Stay High Above the Rooftops of San Francisco’s Noe Valley

$800.00 weekly, 1 Week minimum stay, $2300.00 monthly., Sleeps 2. Unfortunately, I am not able to accommodate children.

You'll love this sunny, cozy rooftop studio like room in the quiet San Francisco neighborhood of Noe Valley. You will have a panoramic view all the way from Twin Peaks to the San Francisco Bay. Today, Noe Valley is one of San Francisco’s most desirable residential areas full of Victorian homes, shops, restaurants and easy public transportation access, all in one of the sunniest parts of The City.

Watch the fog hover over Twin Peaks as you have your morning coffee as the warm sun shines through your windows on three sides of the room. Accommodations include a warm comfortable bed, cable TV and wireless Internet access. You will also find a half-bath with a beautifully tiled shower, wet-bar with large sink and small refrigerator. You will be provided with dishware, pans, and utensils to make simple meals with the microwave, electric burner, and toaster oven. Linen and towels are provided.

This beautiful rooftop hideaway has a separate entrance through a side passageway and up a back staircase. Must be able to negotiate stairs since access is up a circular staircase of 43 steps that are unfortunately not very child-friendly.

You will be in walking distance to restaurants and Noe Valley’s 24th Street shops. You can also catch the J-Church MUNI line just a block away that will give you direct access not only to the Noe Valley, Castro, and Dolores Park Neighborhoods, but also to downtown for the Cable Cars, Union Square, and the Embarcadero. BART is just a short 10-minute walk away.

Parking is on the street. A washer and dryer are available on the premises.

Please let me know where you are coming from if you are interested in my rooftop sunroom.

Why Dana L. Rees chose San Francisco

The ROOFTOP SUNROOM is literally that, a room perched on the roof of a two unit building in San Francisco's Noe Valley. You view is panoramic from Twin Peaks looking west sweeping around to San Francisco Bay looking east.

What makes this studio unique

San Francisco is a city of neighborhoods and Noe Valley is one of the nicest. It is in a part of The City that the sun shines brightly when much of the rest of San Francisco is in the Fog. It is a neighborhood where you walk! Walk to the shops and stores on 24th St., or find wonerful restaurants just blocks away on Church St. Walk to a cheese store, meat market, or take in the Saturday morning Farmers' Market. Walk in any direction and you will find a coffee shop where you can sit and relax enjoying your tea or coffee.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This was a lovely couple from the East Coast that has given me one of the most detailed reviews so far. They were great to have as guests and I appreciate their comments. I learned about a walking tour in San Francisco from them that I will take myself and recommend to my guests. All houses have idiosyncrasies and since this is a room in my home that was build in 1922 it has a couple as this review points out. I let my guest know about them upfront. And, there is a basin in the room. I think this is one of the most honest and truthful reviews, I know any future guests would be delighted staying in my rooftop sunroom as you can see in my guests reviews. It was a pleasure to have this couple as my guests.

Just right

  • 5 of 5

The Studio is just enough. Small but cozy, well located, plenty of natural light and great panorama of the city from every window. The location is perfect between The Castro and The Mission, plenty of choices for food and entertainment. The neighbourhood has a great feeling of security. Transportation of all kind is 1 to 3 blocks away to get downtown and the many attractions of San Francisco. The apartment has all the appliances necessary for having meals as we did for breakfast and light dinners. There is everything we needed for having a very pleasant and no worries stay. Dana, the owner, is a great host and always available, always concerned about your comfort, that much that the last day he was helping us a lot to get to the train station, completely out of our expectations. If you need an apartment with all the comfort and you don't mind for the 3 floors steps, this place is perfect. Anyway those steps were training for the many hills of San Francisco. Thank you Dana for making our trip so memorable.

Very cozy and comfortable...Amazing view!!

  • 5 of 5

Dana was a wonderful host! Very helpful from start to finish! He made available all the information that you would need to enjoy the perfect visit to San Francisco with books and maps and a clipper card that can be loaded up to use on the Muni transportation system which includes the historic cable car rides. We loaded the card up for seven days at the Whole Foods store (within walking distance) for $42 each which gives you unlimited rides. It is $7 each one way on the historic cable car and we rode it at least three times so you get your money back very quickly! It took a little bit of time to figure out where the buses and rail cars went to, but just goggled "how to get to on the bus" from our location and that worked perfectly!

