Orvieto Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 1 bedroom + sofabed, 1 bathroom, (sleeps 2-4), terrace and WiFi

This delightful apartment, recently redecorated and refurbished is located in a pretty cobbled street right in the heart of the pedestrian historical centre of Orvieto, close to the magnificent 14th century gothic cathedral. Simply step outside the door and within a few minutes walk you can enjoy all that Orvieto has to offer : museums, bars, restaurants and a host of wonderful shops on the Via Garibaldi offering beautiful ceramics, lace, delicious local wines, cheeses, sausage and wild mushroom products. This charming apartment affords complete privacy, set in a peaceful location close to the theatre Mancinelli and provides a perfect base from which to explore the beautiful, unspoilt rural region of Umbria with its excellent wineries, historic hilltop towns, stunning landscapes and olive, grape and truffle harvests laden with foodie promise.

The apartment has a private entrance through a small cobbled courtyard and is located on the second floor. Please note that the apartment is reached via two short flights of stairs, so is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. The interior of the apartment recently decorated in warm colors and a super, new comfortable mattress in the bedroom has polished parquet floors and exposed, high beamed ceilings with characteristic terracotta tiles. From the quaint terrace you can sip a chilled glass of one of the wonderful Orvieto wines whilst watching the sun go down across the rooftops. Simple terrace furniture means you can dine 'al fresco' and sample some of the locally produced hand-made fresh pasta drizzled in rich, deep green peppery olive oil.

The apartment is well suited for a relaxing holiday at any time of the year as all of the sights and facilities of this wonderful small city are reachable on foot. Equally for those travellers who wish to venture further afield by train or car, it is incredibly well located to explore all of Umbria’s famous hilltop towns, the southern part of Tuscany, in particular Montepulciano and the Val d’Orcia and Rome in Lazio.

From the apartment on foot you can visit :

The duomo ( cathedral ) of Orvieto – Roman Catholic cathedral and national monument with magnificent gothic façade and two frescoed chapels decorated by Luca Signorelli and several other talented Italian painters of the period with images of “ Judgement Day “

Teatro ( theatre ) Mancinelli - plays host to world class musicians during Umbria Jazz in winter. You can also see ballet, opera, folk music and musical tributes inside this magnificent and atmospheric theatre.

For local food and drink – there are many good quality restaurants and trattorias close to the apartment as well as butchers, bread and pastry shops, cafès, fresh pasta shops, and small supermarkets for all your everyday essentials. The apartment is two minutes walk from the main post office, two / three banks and the town market held in the Piazza del Popolo every Thursday and Saturday. Close to the Piazza della Repubblica you can find English language newspapers and hairdressing salons.

The apartment is laid out over one floor and is comprised of a light and bright open plan sitting/kitchen/dining area, bedroom and bathroom. With soft color-washed walls, rich fabrics and rugs, the living area is warm and inviting. From the kitchen/dining area you can access the terrace through double french doors. There is a modern and well equipped kitchen with a dining table to seat up to six people. Just off the sitting area is a large double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and a family bathroom with shower and washing machine. Additionally, the sofa in the sitting area pulls out to make a further double bed.

A wonderful month in Orvieto

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent an idyllic month in this apartment in Orvieto. Susan, Mandy, and Victoria were friendly, helpful, and responsive. We loved the apartment itself - it looks even better than the photos if that is possible - and we thoroughly enjoyed our time in the town. I did a lot of cooking and found the kitchen to be well equipped - we especially enjoyed the cappuccino maker. The apartment was roomy and the furniture and bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the four sets of french doors and spent a lot of time relaxing on the small deck out back. The location is excellent - everything is in walking distance (shops, bakery, the Duomo etc). We had a car for part of the month but we spent most of our time relaxing in Orvieto itself. We parked in the free lot at the base of the funicular and my husband would take the funicular down to pick up the car whenever we decided to go out of the city. There is paid parking close to the apartment but we didn't feel we needed the access. The wifi was excellent although there was one week when it was down due to a service provider problem (that's Italy for you - there was nothing the hosts could do to resolve it). There were stairs to reach the apartment which was fine by us but might be a problem for people with mobility issues.

We stayed in Orvieto for the month of June and the apartment was comfortably cool until the last week when it got quite hot. Victoria gave us fans which were helpful, but please note there is no a/c so it may be quite warm inside during the summer months, even with the windows open.

