Don't miss your chance to vacation at this breathtaking palace on the sand. Why drive to the beach when you can have sand, fun and sun right in your own backyard.
Fire up the gas BBQ on the deck and cook up some steaks under the beautiful California sun. Jump in the private pool to cool off or jump in the jacuzzi to heat things up! after a nice long relaxing day, throw on the gas firepit on the deck and keep warm while taking in the afternoon/ night sky. Sunset Beach offers the most brilliant sunsets on the west coast(hence the name). Fall asleep to the serene sound of the ocean swell softly crumbling on the whitesand shoreline as you drift off to slumber.

I have lived in Socal all my life, I love to surf and be active, i previously lived at this listing full time so i am capable of answering any technical questions you might have.
Matthew purchased this house in 1990
There are few pleasures like sitting up out of bed and seeing a pelican glide alongside a wave right outside of your window. Better still, the afternoons spent on the deck watching the pinkish hues dissipate into the ocean. For the night owl, feel free to roam to and from the shoreline at your leisure without the disruption of the day, and soak in the luminescent beams of moonlight that shimmer off of the deep blue.
This house is among the elite few in Sunset Beach with a pool (check google maps for proof)
I also manage an Inn that is 2 miles from this property, sunset . If you have extra relatives, I have the authority to make special accommodations for VRBO renters.
Well worn beachfront rental property. Pictures are great, but closer inspection will show significant wear. Problems with electronics (TV, stereo). Cabinets falling off hinges. Ants in kitchen (tip: refrigerate all foods). Oven takes forever to heat (service needed). Pool needed sand clean-out. Care-taker not very committed to resolving issues. Go in with low expectations and you'll have a great time! Good value for the $$ due to location, location, location.
Not a in good condition. Many phones calls to report problems, ignored and never returned.
The location is excellent, the house has issues.
*Filthy - Ants are all over the kitchen, food storage was impossible.
* Nothing works electronically, tv, stereo, lights missing bulbs, broken assorted light fixtures.
* Carpets need cleaning, master bedroom had vomit in carpet, urine smell in closets
* Pool was filthy
* fixtures fall off in your hands
* Appliances, washer and dryer are beat up pretty bad
The back yard is beautiful, open gas fire pit was nice to use. Outdoor space, ocean back yard - YES
Inside the run down house - NO
First impression of the property is that it was slightly run down for the money. The location was fantastic and the floor plan was interesting and very fun, but it felt a little rough. We expressed our concerns to the property manager and he responded with very little help and explained that the oven that didn't work, the broken bbq, doors that wouldn't close and were missing handles and locks were merely bad luck and and bad timing. I don't want to say too much about the flaws of the house or the management because we had a great trip despite all of the issues. Would have appreciated a review like this before we booked!
All of the amenities were there, on site, and ready to use with the exception of the bicycles and when we asked for those they were delivered. The host owners were gracious and accommodating and we had a GREAT time. One of the things we didn't think we'd use a lot was the fire pit out front, but it was a major hit for this multi-generational stay-over. Since I can be influenced by my own expectancies let me just simply say the photos were dated and so I needed to level-set my expectancy on arrival to allow for the unrelenting sea and wind and their effects. That said, remember we had a great time and all the things we expected to help with having a great time were present and accounted for. Minor note: I was not able to find a remote for the sound system or the DVD player, and you can't use remotes through a closet door anyway, so we controlled the equipment the old fashioned way by getting up and going to it; and we needed the exercise anyway. I would go here again myself, so I'd have no problem recommending it. We needed a place that would accommodate 10-12 (2 of them small children). It was handy to restaurants and markets, even a donut shop. Most all within a mile or less. The multi-level views were great, the sub-zero held all we needed it to. We opened windows on the ocean and inland side and this place cross-ventilated very perfectly. Caveat: the pool can be reached by a wandering small child, so parents and family, it's up to you to not get so busy with your fun as to lose track of the little ones. First impressions are the pool is private, but note the high windows overlooking in two directions. The pool's center location gave it an excellent wind-break and the attached Jacuzzi was enjoyed by all. Thanks to our hosts, we had a marvelous get together and a good time was had by all.
While I was a bit skeptical regarding the nightly charge for this beach access rental home, my wife and kids (and their friends) and I all agreed it was well worth every single penny. Upon arrival, Matthew, who had done an excellent job of communicating and answering all our questions prior to pulling the trigger on this rental, showed up to greet us and explain about all the amenities and basics of the home. We were extremely impressed and satisfied with everything at the house, specifically the pool and jacuzzi (which got hot and had both bubbles and jets functioning well) and the pool which heated up nicely and was an additional bonus to the house being right on the beach. We spent our mornings in the jacuzzi and pool in the center of the house until the sun passed and then moved to the back of the house right on the beach to continue our sunning! The music system, which you could plug in an ipod and "crank it" in the pool and jacuzzi area and/or the back deck on the beach utilizing Bose speakers, was excellent. At night, the fire pit was the main attraction as worked very well also and was a great gathering space for s'mores and enjoying hearing the waves crashing on the beach. The patio furniture was very comfortable. The views from the master and main house bedroom were spectacular and we went to bed and woke up each day we were there to the sound of the crashing waves on the beach. The sunsets each night were beautiful, not to mention the dish network tvs throughout the house which provided a wide variety of viewing entertainment for all ages. The barbecue in the back yard worked great (ie; easy to light and cooked fast). My family, which included adult aged children, really liked the 2 suites in the front of the house facing the street as sefl contained with kitchen and bath and provided privacy. The parking right in front of the garages was also very convenient. The icing on the cake though, was how laid back and cool Matthew was in getting us into the rental and supporting any needs we had timely during our stay. Lastly, my wife thoroughly enjoyed her morning coffee on the master balcony and watching the surfers and dolphins in the ocean, which by the way, was surprisingly warm as compared to where we live in northern CA. The house had boogie boards and a skim board so truly equipped for you and your family to simply show up and enjoy. Thank you Matthew for a wonderful vacation we won't ever forget and planning to return!

Our family group consisted of 5 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 small children. There was more than enough room for all to be comfortable... We absolutely LOVED our vacation at this house! The pics really don't do it justice. Hard to decide what we enjoyed most! Million dollar views were absolutely breath taking! I enjoyed relaxing on the beautiful master balcony: watching the surfers in the morning, the beautiful, clean ocean waves all day, and the reflection of the moon on the water at night. The location on the beach provides panoramic views that go on forever- So Amazing! The deck is all one could ask for. We soaked up the sun by day, listening to great music, courtesy of the very cool sound system, and of course, took long walks on the beach. My kids took the boogie boards (provided) out every day. We barbecued every evening, and relaxed by the awesome fire pit, which the kids especially loved! Ending each perfect day with a dip in the heated pool and/or a soak in the hot tub was heavenly.
I really never wanted to leave the house and it's immediate vicinity, but there is much to see and do in the area. Great little night life spots- my sons highly recommend Schooner's. For live music, even on week nights, there is Irish Mist, both within easy walking distance. Lots of eateries, grocery shopping, Starbuck's close by. My kids also rented surf boards from Huntington Surf Shop- quick, friendly staff.
Matt, who handled all our rental transactions for the house, was fantastic. Totally accommodating, courteous, professional, and really nice!
This house has such great, positive vibes... It is truly a little piece of paradise that my entire family loved. If you want the best of everything on your vacation, this is the one. Whenever I find myself in life needing to go to my "happy place", THIS is where I will be picturing myself! Wonderful, amazing vacation, and we can't wait to go back!
