to speak of. A bath was nice and hot with plentiful water, but some folks who rely on showers to feel clean might be disappointed.

We had a windstorm while we visited. Owners stocked the place with flashlights and candles and did the right thing and checked on us and let us know about these emergency supplies, but luckily we didn't need them.

Owner's Response: Hello Chelsea, So sorry about the lame water pressure in the shower. It has always been great. I checked it out and sure enough, it needed a new shower head and the pressure is back to jamming. Sorry it fell on you to discover this! The City of Port Townsend doesn't allow for proper stove/oven combos. It was a bummer to have to take it out and replace it with a dual burner and toaster oven (although we gotten the biggest one within reason in the hopes it worked almost as well as an oven). Our Best, Kelly and Danny

Top Floor, Top Drawer!

  • 5 of 5

This simple yet ample studio apartment is well designed for comfort and provides a very pleasant stay. The studio is clean, well maintained, and in a victorian building with two other apartments. Never a noise problem. Two flights of carpeted stairs, sturdy banister. Windows provide good daylight and the table has a view of the lovely victorian across the street as well as the harbor, four blocks away.

Port Townsend itself is a delightful small town with an excellent variety of restaurants, Japanese, French, Thai, and American. And there's a Safeway for basics along with all the bookstores, antique and gift shops, and cafes. Fort Worden, a state park, is right in town, and one can walk about everywhere. I especially liked the Larry Scott Memorial Trail, which begins at the marina and goes by the water for a mile, then about six miles into the woods. It was clean and well marked for walkers, bicyclers, and an occasional horse. I found exactly what I'd wanted.

Cozy and quiet

  • 4 of 5

I got away to give myself a retreat and enjoy some alone time. This apartment was perfect - simple, cozy, a really comfortable bed, and just a couple blocks from the neighborhood commercial district. I walked to Sweet Laurette for a lovely dinner, stopped for coffee on a morning stroll, and watched the deer settle into the yard from my window. The only drawback was that the unit had one lock - a deadbolt that opened from the outside for anyone with the code. However, I mentioned it to the property manager upon arriving and by the end of the day there was a second lock on the door. Thanks for the quick response! I'll be back for what may become my annual birthday retreat.

We will come back

The location is perfect! A short walk to uptown, and Aldrich"s Market, the Uptown Pub, and Lanzos Italian restaurant- which is just as awsome as it was 30 years ago when we ate there for the first time.

The bed was very comfortable, and the apartment was well provisioned. The kitchen was a bit tight, but did what it needed to do. No oven, but we didn't miss it much.

This was our seond stay at The Peoples House, and won't be our last.