My husband and I would definitely love to come back and spend a month in the fall some year.

Wonderful Apartment, Wonderful Hosts and Wonderful Town!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in Orvieto. The apartment itself was very comfortable, clean and beautiful, located walking distance to everything. We loved the view from the terrace and the quiet building. The apartment was well stocked with essentials like tea, coffee, spices, olive oil and even soap and shampoo... all those things you end up having to buy if they are not there, which some of the apartments we stayed in along our trips didn't provide. We appreciated not having to buy those things all over again. The hospitality provided by Mandy, Susan and Victoria was really incredible. Mandy organized a cab for us, which was waiting to pick us up from the train station on our arrival (since there was a parade scheduled in the town that day). Victoria met us for our check in and check out. She was super friendly and informative and she even gave us a ride to the train station when we were leaving. They were always available to help us if we had questions or needed help getting to one of the larger grocery stores (there is a small one right around the corner). There are options to do cooking classes or winery visits or other excursions which Mandy organizes. We even coincidentally ran into the apartment owner, Susan, at the train station, she was super nice and even stood with us on the platform until the train came and helped us lift our bags inside the train! If you want a relaxing stay and the opportunity to enjoy the best of Orvieto, this is your place. We would love to stay again.

Felt like home! If home was in Italy.

I can not say enough good things about Apartment Valentino! First there were these amazing ladies that made our trip easy and very enjoyable. Susan and Victoria met us at the apartment and went over everything with us thoroughly. The minute we walked into the apartment I knew we had selected the right one. It was very like the pictures only better. It was well stocked with both cooking utensils ,spices, oil, coffee and most importantly a bottle of Orvieto Classico. There was also plenty of paper supplies and laundry detergent. The balcony is great for your morning coffee or evening glass of vino. It is surrounded by beautiful plants. Next, the location is unbelievable! It is right in the middle of the town yet enough off the main street that it is not too noisy. There are many restaurants, cafes, and stores within a short walking distance. The grocery is about 3 min walk. We rented a car during our stay here and took many side trips throughout the area. Victoria invited us out one evening to meet some of her friends and a great time was had by all. I almost forgot to mention how comfortable the bed was and that the curtains and linens in the apartment were beautiful. We did not get to meet Mandy until our last day there. It was nice to put a face to someone who had been very helpful throughout the rental process. The only downside is the stairs leading to the apartment. We are in our fifties and sixties and were not in very good shape prior to arrival but we left in better shape and conquered the stairs with no problems. Please give this property a try. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

So good that I wanted to stay forever!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was lovely and so conveniently located. Everything that we needed to cook a meal was stocked in the kitchen. The grocery store is just a few blocks away along with a wonderful fresh pasta store. We loved sitting outside in the mornings and drinking coffee listening to the bells from the Duomo before heading our each day. There was public parking right down the street that we were able to leave our rental car overnight for a very nominal fee. Don't miss the famers market that comes twice a week with excellent produce and cheese and meats.

Wonderful apartment in Orvieto!

  • 5 of 5

This charming apartment has it all, from beautifully decorated rooms to an adorable terrace with a view of the Duomo to a kitchen that was delightful to cook in! Being on my own, I appreciated the location which was close to shops and cafes, and managed by Mandy and Victoria who made me feel so welcome and had many tips on how to make my stay in Orvieto more enjoyable. Would definitely stay here again!

Favorite place on our trip to Italy!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is ideal in every way. When I first walked up the stairs and opened the double doors, I was in love with the place. Shining parquet floors, old polished wood shutters on the tall windows, nice furniture and art, a washing machine and espresso maker, spotlessly clean, cozy, great location, delightful little veranda, a view of the Duomo from the bedroom and bath (love those bell chimes!)Like many others have said, Mandy goes the extra mile to make sure all details are covered. We really appreciated her hospitality.

My sister and I spent 6 nights here. We were perfectly comfortable and wanted to stay longer! Of our 17 days in Italy, this was our favorite.

We chose to join the wine tasting trip to Locanda Palazzone Winery, and it was very fun. Orvieto offers wonderful restaurants, great shopping, 6th century BC Etruscan ruins, gorgeous architecture (especially the Duomo), several nice parks, a good walk around the walled city, and Apt Valentini is in the middle of it all. I can't wait to return!
