The house was as described and did not disappoint. The location was nice although be aware you do go up a mountain rd. After a few trips everyone in our party was comfortable with it. One of the best parts of our trip was the attentiveness of the property owner. Jerry was there to answer any questions and make sure we had everything needed as far as the house goes for a great trip. We were 3 couples and all felt as the space was accommodating. Great ride over to Asheville, Cherokee and the Dam.
Pictures of this cabin on VRBO do not do it justice. The cabin is gorgeous, well equipped and beautifully decorated. We only had to bring in our clothes and make a quick trip to the grocery store to have everything we needed for 3 couples.
Very nice. Quiet. Could use a dish rack for hand washing dishes. Also let people know that Chalk Hill Rd is dirt and quite rutted in places. Luckily we have a Volvo suv so it wasn't a problem. Took us a while to figure out that you can get from Chalk Hill Rd to Willis Cove directly. Overall very nice accommodations.
The house was perfect for our family's vacation. The house was clean and neat, everything we needed was available and we only needed to purchase food/drinks for our stay.
Kitchen: The kitchen was fully stocked for stove top, microwave, oven, and grill cooking including plates & utensils. Has a dishwasher and dish soaps.
Bathrooms: The bathrooms were stocked with towels, paper products, hand soap, and complimentary hair/body supplies.
Bedrooms: Each bed was big and comfortable, with clean beddings. Dressers and closets were available in each room. Every bedroom had its own attached bathroom. The two upstairs bedrooms had access to the deck plus TVs in room. TVs were also available in the upstairs living area & the downstairs area.
Laundry: a washer and dryer with laundry soap are available and it was handy washing clothes prior to leaving.
The area outside was beautifully landscaped and gave much privacy. The back deck offered views to the west and north. The front porch gave a nice view of sunrise. A short walk away is a beautifully landscaped terrace that provides a gazebo, several levels of picnic tables, and a fire pit. A walking trail and playground are nearby if you wish to explore.
We didn't have cell phone service since we didn't have AT&T or Verizon but thankfully, Wifi was available. The owner did drive around to check on things and I could communicate via email if I had questions. They went out of their way to make sure we were happy.
This was a low key vacation for us but we did go white water rafting on the Nantahala River (45 minute drive west) & that was a Blast! The Scottish Tartan Museum in downtown Franklin was interesting to us since we have Scottish roots but it may not appeal to all. Downtown Franklin was quaint and offered some nice places to eat, antique and book stores, and a gem museum. Our family did a day of massages & facials at Rainbow Healing Hands with Mary Ann and Lori. We plan on going river tubing during a future stay & taking a trip on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. For groceries & other items, a Walmart Super Center is located 15 minutes from the cottage.
The pictures do not capture the beauty of this location. Set a mile back among heavily wooded land, the cottage is a very well appointed place to rest and soak in nature. We stayed for a long weekend and enjoyed walking the trails, grilling out and eating on the deck, the outdoor firepit, and the close location to Franklin for some site seeing. The owners are very nice and were very welcoming. We want to come back.
A lot to do in the area especially for " rock hounds". Our 2 grandsons had a blast! The only downside was the drive up to the cabin would not be motorcycle friendly.
