Overview

North Coast California Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Romantic, Coastal, Arts and Crafts Style Cottage, originally built in 1918 by Zella Lee Gibson, as her painting studio. The cottage has been lovingly restored by the owners, a wine country interior designer and a general contractor. Perfect for the discriminating renter who wants the best of what Dillon Beach has to offer. Full Circle has received over 100 FIVE STAR reviews. This is very, very rare anywhere on the VRBO website and unheard of in Dillon Beach.

'Full Circle' has an all redwood interior, 17 foot high vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, 180 degree ocean view, filled with period antiques, lighting and original artwork. Known as 'the cutest house in the village', at Dillon Beach. Located just 200 strides from the beach down Bumble Bee Path.

Upon check-in, you are welcomed with a bottle of Cline Cashmere wine (It tastes as smooth as it sounds), a fresh cut bouquet of white Casa Blanca lilies, Coast Roast coffee, a box of 4 custom Full Circle, Belgium chocolate truffles by Le Belge, live orchids, plush Turkish cotton bath sheets and robes, Terra Pure organic shampoo, conditioner and body wash and custom, hand made, organic Full Circle soaps from Hawaii. The two, new pillow-top queen size beds are made with 800 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, down comforters, down pillows and Pendleton Chief blankets. The fire is built and ready to light.

Wake up each morning to the sun streaming in the magnificent front gable, stained glass, church window. Watch the waves roll in on the beach from your bed in the loft. Spend your days relaxing in the plush Lloyd Flanders furniture on the patio and upper deck overlooking the ocean. Enjoy a sparkling clean hot tub with a whitewater ocean view and watch the sun set on the ocean. BBQ and have dinner under the stars on the deck. Make some memories while gathered around the outdoor fireplace. Fall asleep in plush beds to the sounds of the waves breaking on the beach.

A one of a kind place for that special occasion. The cottage has been featured in the Travel section of the New York Times, 'Elegant Bungalows' by Bethany Lyttle, on February 8th, 2008. It was also used as the set for the short film by Tarik Haddad, 'The Sound of a Yellow Flower', which played in the London Film Festival and the Dubai Film Festival's, among others. Gary William Kohler wrote and recorded a song about the cottage, 'Full Circle', that is included on his CD, 'Nowhere to be Found'.

This cottage is pure romantic bliss.

The cottage is meticulously maintained to the highest cleaning standards. It is cleaned with eco-friendly products for 5 to 6 hours between each guest and deep cleaned once a month for five hours. Down pillows are washed regularly and have pillow covers under the pillow cases. The Hot Springs spa has a sophisticated ozone filter system and is also thoroughly completely cleaned between each guest. The cleaning fee of $125 is a separate fee and paid at check-out.

About Tom

Robin is an interior designer who has been featured in the Home Section of the San Francisco Chronicle, the New York Times, Details magazine and the books Sonoma Valley Style, and California Wine Country and several other publications.

Tom purchased this cabin in 1990

Why Tom chose North Coast California

Dillon Beach is an old fishing village built right after the turn of the century. You feel like your 1,000 miles from 'civilization' when you are there. It is like 'the town that time forgot' perched on the edge of the world, overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Tomales Bay.

This restored, all redwood artist studio, is truly a one-of-a-kind and the perfect place for a romantic getaway or just simple peace, quiet and solitude.

What makes this cabin unique

Historic property. Dramatic backyard ocean views, smells and sounds. All Redwood interior, 17' vaulted ceiling, loft, short walk to the beach. Good bones.

Happy Couple

  • 5 of 5

Once we arrived at the cottage we were speechless. The careful attention to detail from the craftsmanship of the home to the decor and amenities was amazing. I've personally worked in some very high end expensive places...some that go for over 3,000.00 a night and I would choose this place over those any day! For a couple it is one of the most romantic, charming place we could have imagined. I just want to say thank you to Tom for the opportunity to stay and share this wonderful place. The pictures were hard to believe but once we showed up it was apparent that the owners and caretakers go through a great deal to make this place special.

Great Little Cottage!

