I am an employee of Whole Foods and am so glad I was able to find a small place in Paradise. I have been traveling to Mexico since the early '80's and was able to find Akumal about 15 years ago... I was able to purchase the condo in Lasirena complex, on HalfMoon Bay, in Akumal, QuintanaRoo, Mexico. The area gives back what I need to replinish, to keep my sanity in a fast paced, hectic world.
You should visit the area, to replinish what has been taken from you.....Mayan Riviera, a truly beautiful place...
Terry Lee Powell purchased this condo in 2004

We had a wonderful time at La Sirena #4. It's a beautiful place,
inside and out. We had the beach to ourselves most days, an added
bonus. We cooked all breakfasts and lunches, what a great kitchen!
On-site bike rental was awesome. We went to town daily to see the
turtles and to eat supper. Each night ended with a family movie,
another perk. Nancy kept the place spotless, a much appreciated perk.
I communicated with her using google translate as my Spanish is very
limited. She's a sweetie. We hope to return if some day. Thank you for
opening your place to us. Memories were made. It was a perfect trip.
The condo was in a perfect location on half moon bay and a couple blocks from the lagoon. We did snorkel at the lagoon, but we liked the snorkeling right out in front of the condo. Bring booties, the rocks can be sharp out there. The condo itself was perfect. We brought our children who are 15 and 20. Big, spacious, everything we needed was there. The complex manager was the sweet, est guy and helped with anything you need. The cleaning staff was awesome. We rented bikes right there from the condo complex and rode back and forth to the Akumal bay for daily adventures. The restaurants up and down that road were spectacular, friendly and with the very best ocean views. Akumal is our favorite place to be and this condo was an added bonus to our stay. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you so much Terry!!!
We really enjoyed La Sirena #4. We are at the time of the stay a couple with a 14-year old daughter. The description and pictures are very accurate and give a great idea of the condo layout and features. Everything worked well--Canadian satellite TV, air conditioning and blender most importantly. We spent more time in the pool than expected, as it was really pleasant there. We also snorkeled off the beach and around the corner at Yal-Ku Lagoon. We loved La Buena Vida restaurant on the other side of Half Moon Bay, which had a menu very friendly for our vegan girl. An appropriate request of the mariachi is Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash. The best beer we found was Mondo Maya (from Playa) served in one liter bottles at La Buena Vida. We also enjoyed a meal at Lol-Ha.
Our tips include bring surf shoes. Grab some groceries on the way (we stopped at WalMart in Playa. Very cheap bakery there). The air conditioning is solid and the place tight and it keeps the house cool for hours after you turn it off. For take-home good tequila your options are Viva Zapata in Tulum or a couple of places on 5th Avenue in Playa. The unit came with a 5-gallon drinking water bottle. Staff would have replaced it with a new one had we needed replenishment.

La Sirena has around 12 or so condos in the three story building on the beach and four standalone homes around the pool gardens. 2 sets of 3 steps up. The whole place was less than half occupied in mid-summer, and we often had the beach alone. Security Alfredo oversees the complex during the day and police stay near the condo entrance at the junction to Yal-Ku Lagoon during the evenings. The housekeeper tailored cleaning to our schedule and requests (for example, towels, trash and recycling, or one day with a more thorough clean). The condo was very clean on arrival. Wi-fi was outstanding. We caught an arm of Hurricane Earl (landfall in Belize) on our last night. A crew came by and cleared anything that could be windblown from outside and furniture from the sunken living room. Power dropped twice briefly, which was better than we expected at the level of storm.
Terry is a thoughtful, communicative host.
The apartment has a great location close to Yal ku lagoon, walking distance to cozy restaurants. Not for typical tourism, no clubs, no noise, no crowds. Kitchen is perfectly equipped, overall the apartment is very clean, charming and it has wonderful views. If you want to relax and be with nature (turtles, stingrays, all sorts of fish and iguanas) this is the paradise.
The beach is amazing though you have to be careful with hedgehogs, be sure wearing water shoes, great place for snorkeling.
What a wonderful stay we had in Akumal at the condo. Everything a vacationer could want. Full amenities, kitchen, and beach. We were content to stay on the patio, converse, read, and enjoy the waves and beach. We discovered Paradise and can not wait to return. I recommend Terry and Randy's place to all. We will be back!
Amazing place in my favorite town in Mexico. Second time in La Sirena 4 and it was just as amazing as last year!
Turtle Bay Cafe breakfast, Buena Vida Karoake, empanadas,
micheladas and everything in between. Vista del Mar for daily or weekly bikes or golf cart rentals. La Lunita Sunday for Cochininta Pebil.
Amazing farmer's market twice a week for produce and a grocery/market to pick up meat. Gourmet kitchen to cook in - a chef's dream!
So many other treasures - just fun to explore!
Bring your flashlight at night while walking to Buena Vida!
If you are someone that enjoys quiet nights falling asleep to the ocean tide or someone who wants to come home stumbling from the local watering hole and sing and dance to the iPod dock all night - this is your home.
*You'll need to meal plan or plan on walking a lot to dine out - not a bad idea for anyone.
Just returned from two weeks at LaSirena 4 in Halfmoon bay by Aukumal. My father, friend and I had a wonderful time there. The condo was really lovely, all the comfirts of home and the ocean just outside our door. This end of the bay is a snorkler's paradise, each day we saw something fantastic, turtles, cuttlefish, huge schools, and beautiful corals and sponges. With just a few other swimmers out there it was like having a private bay. The entrance into the bay is a bit tricky but quite doable once you work out your technique,(watch out for the green alge on the walkway, its really slippery!)
The property mangers are fantastic, they saved us when I was delayed and my parents had to continue down on their own.
They arranged for a car to pick them up and got them settled nicely into the condo,
Thank You again Enrique and Patricia!
And thanks again to Enrique for giving me a jump start when my car battery went dead.
Really above and beyond.
They only downfall of the place was that it was so hard to leave, but we are looking forward to visiting again and hope Terry's place will be available.
Thanks so much for a wonderful visit.
