Our unique home is newly built in a Mexican Contemporary style in the small quiet Colonia of Guadalupe. It offers 3000 sq ft + of living space with 2 master suites one with a king bed and one with a queen, 3 full baths, 2 half baths, 4 fireplaces as well as a den . It is an easy 15 minute walk to the Jardin/Parroquia and close to several language and art schools. Colonia Quadalupe is a mixture of expats and friendly mexican families.
Our Terraza (rooftop patio) is huge and the view of the Parroquia is unobstructed, as are the nearby hills and several other historic churches. Both Sunrises and Sunsets can be enjoyed from the terraza as well as the Mirador. The covered area in the terraza offers a fully cushioned setting area big enough for 6+ people and an area to lounge, as well as a built in Webber Gas BBQ, garden and cafe style table and chairs as well as an eating table with umbrella to enjoy all the outdoors has to offer.
The house comes with a maid once a week (available additional days as needed for and additional fee ), gardner, and property manager who is available to handle any problems or questions you may have. The kitchen is complete with a dishwasher and microwave and the house has purified water throughout as well as a water softner. Local phone service as well as long distance service is available in the house. For rentals a month or longer there is an extra charge for utilities.
Almost all of the furnishings were handmade in San Miguel and offer comfort as well as local design. The den is our 'California room' with 2 recliners and a TV/DVD for movies. Some movies are available at the house but please bring any favorites you may want to watch. Other movies are available at Juan's Cafe on Relox . We also have cable tv and wifi internet available.
Night time on the Mirador is always full of adventure. Fireworks and Parroquia lightshows, lightning storms and city lights create a different diversion every night. If you don't feel like making the short trip into town, the terazza and mirador offers plenty of things too see.

We bought in San Miguel in hopes of someday living there full time. Chip took a spanish class there years ago and decided then and there he would someday live in San Miguel. It took Laurie a little while longer but she has grown to love the friendly people and the many things she can become involved in. Currently both are studying spanish and Laurie volunteers for the local SPA when they are in San Miguel.
North Lake Tahoe is their home away from San Miguel. Although they love the beauty Tahoe has to offer, the warm winters and activity in San Miguel keeps bringing them back.
Laurie purchased this house in 2011
Our home is centrally located to town and the many activities offered in San Miguel. Guadalupe is a quiet Meixcan/expat neighborhood with friendly locals and a true feeling of living in Mexico.
We love the the terraza! Laurie is an early morning riser and she loves watching the moon set and the sun come up. Chip loves the sunsets and moon rising. At night we can see the fireworks over the Parroquia and the weekend light shows without leaving the house. Via Organica is 2 blocks away and several other restaurants are close by.
We have just returned from a month-long stay at this lovely property in Colonia Guadalupe in San Miguel de Allende. Apart from all the conveniences located located near the house (stores, meat market, restaurants, produce, attractions, etc.), the house itself is so well-appointed and comfortable. From the well-stocked kitchen, to the super comfortable beds and linens, we did not lack for a thing. We found the house to be an easy, flat walk to the main jardin and we were able to catch the local bus very near the house to any location in town. You can't beat the views from the upstairs terraza and mirador, and what a place for a small dinner party complete with cool breezes, views of the fireworks in the distance, and early morning hot-air balloon lift-offs right behind the house. The wireless setup was perfect and we were easily able to stay in contact with family and friends. Maru, the housekeeper, was a dream, as was Melissa, the house manager! Maru kept the place spotless and did extra work for us (for a separate fee). Laurie, the owner, was easily accessible by email and very responsive to requests for information. Neighbors were friendly, both Mexican and American, and the neighborhood felt very safe for walking around. I second all other glowing reviews of this property and will return.
Two months has never sped by so quickly. First time in this house...Third stay in Colonia Guadalupe. We loved everything about this elegant home. Everything worked. Easy access to the Jardin, Gombos, Via Organica, Fabrica Aurora, in the immediate neighborhood. And, of course, Los Milagros, Tio Lucas, Juans, Hanks, Biblioteca, and many other restaurants in El Centro. Maru, the maid, is a jewel. The neighbors, both Mexican and North American were very friendly and helpful. The little tiendas close by added convenience. One really feels as if they are living there (I wish!!), instead of just a visitor. The owners were extremely easy to deal with and answered every question and request promptly. We would recommend 31 Cri Cri without reservation and would definitely consider renting there again.
