As a passionate action sports athlete I've found myself traveling and training in some unique places over the years. Snowshoe, WV has been just one of the great places I've been fortunate to spend ample time in. It certainly provided an amazing training ground for a professional mountain biking career! I now reside in Steamboat Springs, CO but still take great pleasure reflecting upon my roots back at Snowshoe. Stepping Stones has a strong place in my heart and will hopefully provide incredible memories for you too.
Sue Weinke purchased this house in 2005
This home was a joint project between my father and I which started construction back in 2005. I was a young college grad who had found a mecca for the many sports I enjoyed along with an exciting career in the Ski Resort and Bike Park industry. Having it all centered within the amazing backdrop of the Appalachian Mtns. wasn't too bad either! Slatyfork Farms, the development Stepping Stones is nestled within, offers an amazing community that is just enough removed from the hustle and bustle of the resort centre to provide an amazing amount of quiet and tranquil escape while still allowing quick access to the resort amenities. A perfect combination for those seeking adventure but also solitude.
Stepping Stones offers some amazing benefits for your stay in Snowshoe, WV. Offering 3 bedrooms and 3 baths there's plenty of room to kick your feet up and relax. To take advantage of the incredible views the home has been designed with many windows allowing you to enjoy the wilderness that surrounds as it was intended. A large deck welcomes relaxation along with an accommodation of social gatherings. Ample kitchen and community spaces keep the entertainment going along with a large detached garage offering convenience and shelter on those incredible powder days during the winter. Just as I have found over the years, I'm sure you will also find Stepping Stones to be an incredible home away from home.
This is the best place to stay when travelling to snowshoe!
We had planned on being in South Carolina for the week, but due to the hurricane we had to evacuate. We didn't want our family vacation to be cut short so we decided to try something different, and booked this home in the mountains. The pictures do not accurately portray how nice this property is. The area is beautiful and we've not missed the beach at all! This was all done last minute and the property owner was very accommodating. The house was very clean and has all the comforts of home. My husband and I have already talked about returning! We can't thank the owner enough for all her help, and also for providing a property that did not disappoint! We're so glad we got to experience this property.
Enjoyed a long weekend but after we got there wished we could have stayed longer. West Virginia is beautiful in the fall and this house allows you to enjoy the mountains and woods in a quiet setting.
This house was beautiful and just as pictured! We were so pleased and can't wait to stay there again! Owners very easy to work with and super accommodating.
There is so much to pick from when looking for a place to stay around Snowshoe resort. Somehow we landed on this gem, and we could not be more pleased. We frequent the mountain for snowboarding and have stayed in a variety of places, but with this one it felt like we hit the nail on the head. The place it's self is everything you look for and more, very nice and very clean, not to mention comfortable sleeping, showering, and cooking. We stayed the weekend of winter storm Jonas. In total there was 36-42" of snow! I think the plows came through every 6 inches. We were able to get out and get on the mountain to enjoy the fresh powder and we didn't have to pay the premium of being ski in ski out. Above all this, the owners are responsive, accommodating, and warm. They went above and beyond to ensure that every part of our stay was nothing short of perfect. We highly recommend stepping stones if you are a mountain biker, skier, snowboarder, or any type of mountain adventurer.
The pictures don't do it justice, it's a VERY nice house. Sue, the property manager, answered my many emails usually within a couple hours and was very helpful. There was a winter storm warning for the day of our arrival and she allowed us a very, very early arrival so we could miss it. Definitely recommend. Kitchen is stocked with everything you need pots and pans wise and all linens and towels were included. The house is big and eight people have plenty of space. Only recommendation is to have four-wheel drive or chains if it has just snowed. They did plow soon after the snowfall, though. Thanks again Sue!
