After your stay at A Sea Glass Beach Retreat, you will fall witness to “the way life should be”.
This little gem of a cottage offers a true coastal Maine stay with a private beach just 50 feet from the porch. A Sea Glass Beach Retreat is located on the desired and beloved Pemaquid Trail. It is one of the first cottages built on the trail with a cathedral style pinewood living room with open loft. Here, you can sit and relax on the adirondack chairs while sipping your morning coffee and watch the lobsterman haul in their traps from John’s Bay. During the day, take in local attractions such as visiting the Pemaquid Lighthouse, board the Hardy Boat Puffin cruise off the famous Shaw’s Fish & Lobster Wharf, unwind at the sandy Pemaquid Beach or spend your day collecting sea glass, rocks and shells from your own private pebble beach. A child’s paradise. Visits to nearby coastal towns of Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset and Camden are always fun too! Make sure to return to your cottage to catch glimpses of seals sunning themselves on the rocks at low tide and witness breathtaking sunsets. Fall asleep to the sounds of the waves.
A Seaglass Beach Retreat is a great location for launching kayaks/canoes and is a one-bedroom seaside cottage. The bedroom has a full-size bed and two twin beds are set-up on the sunny waterside porch. Born in Maine, I am the 3rd generation to own this spectacular cottage along John's Bay on the desirable Pemaquid Trail. The location was picked by my great Aunt who built the home after serving in the war as a nurse. I have fond memories of visiting my Aunt and my mother who lived year-round at the home. As a child, I would spend hours collecting sea glass on the private beach just 50 feet from the porch. Finding nuggets of blue sea glass is still a find today. Our children are now spending time at the cottage during the summer and have fallen witness to “the way life should be” - a far cry from our normal life in Silicon Valley, California.
Jennifer Mitchell purchased this cottage in 2014
Generations have had the opportunity to enjoy this cottage by the water. It's a bonus that I have to opportunity to share it with others - creating memories to pass along for families near and far.
You can't beat the view! From the front porch, you are 50 feet from your own private pebble beach. The sunsets are gorgeous - but don't just take our word for it - experience it! Watch the lobsterman haul in their traps while drinking your morning coffee or picnicking at the picnic table.
Everything was perfect, the only thing I wish is that I had longer to stay. The house is absolutely charming! From the minute I walked through the door, I felt so comfortable; everywhere I looked there were so many personal touches that said “home”! I walked out on the beach every day, and every day I found some sea glass. Your home lived up to its name! Each day I came in the pockets full of treasures from your beach. Falling asleep to the sound of the surf was purely perfect! The house is well equipped; everything I needed was there; it was the most restful and relaxing vacation I have had in years!
I have some of the greatest sunset pictures I have ever taken; the sunsets from your beach are stunning! It is indeed a most restful and magical place.
"We loved our stay at Sea Glass Beach Retreat. It was such a relaxing and fun vacation for our family. The cottage was so cute and homey and we spent hours finding treasures of sea glass on the beach. The kayaking was great too. Thank you for sharing your home with us this week."
Although we went to the cottage to help prepare it for guests; we had a wonderful and peaceful time near the ocean! We had our daughter-in-law and grandchildren with us and the children had a great time looking for sea glass with their cousins. To be able to sit and watch the sunset is so quiet and peaceful, that we look forward to going there again next summer! Being there seems to melt the pressures of everyday life!
Our stay at the cottage was multipurpose - my husband was doing a few touch ups to the cottage but we were a;so able to enjoy the cottage and the beautiful area that is known as New Harbor, Maine. The cottage had all of the comforts of home which allowed us to have a wonderful time while there. We love exploring the surrounding area and all it has to offer.
Growing up in New England, I am drawn to the coast. I have visited this location many times over the years and never get tired of it. I generally sleep in the enclosed porch so I can hear the subtle lapping of the waves in the bay. I generally scour the shore for treasures before I go out to Pemaquid lighthouse, a short 15 minutes away. The interior is cozy, and the large window in the kitchen gives a great view of the bay.
I'll be back!!!
New Harbor is home of the Pemaquid Lighthouse. Take a cruise on one of the Hardy Boat Cruises to see seals, puffins, lighthouse and more. Dine at Shaw's Fish and Lobster Wharf in one of the few existing working boat landings. Pemaquid Beach is a walk away for swimming and sandy beach relaxation. Visits to nearby coastal towns of Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset and Camden are always fun too!