  • 4 of 5

My husband Carl and I stayed here so many years ago I can't put in the right date! So I put in our Anniversary date! It was long before it was updated with a beautiful back yard and hot tub! It was a very peaceful and relaxing place way back then and I can't wait to go again now that we are retired! Looking forward to spending some more memory making times there with our grown children! Still enjoying the many pictures we took there! Makes me want to go back every time I look at my pictures of Full Circle Cottage! Looking forward also to seeing all the NEW stuff the owners have added to this adorable cottage! Loved it!

I need more stars!!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful cottage! This place has absolutely everything you need, even a washer and dryer! Lots of artwork to enjoy. Beautiful stained glass windows throughout the cottage. Out back, there is a nice hot tub and also a covered area with plenty of comfy seating to enjoy the large fireplace. Open the windows and enjoy the ocean breeze during the day and then be lulled to sleep at night listening to the waves come in. Just a wonderful time!!

Tom and Linda were both wonderful to work with. Really nice folks! Looking forward to my next trip down to "Full Circle"!!

Five stars isn't nearly enough.

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is amazing in every way. It is beautifully appointed inside and out--not a single detail was overlooked. This was the first leg of four stops during our visit to California. After just a few days, we'd wished we'd planned to spend more of our time here. We spent a little time on the beach, but otherwise, our group preferred to lounge around on the beautiful patio as much as possible.

Cooking in is great with the wonderfully appointed kitchen. We bought food in Petaluma to prepare; however, there are a few general stores not far from the cottage that have basic essentials. The freezer does not have an ice maker, so buy bagged ice if you'll need more than what two ice trays will provide.

There is fantastic artwork throughout the cottage. Be sure to read the document in the laundry room that tells about all of it. Creatively written and it's fun to know the story behind each piece.

Did I mention the chocolates and wine?! Mmmm....Again, not a detail overlooked. Take a moment to appreciate the thought put into the box of chocolates. It's a great indication of just how special this place is to its owners. We felt very grateful to have the opportunity to experience it firsthand.

Thank you for a wonderful stay in a wonderful place!

NOT ON THE BEACH !

  • 4 of 5

NICE SOLID HOME, BUT KINDA IN NEED OF UPDATING ESPECIALLY WOOD PANELING IN HOME. APPLIANCES ARE ALL SOLID IN GREAT WORKING CONDITION. 25.00 FEE NOT MENTIONED BEFORE U ARRIVE, IF U USE BBQ OR BURN WOOD OUTSIDE IN FIREPLACE. BED DOWNSTAIRS IS GREAT, VIEWS ARE GREAT, HOUSE VERY CLEAN, VERY ROMANTIC PLACE, OUTSIDE TWO TIER DECKS ARE NICE, ALL IN ALL WE HAD A NICE STAY. OH YES, DILLON BEACH IS VERY FAR FROM TOWN AND EVERYTHING IS A DRIVE, LOTS OF TWIST AND TURNS MUST HAVE GPS OR FORGET IT. THE CAFE AND MARKET WALKING DISTANCE FROM HOUSE IS GREAT AND THE BEACH AREA IS NICE, SO YOU COULD STAY AT HOUSE WITHOUT DRIVING ANYWHERE IF YOU ARE PREPARED. HAVE FUN. :)

Owner's Response: It is so unfortunate but every 100 guests or so, we get someone who has clearly not read the website. No the cottage is "NOT ON THE BEACH!" but "Located just 200 strides from the beach down Bumble Bee Path".as the second paragraph on the website and Google Earth clearly point out. The views of the beach and ocean, are from almost every room in the cottage and the entire backyard. There are no extra fees that are not clearly listed on the website. The suggestion that we "refurbish" the 98 year old first growth unstained redwood walls is almost beyond belief. "Refurbish" how, with fake wood paneling, sheetrock, paint? I don't think so. To be clear, this is Zella Lee Gibson's restored artist studio built in 1918, with the original first growth unstained redwood interior walls and a 17' high ridge line. The cottage is often mistaken for a church not a Marriot Hotel. If you are looking for a luxurious romantic coastal cottage with historic rustic charm, high end appliances and amenities and total attention to detail you have found the right place. Read the other reviews to get an even assessment of the cottage and the experience.
