Kennerdell House Rental Photos and Description

A Beautiful Cottage Nestled Within The Majestic Allegheny River Valley

Be present in the heart of nature watching and listening: bald eagles soaring, rare birds feeding, deer frolicking, geese gander, bears moseying, and the turkeys gobble. All this while you’re overlooking the Allegheny River. River Watch is the perfect cozy cottage with two bedrooms, a loft, equipped eat-in kitchen, bathroom and living room with full view sliding doors and deck boasting magestic views of the river, mountain valley and bike trail.

Located in charming St. George, (Kennerdell) Pa., this Venango County villa lies 15 bicycle miles in between the Historic Landmark towns of Franklin and Emlenton. Paved bike trails take you for miles into these quaint Middle American towns and beyond with antique shops and country eateries and unsurpassed, pristine riverfront scenery.

Fish or boat the river, hike the surrounding mountains, engage in bird-watching, bike to restaurants in nearby communities, or just sit fireside underneath a blanket of stars.

About Helene & Regis, proprietors. Pat, Scheduling Mgr.

We fell in love with the big sky and quiet starry nights, the smell of a campfire, the pristine river valley with bountiful nature (including frequent sightings of bald eagles), the clean, clear and shallow Allegheny River and the paved bike trails that go for miles, hiking, waterfalls and water sports. You're less than two hours from Pittsburgh and it feels as if you're in another part of the world.

Helene & Regis, proprietors. Pat, Scheduling Mgr. purchased this house in 1990

Why Helene & Regis, proprietors. Pat, Scheduling Mgr. chose Pennsylvania Wilds

This particular part of the river known as St George has manicured lawns to the river, beautiful trees and a view of the river bend like no other.

We found the house on a fluke and at the time it was an old fishing cabin built in 1926. Regis redsigned and remodeled the space of the course of 8 years. We poured our heart, soul and inclome into this house off the beaten path because it forced us to slow down; it nutured our soul and it washes off the stress every time we visit. I hope it will do the same for you.

What makes this house unique

The house is comfy and cozy and has terrific views. You don't even have to go outside to enjoy the feeling of being away and in the country. But you won't want to miss the beauty of the outdoors either.

The Allegheny Bike trail out front runs along the magestic Allegheny River and there are other cool bike trials nearby (The Justice Trail; Oil Creek State trail; Sandy Creek trail). As you ride your bike for miles along the winding river you feel one with nature. The river drops very low in the summer months allowing for safe play in the river. It's cool to see Mother Nature's calender of evolution; the butterfly emerging from their chrysalis , the awakening of the black bears, bull frogs finding their voices in the heat of the night, turtles laying their eggs, fish spawning, bald eagles nesting their offspring; comings and goings of the bird variety and the frisky hummingbirds. It really gives you pause as to what is important in life and how taking time to "smell the roses" is good for the soul (assuming you value that sort of thing).

Great location - amazing deck!

  • 4 of 5

The property was great but there was one drawback. It is listed as having Air Conditioning; it has ONE window air conditioner for the entire house. It was noisy and blew the cold air right on whoever was staying upstairs. With running it almost 24 / 7 and every ceiling fan in the house going, we were able to keep it tolerable, but a continued hot spell would have been the end of our comfort. Other than that we had a great time – the appliances are a little tricky to figure out – took an hour to figure out how to get the coffee pot working – so instructions on those would be nice.

The deck area was where we spent most of our time and it was wonderful. We had plenty of wood and had a fire every night.
