About the property

1 Bedroom, sleeps 6 with enclosed porch & loft. Private beach & amazing sunsets.

After your stay at A Sea Glass Beach Cottage, you will fall witness to “the way life should be”.

This little gem of a cottage offers a true coastal Maine stay with a private beach just 50 feet from the porch. A Sea Glass Beach Retreat is located on the desired and beloved Pemaquid Trail. It is one of the first cottages built on the trail with a cathedral style pinewood living room with open loft. Here, you can sit and relax on the adirondack chairs while sipping your morning coffee and watch the lobsterman haul in their traps from John’s Bay. During the day, take in local attractions such as visiting the Pemaquid Lighthouse, board the Hardy Boat Puffin cruise off the famous Shaw’s Fish & Lobster Wharf, unwind at the sandy Pemaquid Beach or spend your day collecting sea glass, rocks and shells from your own private pebble beach. A child’s paradise. Visits to nearby coastal towns of Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset and Camden are always fun too! Make sure to return to your cottage to catch glimpses of seals sunning themselves on the rocks at low tide and witness breathtaking sunsets. Fall asleep to the sounds of the waves.

A Seaglass Beach Retreat is a great location for launching kayaks/canoes and is a one-bedroom seaside cottage. The bedroom has a full-size bed and two twin beds are set-up on the sunny waterside porch. There is a comfy new sofa-couch in the living room with a twin bed up in the open loft for individuals over the age of 10.

Hypoallergenic dogs considered for additional pet fee.

Excellent place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The house has a wonderful feel like home vibe as soon as you walk in.The view from the backyard is great. The sound of the waves is very soothing and the location is great.Just up the road and to the right is a small grocery store with fresh baked goods and everything else you might need for your stay. The house was very clean when we arrived and the people walking and biking on the quiet paved street that it is on are friendly and fun to talk to.Using a charcoal grill was also fun.I would highly recommend staying there. We stayed at the Seaglass Beach house for the weekend and had a wonderful time. I stayed with a friend and our four children. We slept comfortably. Our two girls loved sleeping out on the porch and having the sound of the waves put them to sleep. The kids loved waking up in the morning and walking right out to the tide pools, where we saw crabs and snails and we were pleasantly surprised to see a seal on the rocks one morning. We watched many different kinds of seabirds ( the binoculars in the house were a great help). We loved watching the lobster boats come and check their traps while eating breakfast. One day we took the short walk down to the sandy beach where the kids splashed in the water and built sandcastles. We took the short drive to have excellent fresh seafood from Shaws Wharf one night and we ate out on the deck. We also took a Hardy boat cruise from the wharf another day to visit Monhegan Island. It was our second time visiting the island and we can't wait to go again. We did a great hike, saw lots of birds, and ended our hike at the Island Brewery. On our ride to the island we also had a whale sighting and a puffin sighting. Another short ride to Pemequid Lighthouse is well worth the views. I recommend a relaxing weekend at this Oceanfront house!

Perfectly fantastic

  • 5 of 5

Everything was perfect, the only thing I wish is that I had longer to stay. The house is absolutely charming! From the minute I walked through the door, I felt so comfortable; everywhere I looked there were so many personal touches that said “home”! I walked out on the beach every day, and every day I found some sea glass. Your home lived up to its name! Each day I came in the pockets full of treasures from your beach. Falling asleep to the sound of the surf was purely perfect! The house is well equipped; everything I needed was there; it was the most restful and relaxing vacation I have had in years!

I have some of the greatest sunset pictures I have ever taken; the sunsets from your beach are stunning! It is indeed a most restful and magical place.

A cozy home away from home with a great beach area

  • 5 of 5

"We loved our stay at Sea Glass Beach Retreat. It was such a relaxing and fun vacation for our family. The cottage was so cute and homey and we spent hours finding treasures of sea glass on the beach. The kayaking was great too. Thank you for sharing your home with us this week."

A working time-out!

  • 5 of 5

Although we went to the cottage to help prepare it for guests; we had a wonderful and peaceful time near the ocean! We had our daughter-in-law and grandchildren with us and the children had a great time looking for sea glass with their cousins. To be able to sit and watch the sunset is so quiet and peaceful, that we look forward to going there again next summer! Being there seems to melt the pressures of everyday life!

About Jennifer Mitchell

Born in Maine, I am the 3rd generation to own this spectacular cottage along John's Bay on the desirable Pemaquid Trail. The location was picked by my great Aunt who built the home after serving in the war as a nurse. I have fond memories of visiting my Aunt and my mother who lived year-round at the home. As a child, I would spend hours collecting sea glass on the private beach just 50 feet from the porch. Finding nuggets of blue sea glass is still a find today. Our children are now spending time at the cottage during the summer and have fallen witness to “the way life should be” - a far cry from our normal life in Silicon Valley, California.

Jennifer Mitchell purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Jennifer Mitchell chose New Harbor

Generations have had the opportunity to enjoy this cottage by the water. It's a bonus that I have to opportunity to share it with others - creating memories to pass along for families near and far.

What makes this cottage unique

You can't beat the view! From the front porch, you are 50 feet from your own private pebble beach. The sunsets are gorgeous - but don't just take our word for it - experience it! Watch the lobsterman haul in their traps while drinking your morning coffee or picnicking at the picnic table.
