Beautiful garden apartment in the Marina- just 2 blocks to the water and to the Palace of fine Arts and 4 blocks to Chestnut st. The house has french doors from the living room out to a peaceful and private deck - a real oasis in the heart of the Marina.
The Presidio with hiking, tennis, spa and and golf course is 5 minutes walk away as is Chrissey Field beach. The apartment is also just 5 minutes walk away from Chestnut st with bars, restaurants, cinemas etc. The apartment is in a peaceful location but also close to all amenities.

I rented this apartment this past winter and had a fabulous stay. It perfectly fit my needs: a quiet, roomy, yet cozy apartment. Only blocks away from prime Marina attractions like beautiful Crissy Field, the Palace of Fine Arts, and Chestnut St. Jacinta was a gracious and accommodating host. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for anything more. If I'm ever back in San Francisco I'll be trying to book this again.
My husband and I and our two dogs spent the fall semester in this wonderful apartment while he was on sabbatical at UCSF. This was the perfect place to spend 4 lovely months. We took so many walks to the Marina Green (two blocks) with our black Lab and her ball (it’s officially on-leash but she is so well behaved that we were able to let her off leash at times) and would marvel at the beauty of the homes in the area. Crissy Field Beach was close enough that on warm days we took the dogs there to swim and play with other dogs (this is officially an off leash area) with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. The Palace of Fine Arts was also just a few blocks away and my husband walked there every day with our second dog, a Blue Healer mix – he says the Palace and surrounding park grew more beautiful on each visit.
Then in the afternoon, while my husband worked, my time was spent either walking up to the Marina Market and/or Marina Meat Market on Chestnut to find something to cook for dinner or doing some volunteer work online. If we didn't feel like cooking at home we would walk back to Chestnut or Lombard Streets to have dinner at any number of the restaurants there. Some of our favorite places were E’ Angelo (Italian), Mezes (Greek tapas), Parma (Italian), and Tipsy Pig (American), just to name a few. The area is so rich in great restaurants that the only reason we didn't come back home double the size we were when we got there is because we walked so much! There is great shopping too – dozens of unique shops within easy walking distance.
The apartment was larger than we had anticipated being in San Francisco. The outdoor patio area was perfect for our dogs to spend the afternoon or for us to enjoy a glass of wine and the beautiful weather in the evening. The kitchen worked well for us.
As another reviewer stated, there was an issue of soundproofing between floors, but that wasn't an issue very often. That being said, we absolutely loved staying here. I was so completely sad that we had to leave there. If it weren't so far away (we live in South Carolina), we would go back as often as the owners would let us. I can’t imagine staying in another area of San Francisco!
We stayed in this suite for 9 nights and found it quite comfortable. The location in the Marina district is very picturesque and easy walking distance to the waterfront, Palace of Fine Arts, Fort Mason, and shopping and restaurants on Chestnut and Lombard streets.
The suite was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed the private patio. Parking was a bit of an issue, as there is none provided, but in a city like San Francisco, I guess that's to be expected. The only other negative is the a lack of soundproofing between the floors which could be an issue for some people.
We made good use of the kitchen, and appreciated the quality of the essentials provided. There's a great neighbourhood market just up the hill on Chestnut Street where you can buy pretty much anything you could possibly need.
If you prefer to eat out, we enjoyed fabulous dinners an E'Angelo's (Italian) and Mamacita's (Mexican), both just up the hill on Chestnut Street.
This suite is in a fabulous location, and the hostess is very kind and helpful.
My mother and I recently visited San Francisco. We were fortunate enough to spend out trip at this wonderful apartment. The location is perfect. The apartment is beautifully decorated with a gorgeous yard. We couldn't have asked for a better place to call our home for 4 days. And since we have family living less than 100 yards away, we plan to come back again and again!
Three of us (myself, wife, and 2-year old daughter) recently finished a 1-week stay in this apartment, and I can honestly say I've never been more comfortable in San Francisco. For less then the standard SF hotel rate, we had plenty of space, plenty of quiet, and yet still quick access to where we wanted to go. It was ideal.
I've not done a lot of VRBO, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I shouldn't have been worried. Answering the "guideline" questions on the right. From the location to the nearby amenities, the listing was dead-on. The photos showed the apartment quite accurately. There is a private door at the street, then an outdoor hall covered with a trellis, and finally another door into the apartment itself. The outdoor hallway was quite convenient for parking the baby-stroller. Finally, it was absolutely immaculate and spotless inside.
The owners were great, full of suggestions, and they obviously know the neighborhood inside and out. Suggested a nice place for dinner one night, and had some great suggestions for where to go for breakfast every morning. They even had a couple of names for local babysitters, if we were interested. Never took them up on that.
Typical day: get up, have breakfast, walk to the beach, up to the Presidio, past the palace of Fine Arts, and then back to the various shops on Chestnut street (usually stopping for a second breakfast/coffee). Stop by the shops and buy some fruit or whatever looks good, then back to the apartment a short nap. Get up, have lunch, and then go hit something in the city; although truth be told having the Exploratorium a few blocks away meant we stayed pretty close. I LOVE that museum.
Parking can be a bit of a pain, but you look around, you'll find something close. Or if you don't need the carseat like we did, cabs seem to go by on Chestnut street every few minutes, so hailing one shouldn't be a problem.
I would highly recommend this place to my friends, family, just about anyone. As long as you don't book it the next time we're heading to SF, I want to stay in it again.
I stayed in this apartment for a weekend and did to want to leave. The bed was super comfortable and the apratments was quiet, spacious and had everything I needed. It was great it was only 2 blocks to the Marina Green so easy for me to get exercize in the beautiful San Francisco city. I highly recommend this place!