Dana is up front about the size of the sun room and the number of stairs but unless you have health issues the stairs are manageable and Dana was kind enough to help with the luggage.

Being surrounded by windows and the fantastic view add to the feeling of spaciousness and lovely to see the sun rise from the comfort of your bed in the morning. The room is well fitted out with everything you might need for simple meals with the Whole Foods store close by to stock up from. Also lots of nice restaurants and coffee shops close by. We ate at Haystack, Chole's and Luv a java. Make sure you are starving when you go to Chole's as the meals are enormous!!

We did the Alcatraz evening cruise which is less busy than the daytime one and you need to book it in advance or you will be out of luck. We decided not to rent a car and booked the 17 mile tour of the Monteray, Pebble Beach, Carmel area which was lovely!! Less stressful than driving ourselves. Down side, you don't get to stop at some places you might want to, but that's the trade off. Traffic is busy, parking etc. So it's a judgement call.

We loved that we could get away from the touristy areas like Fisherman's Wharf! The Noe Valley and Dolores Park are beautiful! We especially enjoyed Golden Gate Park which is huge and you can spend a very long time there. We visited the Castro District and enjoyed Harvey's restaurant, actually went 3 times, nice atmosphere reasonable prices.

Toured the Mission Dolores Basilica, well worth it! So much to see and do! Need to return and do it all again!

Overall, had a fabulous time and highly recommend Dana's hospitality.

Awesome location, picture perfect views, romantic nook atop the hill

  • 4 of 5

Cute sun room with an efficiency kitchen, we used the coffee maker every morning and could've used the single stove for breakfast but did not.

The shower is bigger than it looks in the photos, the only downside of the whole place was that there is not sink in the bathroom so we had to use the kitchen one to brush it teeth etc. But we didn't mind.

20 min walk to the mission, 40ish min walk to the Hayes valley and painted ladies a litter longer to the golden gate park

The only places we had to uber were golden gate bridge, the peir and the beach

Fabulous Experience

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in the sunroom for a week while honeymooning in SF from Maui. We loved it. The location was so nice. It's located in a great neighborhood full of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, shopping and even a Whole Foods within walking distance. We stocked the fridge in the sunroom with some basics that made it feel like home. There is public transportation on the J Train located two blocks away. We took this train almost every day all over SF with transfers to other trains, busses and trolleys very easy to understand and navigate. The owner, Dana was very helpful and accommodating in every way. He even gave us reloadable train passes go use while we were there, which happed yo have a few rides still loaded on them from the previous guests. (Theres $8 still on the card I returned! ACT FAST!) A few times we didn't take the train we could easily Uber everywhere from this location for $10-$15. It's a very centrally located property. The view from the sunroom was amazing as we watched the clouds roll past the roof tops and could even see a sliver of The Bay through the palm trees. We rented a car for two days and drove to Napa. Parking was easy to find right on the Sunroom's street for those days that we had it. There was a laundry room down in the garage that we used a few times. This place was great! We had a great time and will recommend it to anyone and stay here again in the future. Enjoy. Aloha.

Wonderful place to stay in the center of San Francisco

  • 5 of 5

This place really is as amazing as the pictures make it look. I stayed in Dana's sunroom for two months over the summer during an internship/fellowship and had a wonderful time. The location is good, very close to shops and restaurants and near public transit making it easy to get downtown. Dana is a wonderful host and can provide all sorts of information about the city. He even shipped me a couple shirts I accidentally left in the room. Linens are provided and Dana gives you access to the washing machines and drier which is great for longer stays. Whether you're in town for the weekend or a few months it's great place to stay.

San Francisco Sun Room

  • 5 of 5

This is a great little spot on the 4th floor of an old San Francisco residence. Forty-three steps to the top but once you are there the view is fantastic! This is a cozy, very clean and tidy room that has everything you need. It is close to BART and Noe Valley shops and dining as well as the Mission area. Dana, your host, will give you a warm welcome and be very helpful. This was my second stay in the Sunroom and I am sure I will want to come back again.
