About Darlene - A1 Vacations Customer Since July 1998

We have been serving renters for 33 years, with cabins of all sizes and from Sonora lodge to Pinecrest, Strawberry and Leland Meadows. From 1-7 bedrooms, sleeping 2-30, 1-4 baths. Great family fun vacation rentals. When we started 33 years ago the cabins didn't have TV, vcrs were new but we thought people would want the rest and relaxation of the great outdoors. The cabins had books and board games! There was no such thing as WiFi or cell phones. I still remember car phones in a bag in the 90's. Things have really changed since then. Now there's Verizon cell coverage. Originally I did it myself, booked, cleaned, hauled wood, shoveled snow. Then it became a family thing! My 7 kids grew up with the business. It's still very much a family business we all do our very best! 2093520161

Great Family Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a ball! The cabin is just what we wanted for our winter ski trip. Very clean and very cozy. The gas stove/heater provided an excellent source for drying our ski gloves. The kids loved the loft and the sledding hill out back. This is our second time staying at this cabin and will not be our last.

Nostalgic cabin in convenient location

  • 4 of 5

Stayed here over Memorial Day weekend with our almost four year old and eight month old. We had a good time and enjoyed the cabin with a few caveats. The cabin is in a very convenient location for visiting Pinecrest Lake, Sonora and other fun spots in the area. We were excited that the cabin was described as being close to the river, but discovered the "river" is actually a stream and the pathway to the stream was overgrown with plants (we weren't sure if they were posionous) so we didn't venture down. The back deck is nice, but there were quite a few mosquitos swarming around so we didn't spend much time out there. We would have brought citronella candles had we known, so this is an important thing to bring if you're visiting in the summer. Another thing we wish we would have seen a picture of in advance is the staircase in the cabin up to the loft. The staircase doesn't have a railing on the outside portion and is quite steep. I would definitely not recommend staying at this cabin if you have kids under 6-7 years old due to the staircase, as we definitely did not feel comfortable having our son use it and therefore didn't use the loft very much. For families with older kids, however, this cabin is a good pick. It's clean, has a handy kitchen with a lot of utensils for making all kinds of meals, and comfortable beds. Good location for experiencing the fun this area has to offer.

Owner's Response: Hi, glad you enjoyed your stay..the creek leads to the river. Anytime your near water there wI'll be mosquito. The road the cabin is on is paved all the way to the river. The cabin binder has maps and directions to many of the wonderful places to see, hike, etc. Or you can take the road clearly marked river on long barn rd. Just off the hwy. It's a nice walk. Guests do it all the time. My kids grew up walking to the river. Thank you for input and for being a fine guest. It was a pleasure to serve you. Thanks, Darlene

very pleasant stay — only minor quibbles

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is exactly as advertised. Cozy and perfect for our family of 5. Comfy couches with lots of room, close to the fireplace. Lots of DVDs and games. Toboggan run in the back yard with friendly, helpful neighbors.

I wish it had a dryer to dry out our snow stuff — but no one promised a dryer, so I can't complain. The property manager was available and helpful, even though we never needed her. She even emailed to alert us that there had been a power outage, which had been fixed by the time we got there.

Minor quibbles (which would definitely not prevent me from renting again):

1) The stair case is

• VERY creaky and noisy, as is the bunk bed upstairs. So when the folks upstairs get up in the night to use the bathroom (which is downstairs) or when your 7 year old gets up at 5:40 in the morning to check on the snow conditions, everyone will hear it.

• not to code, it seems, though I am not a building code expert. There is a handrail, but it's on the wall side, so the side facing the living room is wholly open, and uncarpeted, which seems risky. We were all fine, and my 1st grade child managed to not fall/slip/jump off, but I felt uncomfortable about it.

2) Again on the "I wish" list. I wish there had been a cheese grater. I know that is so petty. I warned you that these were minor quibbles, right? Maybe there used to be one, but it "walked away" as things tend to do in a rental house?

Anyhow, thank you for sharing such a warm, comfortable property. I would recommend it to my friends.

Very fun

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at this cute a-frame cabin in January 2017. The cabin was well stocked and comfortably fit our family of six. The sledding run in the backyard was a delight for our kids. The location is private and quiet. Management was great, too. They were there when we had questions and left us to enjoy our time otherwise. Our time at this vacation spot proved to be a very nice escape to the snow.

Great Place for a Getaway

  • 4 of 5

.We loved the place. Nice and clean accommodations. The only trouble I had was getting the bbq to light. In the description it said "walk to the river" and we couldn't find a river. There was a small stream in the back of the property down the hill. Maybe if we had come earlier in the season it would have had water in in- but it didn't during our stay. Other than that we had a great time. Thanks

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. The cabin binder has maps etc for your use. The Rd the cabin is on leads you to the river. You just follow it out. Also on the main rd. long barn rd. There's signs that show you the way to the river. I'm so glad you enjoyed the cabin. It was a pleasure to serve you. Darlene
