Perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We booked this house with another family. We had plenty of personal space with the 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The house is located in Capital Hill. We were so close to everything! We walked to Whole Foods several times for food. We used Uber and Lyft several times to take us to our destinations. It was so easy and convenient. The house has been remodeled and is just beautiful! There is even a binder that you can look through to see the before pictures. The house is stocked with everything you will need. There is plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, and garbage bags. Bob sent lots of information prior to our trip. We parked 2 cars end to end in the back yard. The area felt really safe. The only downside is that the bunk beds are extremely loud with any bit of movement. We had two little girls that slept on them. Otherwise it was a really great stay. I would definitely stay here again.

Very convenient location.

House comfortable and conveniently located. Able to walk to Whole Foods, bagel shop, Giant grocery store etc. Having parking space is a great advantage, especially for families with children. Owner very organized and easy to communicate with.

Great Location & excellent accommodations

  • 5 of 5

We came for our son's wedding and had 3 couples besides ourselves. Everyone was pleased with the house. Number of bathrooms was a plus as was the parking for 2 cars. Although we did not prepare any cooked meals the kitchen was well equipped.

A good "home base"

  • 5 of 5

We selected this house because we needed several bedrooms and baths to accommodate a group of adults traveling to D.C. for an endurance event. While the layout of the bathrooms was a little peculiar, we're a flexible group and the house met our needs. We were able to fit two cars in the back, but I wouldn't recommend anything larger than a minivan, as it would be impossible to maneuver into the entrance due to the narrow alleyway. Yes, the place is a bit small, but we expected that for the area. The owner provided lots of helpful information prior to the trip.

Great location...a few quirks

  • 3 of 5

We were very excited to find this property when searching for places to stay in Washington, DC. 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in this price range is rare and with a family of four traveling with grandma, we needed the space. The "H Street" area is very up and coming with lots of restaurants and a Whole Foods and Giant Grocery store nearby, along with the new streetcar that takes you to Union Station, which is about 5 blocks away.

In terms of the house itself, it mostly fulfilled our needs. Four bathrooms was great - and they're all nicely done. We never fought for space to get ready, and the kitchen is well equipped. A few things to know: 1.Two of the upstairs rooms are very "tight." There is room for the bed and a tiny bit of space around it, but that's it. There is closet space in each room which helped. However, the biggest issue we had was with the bunk room (which both of our kids - ages 7 and 12). Each of kids originally wanted to sleep in that room, until they got on the bed. It has a metal frame and extremely squeaky springs making it essentially unusable. Our daughter only weighs 43 pounds and she could not lay on it without it squeaking. Loudly. So we ended up not using this room at all and using the futon downstairs instead. 2. The bedrooms are either upstairs or downstairs, so know that you'll have to use stairs to access sleeping areas no matter what.

We had one snafu with the oven not working, but after a few telephone calls with the owner, a resolution was made and it was not the worst thing in the world. He was easy to reach by phone and provided a lot of info for our stay.

Owner's Response: We had a problem with these tenants from the moment they moved in. We suspected they were looking for money. Regarding the stove issue I set up an appointment with a repairman for the stove, but they said they could not be there when the repairman came to fix the stove. I had to cancel the appointment and then offered them money which seemed to be what they wanted all along. It turned out there was nothing wrong with the stove. A review of our many reviews will show that we have never had a complaint about a squeaky bed. The resolution with the stove issue involved giving them money which was what we suspected they wanted when they said they couldn't be there for the repairman. They didn't mention that we gave them money hoping to make them happy. We have a policy to never go into a rental when the tenant is not there for obvious reasons. We would not rent to these people again.

Clean and cute

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our three teens for spring break 2017. Yes only one bath is near the three bedrooms on top floor, but that worked for our kids. Mom and dad were in basement and we each had our own bathroom! Everything was clean and nicely decorated. Owner was responsive and helpful. No issues at all. You could walk but it was cold; mainly we used Uber. Safe neighborhood. We'd stay again.
