About Christie Kent

We love to travel within the US and abroad, often using VRBO for our own travel bookings, most recently in the Exumas.

We are an active family, enjoying the many things to do in the great outdoors of the Woodstock/Barnard area. Skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, horseback riding and swimming are among our favorites.

Christie Kent purchased this cabin in 1997

Why Christie Kent chose Eastern Vermont

My husband grew up in Woodstock and we couldn't imagine a better place to escape from our busy life in Boston. His parents live at the property next door and are the caretakers of the cabin, ensuring all your needs are met.

We got engaged here on the top of Mt. Tom and have created many priceless memories in this idyllic setting.

What makes this cabin unique

Our cabin is private, yet within a 15 minute drive to the town of Woodstock, Quechee, Mt. Tom and Suicide Six.

There are plenty of activities to do right outside the cabin. You are welcome to use our snowshoes, canoe and chairs/floats etc. to swim in the pond. We are a short and beautiful walk away from Lime Pond.

There are numerous wonderful restaurants and seasonal activities to enjoy. We are happy to suggest different dining options to you. They range from upscale to casual family pizza restaurants. Some

activities include the summer concert series at Suicide Six, The Chili Cookoff, The Covered Bridge 1/2 Marathon, Visiting the Mt. Tom Farmers Market, Billings Farm, The Woodstock Farmers Market.....

Glamping and beyond!

  • 5 of 5

The property is beautiful and unique. The house is situated on a hill overlooking the large, clean, swimmable pond. There was a large fire pit that we did not get to use. For families, it offers a unique paradise, like camping but with the comforts of home. Since it was late August, the waterfall was not gushing, but seeing stars with no light pollution, and hanging out on the deck provided alternative pleasures. The house itself is very comfortable, and we got used to the taxidermy decorating the walls. The kitchen was well equipped. We lacked for nothing! The peace and natural beauty was such that we had no need for TV or DVDS. It was great having internet however, and we were able to use our cell phones through Facebook Messenger. The bedrooms are cozy but fine. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to go back someday.

Owner's Response: Hi Dassi- Thank you for staying with us and for leaving a review which will be helpful for future guests. We are so glad that you and your family enjoyed your "glamping" experience in Barnard. It gives us great pleasure that you spent your evenings enjoying the fresh air and stargazing on the porch, one of our favorite things to do. Hopefully you will stay with us again during another time of year when the waterfall is gushing and take advantage of the fire pit too. Best, Christie

Beautiful getaway weekend in Vermont!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful weekend our family had at your place in Vermont. Super cute cabin, better in person. My husband enjoyed fishing on the lake every chance he had. Loved listening to the waterfall while relaxing on the deck. We enjoyed going into Woodstock for a little shopping and Quechee for the Hot Air Balloon Festival. Thank you.

Beyond expectations!

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and I eloped to Woodstock, VT during the month of May and we stayed here with our 2 kids. It was very well kept home and the updates were nice. We loved sitting on the porch watching the waterfall right in front of the house, and the kids loved sitting on the hammock, playing with the toys and watching the movies. This was the most relaxing trip we've taken in the past few years and we would definitely stay here again. Best of all, there was internet! There is practically no cell service in the surrounding area so for any type of a connection to the outside world this was a life saver.

This place is amazing. AMAZING!

  • 5 of 5

We drove right up to the property in some pretty driving snow. Despite that, it was well lit, plowed and they had left the door open for us. Stayed with another couple and we were both warm (very warm actually), relaxed and just put at ease by the property. They worked with us to fit us in despite a tight time line. Would stay there every time.

Also, Woodstock is amazing. Bummed we didn't get to ski Suicide Six (down the street) but it wasn't open yet.

Owner's Response: Hi Robert- We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at the cabin with another couple. Thank you for your flexibility in adhering to the check in and out times which allowed us to squeeze in your visit. It's wonderful that you got to experience VT with a fresh covering of snow despite traveling through it. Hopefully you can stay again in the future and experience Suicide Six, as it is a great little mountain with trails for every level skier/snowboarder. Thanks for taking the time to write this review. See you next year?! -Best, Chrisitie

Description of Property is an Under Statement!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! What a wonderful place! Description was everything stated and then some. Have to give this vacation spot a 10 out of 10, even though Home Away only has a 5 point system. Immaculate, every thing as described. Would just caution a person with stair difficulty to be weary of this home. As picture depicts, home is up on a hill from the parking area and has a spiral staircase to bedrooms. Listening to the water fall and the babbling brook were relaxing and walking about the pond was great. Owners family is near by and offered wonderful advice about the area and did a quick check in to see if everything was okay. If you want a place to rest and truly relax, this is the one for you. Woodstock is within a 10 - 15 minute drive so there is plenty to do in the area if you choose. It was nice to have a combination of a quiet, restful place and availability to get out and shop, visit a maple syrup farm and take a stroll in Quechee Gorge. Will try to be make it back sometime in the winter for some snowmobiling, skiing or just another respite. Thank you for sharing your home!

I appreciate your mention of the hillside and the staircase, as some guests with limited mobility may find them difficult to navigate.
