|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
A Beachfront house: three full bedrooms, master suite with private bath and full ocean view, second bedroom with two twin beds, third bedroom- game room/ family room with sleeper couch, sleeps two. It is really comfortable, we have tried it out to make sure!
The house is brand new and everything in it is new. It includes all the modern amenities; dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer etc. There is a wrap around porch, outdoor beach side deck and outdoor shower.
Martin and I have been long time friends with Grand Turk! Martin started coming to Grand Turk with his folks in 1964. They fell in love with the island and made a home there. It had just been electrified! Martin brought me once we were engaged in 1974 and we have been coming ever since. When we arrive each time our friends say, "Welcome home!"
Martin and Donna Seim purchased this cottage in 2014
Lucayan Shores is a very special property, once belonging to the Lucayan Indians, the original settlers on the island. Archaeological finds have confirmed that Lucayan Indians returned seasonally to this exact shore, 600 to 800 years ago, which we have
lovingly named after them.
We built these four cottages in the style of an old Bermudian cottage on the outside and full of modern comforts on the inside! The beach is a lovely walking beach, encouraging beach combing and bird watching. The sunsets are spectacular! We do love these Lucayan Shores!
I would order another slice of the Lemon Meringue any day. The house had a great layout. From making dinners in the kitchen to eating and playing games in the open dining room this house was made to enjoy the company of those whom you're with.
We found the end of the road privacy a special treat as well. Hours of beach time heading North, offered quiet white sand loaded with treasures to examine and appreciate.
Deb was splendid as well. The minute we landed our collective stress levels dissolved. Deb's easy manner and helpful tips ensured a great stay at a great house.
I highly recommend this house to any group or family that wants to get away and get back to the simple joys of life.
Our time at Lemon Meringue was so relaxing and so comfortable both inside and outside. This house has the best material used in kitchen and bathrooms, with clean beautiful furnishings, and top-notch appliances. The lemon-colored Bermudian style home with its matching colored gate and white fencing and veranda were so cheerful and pleasing to see and enjoy every day. The landscaping with its tropical plants and palms were neatly manicured and further added to the beauty of this property.
As a bonus, this property was located directly on the beach of the west side of Grand Turk. We were blessed with blue skies and colorful sunsets. The beach area had soft sand and was great for exploring for shells washed up, and for lounging on the raised platform to read a book with or without an umbrella.
We had the pleasure of seeing white egrets and herons fly in and land on the lawn, usually in the morning hours. Wild donkeys and horses on the road into Cockburn Town made for a very natural, countrylike ambience for suburban dwellers like us. We had four wonderful days diving with Grand Turk Diving, seeing the Lighthouse and the Cruise Port, and eating wonderful meals at the local restaurants. A must-see was the Turks and Caicos Museum.
The owners, Martin and Donna Seim, were very gracious and welcoming and did everything to make our stay memorable. We thoroughly enjoyed Lemon Meringue and the friendly people of Grand Turk! We thank them for sharing their home with us.
We were a family of 6 adults (4 adult kids) and loved the quiet peacefulness of this cottage. On our first morning, we were greeted by 4 wild horses flying down the beach.
It was a great place to unwind, reacquaint with each other and chill on the lovely veranda.
Every day we did long beach walks and watched the sunset. The days were spent Diving or Snorkeling with Blue Water Dives which we also highly recommend.
You definitely need hard sole booties to swim anywhere near the cottage as the coral is sharp and plentiful.
As we were a family of 6 adults who love to cook and who also wanted to avoid the high costs of good meals on Grand Turk, we did find the kitchen appliances(stove, dishwasher) basic. Also in the third bedroom with the Swedish pull out sofa - the sofa was much to small for 2 adults... it would have been fine for 2 children or one adult.
There was a drought and by the third day we had run out run out of water. This was dealt with within 45 minutes so we were pleased with the response.
All-in-all a good place for a family reunion.
Our stay was perfect! It was comfortable, private and beautiful! The owners thought of everything ( even a wonderful beach umbrella so we didn't burn up) . Grand Turk is relaxing and exquisite!
