We are the owners of The Kelley's Island Wine Co. Kirt is the Winemaker and Robby has a showroom and is an Interior Designer in a suburb of Cleveland. In the off season we travel around the world looking for treasures and finds for Robby's vintage boutique showroom. Having traveled as extensively as we do, we have become connosieurs of good food, wine and design. Our mantra is to 'enjoy and live life to the fullest'
Kirt Zettler purchased this house in 2010
We have had the privilege of raising three children in the Lake Erie area and know what it has to offer and we wanted to give others the opportunity to experience this wonderful fun-filled area. This particular home was specifically built and located for vacation rentals, ensuring an enjoyable and stress-free stay!
The house is part of the private Rye Beach Road association.. It has a reputation as a laid back beach neighborhood. The house is a stones throw from the park and very safe and secure.
We rented this home for a Cedar Point Weekend trip. The home is very clean and well decorated. I liked that they provided plenty of towels and extra sheets. Access/directions were easy. Kirt was easy to work with. It is in a good location--not too far from Cedar Point. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was the beds. I tried two different beds (upstairs blue room and downstairs sofa bed). The sofa bed is newer and therefore more comfortable. But, the upstairs beds were not comfortable and could use an update. (I looked at the manufactured date on both upstairs beds). The sheets were also pretty worn. Perhaps even a mattress pad could be an improvement.
Other than that, it was a nice stay for the price.
Small living room and common area. Dining room table only accommodates four people and nothing outside
either. Says it sleeps 8, but there are only 3 bedrooms. All beds are soft and the double bed is very saggy. Good pots and pans in the kitchen - other equipment adequate. Washer & dryer very convenient. Bathrooms adequate. Towels very nice. We had a small problem with a sink not draining and the house manager was very responsive. Lighting in the living room is poor.
Might have kept house a little cleaner if there were a doormat outside the front door. Would have made good use of kitchen shears.
My family of five stayed at this beautiful house at the end of June. Kirt was very easy to deal with, answered all of my questions quickly. The pictures do not do the house justice- it seems to have been updated and looks even better than the pictures. The house is very comfortable, plenty of room for my three kids and enough space for everyone to spread out. The keyless entry was very easy to deal with. The dining table is a little hard to get five people around, but it is easy enough to spread the kids around the spacious kitchen island. Comfortable couch, beds and pillows. It had everything I needed to cook, and the central AC was very nice with the warm temperatures. The house is on a narrow road, not far at all from the community park. The mayflies were in season so we did not spend much time there! Very close to Cedar Point and not a far drive to Cleveland (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). Just a few minutes to a gas station and small stores for quick stops, easy highway access as well. Neighbors were very nice and welcoming. Complimentary bottle of wine was a wonderful added bonus! Hope to stay again soon.
Nice home in a great private park area. Close to Cedar Point. We rented a couple of homes within a few blocks of each other and had a great family reunion. House was comfy, clean and very nice for the cost. We would rent there again.
Four of us stayed at the rental for four days, and it was wonderful! It was a quiet neighborhood and the keyless entry to the house meant we could come and go as we pleased without having to stress over who had the key. The private beach area was stunningly beautiful! Though the beach itself is kind of rocky, and the water is very chilly this time of year. The park area was fun, and even included a charcoal BBQ for those that prefer it over the gas one at the house. The complimentary bottle of wine was tasty too. The kitchen had nice pots to cook with. The couches were perfect for gathering around and playing games. And we even did our personal laundry there, which eliminated stress! As someone allergic to cats and sensitive to cigarette smoke, I didn't have any issues at all with the house. Oh, and the internet connection came in handy a couple of times!
As for negatives, I initially had trouble getting the application for reservation received and returned, but Robby Zettler was very helpful and we eventually were able to get it all figured out. The street that the house is on is kind of tight. It is a one-way road and we were driving a huge sedan, but even then it fit in the driveway without issue.
Overall we had a great visit and would totally book it again if we were in the area. And Cedar Point was worth the visit too!
Our family of seven (2 adults, 5 older kids..18,18,17,16,12) stayed here a few weeks ago while on vacation in Ohio. We chose the placed based on location (VERY close to Cedar Point and not far away from Cleveland). It was perfect for our needs!
Downstairs master bedroom was great for mom and dad. The upstairs was reserved for the kids. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed (minus the food), including a complimentary bottle of wine. Kirt was great to work with...very prompt with all emails, including a quick email while we were staying there.
Location is great, park was nice. This is our fifth year using VBRO for vacation and we have never been disappointed. Our streak is intact....another successful rental. Would highly recommend this place for families visiting Cedar Point.
