Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms plus loft, Sleeps 7 , Child And Pet Friendly

Drive up the country road, over the roaring gorge of the Williams River, past farms and hillsides. Turn onto the long driveway, pass the sparkling pond. The air is fresh, the view is beautiful, and the house is comfortable. You have arrived.

Let the kids run off their energy in the huge, mowed lawn, while you read that novel in the hammock or go fishing in the pond. Take a nice nature hike, cool off in the pond, throw dinner on the grill, then build a campfire, roast some marshmallows, look up at the stars.

No kids? Grab a bottle of wine and some nice aged Vermont cheddar, sit in the Adirondack chairs, watch while hummingbirds come to the gardens and wait for deer to emerge from the forest. Cook a romantic meal in the well equipped kitchen, then snuggle up to a fire in the stone fireplace.

Inside, with classic and antique furnishings, you'll feel right at home surrounded by the stone and wood elements, while the art stimulates your mind and spirit.

This house is all that it should be inside, and more than you can imagine outside, with nature and opportunity abundant.

The Vermont Country Lodge: Our new favorite place

5 of 5

We booked the Vermont Country Lodge for a weekend getaway. Our goal was to spend a weekend in Vermont with a fireplace and a quiet place to write. What we arrive to was so much more than I imagined. It was dark when we arrived, maybe not the best way to get there, as the road in is narrow and bumpy, but it made for a wonderful next day.

From the massive stone step at the back door, to the gorgeous stone work on the fireplace and rough-hewn wide plank floors, I was so happy not to be in a cookie cutter hotel. The walls were adorned with pieces of art, many painted by the owner, as well as unexpected touches—a fishing pole, a didgeridoo, a dream catcher. We have rented other private residences and felt as if it wasn't ours or worse, wasn't very clean, this was so different. We both felt privileged to have this special place entrusted to us.

The post and beam elements and the way the cabin sits on the land communicate a sense of this place having been here for many, many years. Sitting on the front porch, swinging in the hammock and simply walking the grounds was the perfect way to unplug (that being said, the wi-fi worked like a charm). The wind moves through the leaves creating the most pleasant and calming swishing sound.

The bedding was incredible, with flannel sheets and weighty duvets. The eclectic furnishings made me exclaim in delight on more than one occasion. I simply cannot say enough good things about this place.

If your hope is to experience Vermont in a comfortable and memorable way, you cannot go wrong with this location.

Quiet and expansive

5 of 5

Thank you for the opportunity to rent your lovely home in VT. We had an awesome and relaxing time. It's hard and expensive to travel with four kids of all different ages (18, 17, 13 and 16 mths), so your home and amenities was exactly what we needed. Enough space for each of us to have our own space, internet for the teenagers, play some badminton, relax on the porch and allow the baby to wander around the yard without the fear of him going into the street. Even though the only thing we caught in the pond was a turtle we still had fun trying. It was perfect.

There are a TON of toys in the ottoman. We didn't notice them until the morning that we were leaving. I never thought to open it, I only opened when we were leaving to make sure the kids didn't put something inside and behold all the toys!

Quaint and remote but not too obscure

  • 5 of 5

This property is a true depiction as represented on Homeaway. The pictures of the place don’t relay the awesome feeling of actually being on the property. From the time we drove up and until we sadly left, we were wowed by our total experience of the quaint cabin, the hospitality of the owners (we had to call once with a question), the responsiveness of the owners, the cleanliness of the cabin and landscape, and the clear direction to get to the cabin. Booking online has always been a little bit of a crap shoot for us. We are never quite sure if the pictures and description match up. In this case, the experience we had far exceeded our expectations. There are no words and pictures are not sufficient to relay the feeling of being there. We will definitely rebook again for our New England trip in the future.

Perfect Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I just had the pleasure of staying at Mike and Brandi's beautiful VT home with my husband and twin 7 year old girls. Everything about this place is wonderful. The girls spent hours catching newts, frogs, and fish in the pond. We enjoyed the butterflies and wildflowers in the upper field. The porch and hammock were perfect for relaxing. At night, we enjoyed s'mores by the campfire and laid out on the sprawling lawn for star gazing. The property and house are gorgeous and it had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. I only wish we had stayed longer!!

Little wonderland

  • 5 of 5

I shared this comfy house with my husband, dog, and 4 year old. It felt perfect for one family, with beds to spare. What I loved most were the grounds. The pond is full of frogs, and there are hummingbirds in the gardens, and my daughter - who I'd never seen interact with bugs before, started a "bug zoo" - to watch the crickets and fireflies. It was exactly the kind of scenic, tranquil, completely private property I longed for. The owners were warm and helpful in all our interactions. I will definitely return, maybe to sled the sloping hills in winter!
