About Naomi Nolan
During our annual trips to Alaska, we fell in LOVE with Cooper Landing Alaska. It's right in the middle the Alaskan recreation area and fishing hub.. And, it's so gorgeous! Alaska's call Cooper Landing the 'Lake Tahoe' area of the North. Only 102 miles outside of Anchorage and easy commute to other major cities on the Kenai Peninsula like Homer, Seward, Kenai, Soldotna, Ninilchick, and Hope.
Naomi Nolan purchased this Cottage in 1994
Why Naomi Nolan chose Cooper Landing
We chose Cooper Landing because of it's beauty, the river and because it's a quaint small town close to everything else.

A Delightful Place to Stay! Very impressed with how clean and organized everything was!
We had 2 couples in our party. One couple upstairs and one downstairs. The space to gather for our morning coffee, or in the evening to watch a movie was quite adequate and comfortable. The view out the window from the dining area looking out at the gorgeous turquoise water of the Kenai River, watching the rafters and various fly fishers float by...also the area down by the water to sit and just relax. Splendid! We had a salmon BBQ dinner one night out on the deck amongst the beautiful potted flowers.
Visited Seward, Soldotna, Kenai and Homer and hiked the Russian River....all very easy day trips. This was a wonderful place to stay and would love to return...hopefully soon!
Great Place, Central location
Really enjoyed our two weeks here in Cooper Landing, celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. Great location, central to South Central AK. Went to Whittier, Seward, all the way to Homer and even to Hope. All day trips from here. And this location, we always took a rest day between day trips to soak up the atmosphere of this place. We loved every minute of it.
WE WANT TO ADD MORE STARS!
My husband and I have just returned from two blissful weeks in this comfortable and charming cottage on Kenai River. It is light and airy even on a cloudy day. We were awed by the huge eagle perching on the tree at the water's edge, and watched him from the window overlooking the large outside deck. We hiked, fished and explored everyday. We have already recommended this home to our son and his family. It is perfect from every point of view. Terrific central location for visiting Soldotna, Homer, and Seward. Only two hours from Anchorage. Amazing and hospitable hosts. You cannot do better than this! We can't wait to return.
Extremely well kept cabin. Very clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for day trips for hikes and fishing. Being on the river, dinner is just a cast away with the basic fishing gear provided in the cabin.
The only reason for not giving the property a five star rating is the lack of information on the location of the second bedroom. We did not expect the second bed/bath to be an extension of the back of the under house garage. Although the second bed/bath was clean and comfortable it was not detailed by location in the advertisement. With that said it would not deter me form staying here again. The owners were very upfront and accommodating. The care person for the property was extremely nice.
We even met one of the neighbors and went with him on a float trip down the Kenai. One or the high lights of the stay.
I would certainly recommend this location for a quite getaway and a base of operation to Seward, Kenai and even Homer.
Local restaurant named Sackettes had decent pizza and a bar.
Thanks for making this property available for our first Father/Son vacation.
Thank you for taking your time to provide valuable feedback on our place in Cooper Landing. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom were an add on a few years back and provides a comfortable separate bedroom/bathroom for either families who want their own space (it has a wall hung tv w a built in dvd player (no cable hooked up though) separate from parents or another couple traveling together. You must go into the garage portion of the home to access the second bath/bedroom. Also, we are semi remote so all the homes in the area are on well water so for those person(s) used to chlorinated "city" water, please do not stay in small town(s) Alaska, stay in Anchorage! So glad you had a wonderful dad/son trip and would consider coming back...always welcome back!
Best of Alaska
My husband and I decided every year to go to Alaska and do some fishing.
We stayed twice now in this Rental. We could not have asked for a better place to spend our extended time in Alaska, and create some wonderful memories at this Kenai Tiver Cottage Home.
First the owner is/was very accommodating to our party. The home is how it was described: lovely with every need covered. The Cottage is beautiful decorate and a great place to spend with family. We were fortunate to find this home to rent.
Having the Kenai River on your backyard was wonderful. The outside deck was great to enjoy breakfast dinner or just relax with a glass of wine and a good book.
If you are looking for a vacation rental near to the surrounding Cooper Landing area, I wouldn't think twice about booking this house.
Part of the charm of Alaska is being able to stay in places like Cooper Landing, where you can get out the city and simply enjoy nature. We are definitely small town Alaska, one of the most gorgeous areas within driving distance to all things on the Kenai peninsula. Although we are semi-rural, on well water and septic, our place is easy to get to, wonderful location, and offers a more comfortable home like stay rather than staying at the usual hotel options. So happy to hear you could relax and enjoy!
The extra bedroom is entered through the garage, which means the bedroom smells like the garage. The water smells like rotten eggs, so you have to purchase water for everything. Whatever you wash, including dishes and yourself will smell.
Unfortunately, we have had an overwhelming positive reviews and this review came out of the blue as a complete surprise. We ALWAYS provide our local caretaker/manager contact name and number for ANY issues, help or advice that a guest may need. Our caretaker is the best, she always is on top of her game, is thoughtful and professional. It's unfortunate that the guest did not contact us or our manager( or us) during their stay so that any of these issues could be resolved. The odor they were talking about was apparently gas from an ATV parked in the adjacent/separate garage, which was an easy "fix" and the water has NEVER been an issue with ANYONE staying at our place. I wish we could have had someone come out while the guest was staying at our cabin to verify/resolve these things while they were in Cooper Landing...we are so sad about this especially since they had our email, my cell, the caretaker's contact information as well.
Cooper Landing boasts awesome fishing grounds on the Kenai River. Find fishing on the cottage's private waterfront property (fish for trout yearlong or silver salmon in the late summer/fall). Salmon fishing during the mid-summer months is best downriver a few miles at the confluence of the Russian/Kenai Rivers. You will find a small passenger ferry and boat ramp/fishing access area with fee parking there. You will also find private bank fishing at various other locations when the fish are running. Typically, there's always fabulous trout fishing year round in the Kenai river and its tributaries. Private, for hire guides are available during the summer months.
Rafting down the Upper Kenai is a FABULOUS daytrip. There are a couple of Rafting outfitters in Cooper Landing.
Horseback riding is also available in Cooper Landing. There are many public hiking trails. During the height of summer, try the Russian River trail to the falls for the possibility of seeing Brown/Black bear fishing for salmon.
There are several GREAT restaurants in the area, a small grocery store, and some great little gift shops as well in Cooper Landing.
Cooper Landing is a great 'home base' or 'jumping off' point to other places of interest on the Kenai Peninsula.
Opportunity to take fun daytrips to other points of interest include:
Short drive to either Seward or Kenai/Soldotna/Ninilchick/Homer to go sightseeing, shopping, fresh/salt water fishing, fly fishing.
Clamming during summer months during low tides in Clam Gulch/Ninilchick area approx 90 minute drive from Cooper Landing.
Two hour drive to Homer, Alaska.
Seward (35 minutes drive) has shopping, salt water fishing, glacier tours, Kenai Fiord tours, horseback riding, visit an Iditarod sledding team tour and an aquarium as well as many restaurants.
