|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
Enjoy all that Chicago has to offer and then come home and relax on the huge (20 x20) deck with the best skyline views in the city. This is a charming Condo in the perfect location. Have the neighborhood feel with dozens of great places to go for a bite to eat within a couple blocks, and also explore Chicago's tourist highights which are all very easily accessible from the Subway station that is literally 30 feet from the front door.
The unit has all the amenities you will need for a weekend getaway or a month long stay. It features an upgraded kitchen with granite counters, brand new stainless appliances, dishwasher, laundry in unit, a 2 person jetted jacuzzi soaking tub, a large dining area, a nice desk and workspace with inspiring skyline views, 48 in. flat screen TV, cable, Wi-Fi, Steam Shower and a BBQ grill on the massive private deck.
The location is ideal. Take the Blue line door to door from O'Hare, it is 30 feet to the Chicago Ave Subway (no noise) station. The Chicago Ave. Bus is also 30 feet away. 3 Blocks to the Halsted Bus which will take you north to Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Wrigley Field, etc and south to Greektown and the West Loop. The Property is 1 mile from the Sears (Willis) Tower, 1.25 miles from the Magnificent Mile, but in a great little neighborhood away from the hustle, bustle and tourists of the Loop and River North. If you are driving, we are located 1 block to the Exit/Entrance to the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/ 94).
The Layout of the Unit is great. There is a lot of common living space, with a nice dining area off of the Updated Kitchen. Another large space set up as an office with a desk facing the skyline. This leads to teh huge living rooom with seating for at least 10 around the large flat screen TV. The Downstairs Bathroom holds the huge Jetted soaking tub. Upstairs has the 2 bedrooms, one of which is 24x14. The large Master bedroom holds a King sized bed and 2 sets of bunk beds, one twin over twin and one twin over full, and has awesome views of the city. The smaller private bedroom has a Queen bed and a nice desk area. The upstairs bathroom features new upgraded vanity and tile and an enclosed steam shower. Laundry is found in the upstairs bath. The highlight is the monster deck out the back door of the second floor. Enjoy your morning coffee, a glass of wine before you head out, or have a great Chicago night staying in with friends and grilling out.
I lived in this unit for 10 years, so if you have any questions about the location or the unit, please ask. I love this city, and I want all of my guests to enjoy themselves too!

Steve purchased this condo in 2001
I fell in love with this property when I listed it for sale for a client. At the time I was trying to find a building to house a bed and breakfast. The bed and breakfast never materialized, but I like to keep the dream alive with this vacation rental unit.
Check out the pictures of the deck. Its absolutely huge (20 x20). Have friends and family over for a Barbeque, or just enjoy the sunrise and sunset over the gorgeous skyline.
If you need beds and this is your price range, it's hard to beat this. It is literally steps from the subway and there is a Dunkin Donuts, CVS, and Subway as well as numerous other restaurants within feet. The kitchen has been redone and parts of the bathrooms have been redone (they look good, but then you notice the unfinished wood, broken toilet paper holder, broken jacuzzi, etc.). The main bedroom and den left a lot to be desired. The den carpet is quite dirty and the couches have blankets on them to cover the cushions (what are there). The beds don't have headboards, mattresses are mediocre, and bedding is mediocre as well. And there is a TON of light shining in the rooms in the morning. The deck is awesome with an amazing view. In the end, it provided all we needed, and worked but I would probably squeeze into an Embassy Suites room next time for more comfort. The owner was very accommodating with our reservation and it was easy getting in and out. Just wish it could be spruced up a bit.
Although the property is a little dated, it is very clean and the owner has made improvements to the kitchen and bathrooms. Just prior to our arrival date, there was an unexpected, emergency issue regarding the deck due to recent heavy rains. Contractors were there making repairs during our stay. So, unfortunately, the deck wasn't available for our use, however, Steve gave us a nice refund for our inconvenience.
Just a note for disabled / elderly guests: There are a lot of stairs to enter the apartment plus it is a two-story apartment, probably 3 1/2 flights from the outside up to the bedroom story. Also, although the subway entrance is very close, it is also NOT accessible, meaning no escalators or elevators and LOTS of stairs. Luckily, if I waited long enough, a nice young man would show up offering to help carry my bags up (or down) into the subway.
The apartment is very well located for the blue line 'L' train and the 66 bus to the Hancock Center and Navy Pier areas. The beds we used were comfortable and the bedding and towels clean. For a cheap place to stay (weekdays anyway) it served it's purpose - for some reason hotels were twice the normal price while we were in Chicago so we chose this apartment instead.
I'm not sure however why recent reviews are so positive - the property is very rough around the edges with air con units surrounded by ancient tape, no locks on the bathroom doors and no plugs for the sinks, at least 2 cracked windows, dirty carpet and sofas in the lounge, and an unsealed brick wall next to the kitchen. There is at least one loose plug socket in the kitchen. Also as the property does not have double glazing there is a lot of night time noise from the nearby busy roads and fire station. We have stayed in many rental properties over the years which have been generally well maintained - many of the issues with this property appear to be longstanding and should have been attended to by the owner.
To summarise, if you are looking for someone cheap to stay this is worth considering - it is an adequate place for a few days if you are out a lot. If you are looking for a home from home I suggest you look elsewhere.
Unbeatable view of the Chicago skyline from a very comfortable deck. Super convenient location for public transportation. Several restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance, and a CVS right across the street. Plenty of space for sleeping and hanging out. Highly recommend.
We loved the unit! It is on a quiet street and parking was no problem. We were literally feet from the blue line subway which gets you downtown in two stops-less than 10 minutes. We were with several kids and it was so nice to sit on the deck and play cards while enjoying the beautiful Chicago skyline. The place was plenty big enough for the 10 of us.
The owner was very nice and responsive to our request for parking passes (which we ended up not needing because we were able to secure the free parking available).
The jacuzzi tub was broken, which was no big deal for us but if thats what your looking forward to you may want to check with the owner.
Overall a very nice and enjoyable stay!
