George and Jean Walker purchased this house in 1997
Love at first sight! Cannon Beach is the quintessential charming beachfront retreat. Overflowiing flower baskets, charming boutique shops, gourmet restaurants and smiling people....We moved to Portland, OR with my husband's company in 1989 and soon discovered why everyone told us the first thing we needed to do was spend a weekend in Cannon Beach. We built our home here in1997, creating a 'home away from home' for our guests to enjoy the views and ambiance as much as we do.
Incredible views! Tea on the front deck to watch the sunrise, long walks along the beach. Our biggest decision is which coffee shop to visit. Then, it is off to an afternoon of golf and back to the deck for wine and cheese. Hiking up to Ecola Park through the old growth forest stretches our legs and our perspective on life. Watching the whales head off for the season and the pelican flocks stop to rest is a never ending sense of wonder at the cycles of life.
Our home is in a quiet area overlooking the park where elk graze in the early morning, away from the bustle of day visitors to the beach, but close enough for a short stroll to downtown.
This is the second year we six adults have gathered here for a perfect reunion. Each couple has their separate bathroom (nice luxury), and excellent, comfortable beds (you can hear the ocean). Walking distance to the beach and downtown. We bought fresh fish at the seafood market and prepared delicious meals in the full size kitchen. Enjoyed eating out at so many wonderful restaurants, too. This has been our favorite gathering spot - George and Jean have made this a wonderful haven to share. Excellent value!!!
It was a perfect girls' weekend. Close enough to town so that we could walk everywhere. Had dinner at EVOO, we would highly recommend it! The house had everything we needed. It was wonderful to sit out on the deck. Would have been better if some of the trees were trimmed to give a better view of the sea. It would be a great place for a family except they do not allow dogs. Owner George Walker was very hospitable.
Upon early arrival (prior approval) our 3 couples were pleasantly surprised that the house had a fabulous deck that you could see the ocean very well. This property is perfect for 3 couples as it has everything you will need. The living area is small but we utilized the deck outside for much of our gatherings. We were there for a weekend wedding and had plenty of room to get dressed up in wedding attire. We do recommend this place for relaxation and convenience to the beach and town. The only thing that was confusing was the parking. It would have been easier if we could have carpooled and only brought 1 vehicle but we drove over in 2 since we live in different cities. Overall the owners were very nice to work with from the initial contact of renting the house and we can say it is worth renting for short or long visits. I hope everyone else is as pleasantly surprised as we were. Enjoy!
We had a wonderful stay. The home is beautiful and well stocked with everything you could possibly need, some movies and plenty of games and puzzles for those rainy days.
A close walk to the beach, a beautiful covered porch and a bbq for our use. The little community theatre in town is great, we saw "The importance of being Earnest" the cast was great! Owners Mr. & Mrs. Walker and their son Erick were great! Can't recommend it enough.
We had a lovely stay in Cannon Beach. We got in lots of hikes, beach days and golf. Bruce's Candy shop was great and some lovely dinners. Went to the theatre and loved the play. The property was spacious and clean. They may need to do a little bit of updating on the bed linen as they don't quite fit the beds and pop off throughout the night. The owner George was nice. The property description is misleading as it is really a duplex shared with the owners.
A perfect house close to town, beach and park. Loved being in the trees with views of the ocean. Very comfortable, clean and quiet for our girls getaway time. Missing a few items in the kitchen, as we like to cook and eat in, but we made out OK. Landlord very accommodating and quiet in floor above. Had dinner at Newmans, excellent food and atmosphere.
Charming seaside village with beautiful mountain views