We could not have been happier with our stay at Lemon Meringue on Grand Turk! The cottage is on the north west side of the island, away from it all. Only a few people passed our beach the entire week. We saw more horses than people!
This new house was perfect, very well decorated, very spacious (larger than we thought it would be), clean and had everything we needed to cook a couple of meals relax on the beach (beach towels and beach chairs). The exterior property was the best part. We could sit on the back covered porch and enjoy the unobstructed view of the beautiful beach, or walk out to the beach at relax on the deck pad on the beach. Every night we watched the most beautiful sunsets.
The residents on the island were incredibly friendly and always willing to help figure out what to do or where to go. Deb, the house manager, met us at the airport and helped us figure out where everything was located on the island and helped us during the week if we had any questions. Bohio resort, a mile down the beach and an easy walk had a great bar-b-que night, burger night and rum punch. Several restaurants and beach bars are all right on the beach road in the charming town. Salt Rakers was our favorite dinner with great food and lots of locals and the Sand Bar was a perfect place for a coctail or beer.
We rented snorkel gear and snorkeled off several great beaches in the crystal clear waters. One day we took a boat out with GT Diving and snorkeled on the harder to reach reefs. We rented a golf cart from Omar for the week; rates were reasonable and he left the cart at the airport for us, so it was the easiest rental ever. The road in many spots hugs the beach and the view is fantastic. The water is absolutely incredible. The scene is very laid back which was perfect for us. No need to dress up here. If you love resorts, this is probably not the place for you.
The cruise ships do dock during the day on the south end of the island. We never saw cruisers up by our beach and only the beach near the cruise center was packed with people; it was easy to avoid them. Some tours come into town, but we never felt like it was crowded because of them. Lastly, Donna and Martin, the owners, were very helpful with giving us information about Grand Turk, where to go and what to do before our trip. There was also a lot of material at the cottage about Grand Turk. This was the perfect escape!
Absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Very professionally handled by owners Donna and Martin who we had the pleasure of meeting over drinks at the Salt Raker! They went all out to make our stay wonderful. So kind and considerate, they offered a high-class experience from the outset. A beautiful and private setting right on the beach with fabulous landscaping and a classy high-end furnished place. The mattresses were absolutely wonderful and the air conditioning, fans, etc made for complete comfort. We enjoyed the chance to make some of our own meals in the wonderful kitchen but also enjoyed some great meals out at Bohio and the Osprey. Just a charming and non-touristy get away! The birds were amazing for any bird watchers out there. I highly recommend the Grand Turk island and the Lemon Meringue House in particular; I think it is the best accommodation on the island and you will not go wrong with Donna and Martin who pay attention to every last detail to assure your satisfaction. A great travel value!
Lucayan Shores is located on the north west beach just minutes from the Bohio Dive Resort (Bar, Restaurant, snorkeling, diving trips, Etc.). Historic Cockburn Town and the Grand Turk National Museum are a few short minutes away by car, bike or golf cart. This is a brand new home on a very private stretch of beach.
Grand Turk is only @ 7 miles long so everything is really close. If you are looking for "action", at the southern tip of the island you will find the Cruise terminal for bars, music, shopping and one of the largest fresh water pools in the Caribbean. (When the ships are in!) The northern tip features one of the oldest lighthouses in the Caribbean as well as cliffs for seabirds and dramatic views of the 2 1/2 mile North Reef, site of shipwrecks, rescues and drama.
In between you may explore superb birding sites, wild donkeys and horses grazing along the road, beaches such as Governors Beach and Pillory Beach, as well as the unique architecture and history of Grand Turk and Cockburn Town.
Stroll down the unique and beautiful Duke Street continuing on to Front Street and a visit to the National Museum. You won't be disappointed! Pull up a chair and have a break at Barbie's or the Sandbar. Peek in to the Anglican Church or the library. This is an area that rewards strolling around and exploring.
Most of the visitors who stay on Grand Turk are well aware of the world famous waters surrounding the island and the fantastic diving and snorkeling adventures awaiting just offshore. You do not need to take long boat trips to arrive at dive sites, they are right offshore. All of the dive shops on the island will be happy to guide your water adventures, including trips to Salt Cay, Gibb Cay, whale watch trips and more.