We, three women, recently spent a month at the CriCri residence. We had a wonderful vacation in this inviting duplex. A great location in a quiet, safe neighborhood. The home is spacious, light, clean and comfortable. With a modern, well equipped kitchen. We appreciated having a filtered water system. We especially enjoyed adjourning to the rooftop terraza to relax with a glass of wine while enjoying the spectacular city view and sunsets. (occasional thunder storms).
Our daily walks to El Centro were highlighted by friendly smiles from the local pedestrians passing by. Young, old, babies, school children, people carrying shopping bags, etc. With close quarters on the narrow sidewalks.
Our neighborhood, Guadalupe, included small markets, shops and restaurants. And, many streets had colorful murals painted on the walls.
Our days were filled with an endless variety of adventures, experiences and great restaurants. Walking everywhere kept us physically fit!
We positively recommend this home and location for a wonderful, cultural Mexican holiday. The owner was most helpful as was the maid service and staff.
My wife and I lived in SMA from March through October of 2013 and rented three different homes in three different neighborhoods. Although we enjoyed each of the three, this home was our favorite, and so was the neighborhood. As other's have mentioned it is a short easy (flat) walk to El Centro but more peaceful and relaxed. Guadalupe is truly a peaceful working class Mexican neighborhood and the locals could not be more friendly. Even walking at night we always felt safe and welcome. There are a number of small markets, tiendas, and restaurants all within a few blocks.
The home itself is spacious and beautiful. The kitchen is modern and well stocked, all amenities are provided, and the rooftop deck is large with truly breathtaking views of the city (without having to climb up and down the extremely steep hills on the east side of SMA to get them). The secure off-street parking is a huge plus if you have a car. The Owners, Maid, and Property Managers were all good people and easy to work with
I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who wants a relaxed, comfortable, but true San Miguel experience. The only exception would be for families with young children or disabled family members, as the owner's mention.
Having recently spent a month in this lovely home, I would like to recommend it to anyone desiring to live in a beautiful, well-equipped, and architecturally stunning house in the wonderful colonia of Guadalupe. The house is located at the end of the quiet street of Cri Cri which is an easy, flat walk to Centro.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the views from both roof-top terraces are incredible. If you have a car, there is a spacious, secure, off-street parking area. Inside the house, you will find everything you need to have a comfortable stay. The kitchen has everything, including a dish washer. The beds are the most comfortable we have encountered in Mexico, or anywhere else for that matter. The showers are great, and the water purification system eliminates the need for bottled water.
One of the most important benefits of renting the house is that the owners are amazing to work with. They were very responsive to our needs and did everything they could to make our stay as satisfactory as possible. The housekeeper, Maria, and the property managers, Melissa and Jorge, were also wonderful and extremely accommodating.
All in all, this is a beautiful, well-priced home in a terrific neighborhood - a wonderful find in San Miguel!
The house on Cri Cri has it all!
We have been coming to SMA for 8 years and the rooftop at this house is by far the most spectacular of any house we have stayed in - you get both the sunrise and the sunsets!! And lots of wonderful rooftop furniture and a barbeque! The kitchen is beautiful and equipped with everything you need for a long stay. The beds are so comfortable which hasn't always been the case in previous rentals in San Miguel! Good water pressure and roomy showers. The den with the comfy chairs was perfect - lots of movies for the DVD player and cable tv. The description on the website is exactly as we found it - even better. The owners are wonderful to deal with and Maria, the housekeeper kept the home spotless. The location is great as it's pretty much a flat walk into Centro (about 15-20 mins) and close to La Aurora, Via Organica, La Isla, a great meat market, and many restaurants. There is a small gym right across the street which is very handy and very reasonably priced.
The Guadalupe area is really lovely - lots of families and a good mix of locals and snowbirds. Many Canadians and Americans own homes in the area and we can understand why!
This place had everything we could wish for and more. We will stay here again and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay in San Miguel.
Guadalupe Colonia in San Miguel is a wonderful, safe, community with expats and locals intermixed. Several little markets (tiendas) and a Gym are in our neighborhood. We are close to Via Organica which offers a restaurant as well as organic foods. Several other good local restaurants are close by (we recommend Gombos)
San Miguel is a walking town and we are close to just about everything. It is truly a joy to discover new local tiendas, stores, fresh food stalls and restaurants each time we walk into town.
