Fantastic week at Jan's lake home

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 10 had a great time at Jan's lake home! We loved having two large living areas upstairs and downstairs so there was room to spread out. It is also has two indoor dining areas, in addition to the beautiful deck, where we enjoyed several meals. The kids put many miles on the ping pong paddles downstairs. We loved the private beach area and were able to enjoy the lake every day.We had fun with the kayaks and paddle boat After all the fresh air during the day, we loved stretching out on the big sofa in the evening and watching the large screen tv, The home was extremely well equipped for all our needs. The special touches, like the welcome basket of goodies, were really appreciated! When there was a problem , Jan had a handy man come over to fix it promptly and checked with us to see that it was ok. We look forward to going back to Jan's next summer

We had a great time at the lake home, thought it was going to be a hot week with no air conditioning, but nice breeze most of the week and lots of shade. We thoroughly enjoyed the pontoon for fishing and cruising the lake. Our grandsons liked swimming in the middle of the lake several times! The view to the lake was awesome and saw many loons and a doe with 2 fawns! I'd recommend this lake home to stay for a vacation or get a way! Nice and close to town too!

Owner's Response: Dear Joyce and Gary, Thank you for taking the time to write a review and highlighting the features that you especially enjoyed! I'm glad that the 6 loons returned to feed in front of the lake home. That is so fun to watch and I'll keep a look-out for the fawns. Also glad to hear that you had a fish fry, foosball tournament with chocolate prizes, enjoyed the pontoon and water toys, and many great memories of family time together. Thank you and you are welcome back anytime! Jan

Jan's Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5

We were finally able to arrange (and afford) a family vacation for the first time in 25 years. The week we spent at Jan's met all of our expectations and we all enjoyed ourselves greatly.

We especially enjoyed the time we spent on the pontoon and relaxing on the deck overlooking the lake.

The home has all the amenities you would expect and more. Even a water softener, an unexpected luxury.

The home is very spacious so there is room for everyone. I think Jan has anticipated the needs of a wide variety of guests and if you need information she is readily available and there are local contacts for any assistance that you might need.

We hope to return to enjoy this property again.

Great family lake memories!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved Jan's place. Perfect for our family to celebrate time together. We made so many special memories. The option of being able to rent the pontoon at such a reasonable rate was a great amenity that everyone enjoyed. Grandpa, the true fisherman in every sense, was very pleased there was also a small fishing boat included. He was able to rent a small motor for it locally and was happy as a clam to be out fishing in it with a grandchild or two. We have stayed there several times and love it more each time we go. Thank you Jan for a great place to stay!

Great Views, Great Location, Great Fun!

  • 5 of 5

We spent the off-season here -- from toasty nights by the stone fireplace to lovely spring mornings, it was a pleasure. There is more than enough room for a large group or family, with multiple options for beds(King/Queen/Full/Twin)/bedrooms and lots of room to spread out between the large living room upstairs and the game room/family room downstairs. My boys had a great time playing pool and foosball and we also spent a fair amount of time outside trekking through the woods. The kitchen is fully equipped, there is a gas grill plus an extra frig in the basement and a gorgeous deck, so just bring your food and you're set! Location-wise, you can't go wrong -- 5 minutes to Eldens, 5 minutes to movies, 5 minutes to shopping and 5 minutes to downtown. In the summer, there are usually free concerts at the maritime museum and on the courthouse lawn -- both less than 10 minutes away. Jan has all sorts of water toys -- boats, kayaks, paddleboats -- there is something for everyone. Finally, the loons love to float by and, if you enjoy beautiful lake views or a gorgeous sunrise, this is the place for you!

Owner's Response: Dear SP, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such wonderful things about the lake home! I'm glad that the off season September to May rental worked out for you and your family. I appreciated not only knowing that the home was well cared for but also enjoyed as well. The spacious living room, large stone fireplace, rec room, decks, lake views, and loons are favorites of mine too. The best was hearing about your Christmas eve ice skating on the lake. What a picture perfect, forever memory! You are a wonderful, fun-loving family and I hope that you can return in the future. Thank you! Jan

Lake Home Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Awesome vacation! Morning coffee on the deck was a great start. The view of the lake immediately puts you in a relaxed mode. The deck is definitely a place to linger. Later morning we would take the kayaks out for a paddle to explore the lake. The pontoon is fabulous - very comfortable for multiple activities: we fished, watched eagles from a nearby nest, swam, and enjoyed the sun and a cold beer on the water. We even found a walleye spot! One night we sat out on the deck and watched the lightning from a distance storm. We also enjoyed sitting by the water at night in the adirondack chairs star gazing. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. The place is big so plenty of room to find a spot to have alone time. I enjoyed the space in the living room in the big comfy couch in front of the picture window with the view of the lake where I could read a book in the early morning hours. Thanks again! We'll be back!
