San Antonio Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Romantic Cottage Hideaway for Two, Hill Country Views, Dog Friendly!

Our Carriage House in San Antonio is a charming loft space with a full kitchen, dining area, queen bed and concrete floors. The bedroom features an exposed limestone rock wall. The spacious bath doubles as a dressing room and features a large shower with a rain drop shower head. Every window in the cottage has a woodland view of trees, wildlife or horses. The seating area features a unique niche in the wall that mimics a fireplace and mantel. The front porch, with comfortable chairs is a great spot for greeting the morning with a cup of coffee and pastries. Around the back of the Carriage House are several spots to sit with a glass of wine or margarita and enjoy the hill country views. We are just 13 miles from Fiesta Texas and 15 miles from Seaworld. Local flavor restaurants include El Chaparral, Grey Moss Inn and Scenic Loop Cafe.

Step through the 100-year-old door into the living room with original hardwood floors and working fireplace. Curl up in a chair next to the fireplace for a cozy hour of reading. Or lounge on the leather sofa to watch TV. Further in the house, the gracious dining room has a table for four. You'll fall in love with the built-in china cabinet and the floor-to-ceiling windows that let in natural light. The Vienna bedroom has a sophisticated air with a mirrored dressing table and period accents. Open the closet door to reveal a full-length mirror. The Bavarian Room has a chic European feel with elegant touches. Both rooms have queen beds and luxurious sheets. The bathroom has a granite-like countertop and a vessel sink. The original hardwood floors in the kitchen have just recently been rediscovered! About Linda Klar

My great grandparents bought this property along with more than 500 acres so they could farm and run a dairy. Erich and Lydia Menger spent more than 30 years there. After their passing, their four children inherited the property. My grandmother, her brothers and their families continued farming but in 1973, it was decided to sell the property. As a little girl, I was devastated to lose my favorite playground. I vowed that someday I would by the ranch back. The man who bought the ranch sold off the acreage but in 2000 the seven acres that contained the original houses and sheds came on the market. With my husband's support, I WAS able to buy the ranch back! I also got the pony I'd always wanted from childhood.

Linda Klar purchased this cottage in 1929

Why Linda Klar chose South Texas

We enjoy the wildlife, the history, the farm ways. We hope you enjoy the charming old rock house, the vantage points from which you can relax and see the mountains.

Our special location allows you to enjoy Old Town Helotes with cute shops, market days, bicycling and live country music. Seaworld and Fiesta Texas are just 15 miles away. La Cantera mall offers department stores and your favorite shops. UTSA and Southwest Research are close by. And you can enjoy a day at the Riverwalk downtown and the retreat from the sounds of the city to the peaceful chirping of cicadas.

What makes this cottage unique

Government Canyon State Natural Area is closeby.

Cozy Cottage in Hill Country ~ Highly Recommend

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Carriage House but we called it our Carriage Cottage... it is very open, and has lots of natural lighting. The kitchen, dining, bed area and living area is all one big open studio opening. The bathroom is really big, 6 drawer dresser for use there and an area with a few hangers/clothing rack. The bathroom has a big open area with plenty of space and the shower has an overhead rainfall shower head.

The owners were very kind, attentive, and addressed any concerns quickly. We had a great stay overall and we'd definitely and highly recommend this property and these owners to anyone.

Thanks again for all you guys did for us Linda!

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you had a great time at our Carriage House! Since our seven acre paradise is secluded off the street a bit, you can really feel like you're in the country even though there are restaurants and coffee shops just a mile away. I try to always be available for guests' needs so never hesitate to contact me about any wants or special requests. I include my phone number with every communication and I can be reached by text, phone, through Homeway/VRBO e-mail and through my personal e-mail. We did get the cable fixed and - good idea - I can easily make extra linens available any time. I look forward to your next visit!

Quiet Country Atmosphere

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a pleasant and quiet stay. We enjoyed the country atmosphere and would have liked a brush to brush the horses mane. Thanks for a quiet opportunity to step away from the business of life.

Great getaway

  • 5 of 5

Linda was an excellent host. Cottages very private and if you want to get away you can sit out on the front porch and relax and always go inside when it's too hot. Everything works perfectly and hostess was nice and accommodating.

We would like to come back again on our next visit to San Antonio

Perfect for getaway with my husband and dogs.

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect space for the 2 of us because we brought our 2 dogs. Big yard to walk the dogs around. Close enough to all the attractions. Right down the road from an excellent Mexican restaurant. The only down side was the shower has zero water pressure. We really enjoyed our stay!

Owner's Response: Hi Jennifer - I'm glad you found El Chaparral restaurant and enjoyed our beautiful seven-acre property. The irises are starting to bloom and the grass is so incredibly bright green! I am so sorry about the water pressure in the Carriage House. We just went in and pulled that shower head out to replace it. The hard water in our area causes clogs so we have it on our maintenance schedule to change those out regularly. I'm sorry we didn't get it before your stay. But thank you for brining it to our attention; we'll check the shower head in the Big Cottage, too. We hope to host you and your dogs again soon!
