Cute but "basic", "mature", "termperamental" cottage
The house is in a great location- a little over a mile to the beach- which is off leash for dogs before 10am and after 6pm. It is a cute cottage with a pretty pool and beachy feel with white washed furniture. However, note that it is, to use the owners words, "basic"; "temperamental" and "mature". The light by the grill simply does not turn on so if you are grilling when it is dark you have to use a flashlight or a phone light. The "basic" bikes are rusted and flat tired. The bathroom is remodeled in a simple fashion (probably several years ago at this point) but tiny and the shower curtain at least when we were there had not been changed out recently. Checkout is at 11am per our agreement but cleaning crew showed up at 10am and owners simply responded with "sorry" and "please leave as soon as you can as we have another tenant"; "feel free to stay on the grounds". Owners left luggage/toiletry bags in already small bedroom closets. Owners are responsive in that they respond to phone calls and texts but beyond pool maintenance for which they have someone on call, they simply respond and say thanks for letting us know or that's just the way it is. Would recommend this home as long as you aware of the limitations.
Charming Cottage in a Quiet Beach Setting
The cottage is quaint and close to a great beach, as well as walking distance to a charming neighborhood market and farm stand. It's perfect for a small family or 1-2 couples. The neighborhood is serene and with an old-school Hampton's feel -- a place you could see yourself living. We had a quiet, relaxing vacation overall. The first 24 hours were a little off. When we arrived, the house had not been cleaned thoroughly. As soon as we notified the owners, they were quick to take care of it. We were also disappointed to learn that the pool lights do not work anymore. It's too dark to swim at night, but we made great use of it during the day.
An Idyllic Spot in Wainscott, East Hampton
I've returned to most idyllic spot in the Hamptons for the third time. It couldn't be better. Located on a quiet street, the beautifully landscaped home offers a tranquil, charming setting. While it is within a walk or bike ride to the gorgeous beach and town, it is also an easy trip to all the other Hamptons. But if you want to settle in, you may never want to leave. In the morning air, you step into the lovely salt water pool surrounded by a wonderful patio. Should you want to dine in, there is a beautiful indoor dining room, or dine in the balmy air on the other outside patio. I couldn't recommend this more highly. I look forward to another visit in the future.
My husband and I just finished a week out at this glorious home. What a treat. The house is adorable, the flowers were in full bloom (especially pink and blue hydrangeas!), and a lovely beach is nearby -- although I had a hard time leaving poolside. We had the best week. We booked it for next summer already!
Thanks Hamptons Maven. So glad you enjoyed our home. Looking forward to having you back!
Beautiful and charming
I stayed here early June and loved it. The house is all in white simple but very elegant.
You step out to a beautiful heated pool that is very private. There is not much traffic on the road so the house is very quite. Loved this house and you can walk to the beach too.... It's a little walk but easy to do. Would stay here again
This is a lovely find - a tranquil, sweet spot that's convenient to all the Hamptons activity and ocean beach. The street is quiet; the property is lush and feels much larger than it is; the pool and patio are perfect (outdoor shower and two dining patios are bonus treats). The house itself, while not large or new (exc bathroom which is new), is very comfortable and feels spacious, open and fresh, especially with its chic all-white decor. The owner was very reasonable to deal with. Definitely recommend and look forward to coming back in off-season too.
Thank you!!! October and November are particularly beautiful times here -- the leaves are changing, there are usually apples and even pumpkins to pick, and the restaurants and shops are very welcoming. We hope that you will return very soon! J and S
