This Tri-level home is situated in Leelanau County, Michigan on a well-traveled minor arterial county road. The house sits back about 130 feet from the road and access is provided with a paved circular driveway. There are over 24 acres of private countryside with some beautiful panoramic views of South Lake Leelanau. Enjoy your own space on the Leelanau Peninsula while being close to the water, paved trails, attractions, and Traverse City. Scenic M22 and Grand Traverse Bay are just 2 1/2 miles to the east.
Along with Central Air Conditioning, there are ceiling fans in all three bedrooms. Hot water baseboard heat is provided for the cooler months.
All beds have high-end Tuft & Needle pressure relief mattresses and bedding is provided. There is one queen-size bed in each of the two north end bedrooms. The third bedroom has one double and one twin size bed.
The home is furnished comfortably. There is Charter high-speed internet, a 42 inch flat screen TV with cable on the main level, a 50" flat screen TV with cable in the newly remolded entertainment space, and a land-line phone. The kitchen appliances are as follows: a 30" electric range, 1.1 cubic foot microwave, toaster oven, a large 36" double-door refrigerator, a double bowl kitchen sink, along with a dishwasher. Basic cooking and serving utensils are included with service for 12. There is a laundry near the kitchen with a full-size washer, dryer and utility sink. There is also a smaller 16.5 cubic ft. refrigerator in the garage for additional cold storage.
A small bathroom with a small angled shower is on the main floor. On the upper level there is a large bathroom with a double vanity and tub/shower combo. Bath, hand towels, and washcloths are provided.
An original wood-burning fireplace offers a focal point while the larger living area surrounding it offers ample space for entertaining. There is seating for six in the dining room and for four on bar stools off the kitchen area.
The lower level is a newly remolded walk-out space for entertainment. There is ample comfortable seating and a large screen TV with cable.
There is a 24' x 24' two-car attached garage that can be used for cars or, perhaps, small boats. The interior depth is about 23' and is accessed by two 9' x 7' overhead doors with openers. The storage barn on the property is not included.
Outdoors, enjoy a private awning-covered dining area on the small deck, a picnic table, a grill, and even a fire pit with a grill and fireside chairs. There are two chaise lounges and chairs for relaxing. While there is no lush green lawn , the grass is kept mowed. There is plenty of open area with sunshine during the summer months.
The private property can be hiked (or try snowshoes in season), views of South Lake Leelanau can be discovered, and wildlife can be observed along with undisturbed flora and fauna. This needs to be done with the help of GPS guidance and the recent property survey to respectfully avoid trespassing on the neighboring lands. A copy of the survey can be emailed to you at your request. Please leave the land as you found it. No fires are allowed other than in the designated fire pit near the house. No motorized vehicles.
Practice your disc golf with the portable PDGA approved baskets and discs provided.
Boating activities, family outings, day trips, and fishing on Lake Leelanau is readily accommodated with the boat launch just 1/8 mile away. While not promoted, people do swim at the north end of the popular public boat launch site. Swimming is not allowed where the boats are actually launched.
Ride bikes, walk the dog, jog, roller blade, or ski on the groomed snow (in season) on the paved TART trail just one mile away. In town, there is the popular Hickery Hills Disc Golf Course.

Surrounded by many activities and places to see, such as vineyards, cherry farms, beaches, trails, cultural and city life, and great food , this property has over 24 acres of private land where nature abounds. The tree covered hills and valleys can be studied as moraines, or deposits left by the glaciers of long ago. There are wonderful panoramic views of South Lake Leelanau. A good life can be experienced here.

This is a wonderful spot. The home has plenty of space indoors and out, with the lawn and wooded property especially geared for relaxation. It's located between Traverse City and the Lake Michigan beaches, so you have the amenities of town as well as lovely views and outdoor activities.
The owners were very hospitable and even brought us some local goodies in the middle of our stay - which were consumed forthwith.
We'll definitely consider this home again when we venture Up North.
The home was clean and comfortable - your home away from home. It was spacious and readily accommodated 6 adults and a large dog. The beds were super comfortable. Also, you could adjust the air conditioning on the different levels of this tri-level home. The property and grounds were simply lovely. The owner provided more than excellent customer service - she provided customer care. She provided numerous brochures and booklets highlighting the many varied activities in the area. If you have a boat, there is a public boat launch on Lake Leelanau right across the street. There is also a superb bakery and market close to the house called Gallaghers. And, forget Bronners, the Country Christmas store close to the house is fabulous. A wonderful thing about this area is that there are some dog-friendly restaurants that serve great food, such as the 45th Parallel Cafe in Suttons Bay and the Good Harbor Grill in Glen Arbor. There are also long stretches of beaches along Lake Michigan which will readily accommodate your four-legged friend. The small shops, art galleries and new and used bookstores in Leland, Glen Arbor, and Suttons Bay are all a treat. The views of Lake Michigan from the look-out points in Sleeping Bear National Park are breathtaking. Michigan is truly a treasure. And after a long day of exploring, you can come home and relax in a clean and comfortable space. I would highly recommend this property to friends, relatives, or anyone looking for a comfortable get-away in Northern Michigan.
The house definitely met the needs of our family, which included 3 adults and 3 children. The pictures give a very accurate representation of the house. The kitchen was well stocked and provided plenty of dining space both inside and outside. We cooked several meals in the kitchen and on the outside grill. The house was clean, beds were comfortable and having 2 bathrooms was very convenient. The house is very private and we enjoyed having several acres to explore. The owners were very easy to work with and I'd definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a spot to stay. We enjoyed exploring the Leelanau area, including Leland, Sutton's Bay, biking on the TART trails, Sleeping Bear Dunes and more!
This was a nice change from battling the constant traffic around hotels in downtown Traverse City. The boat launch just a 1/4 mi away was also great! Home was clean and had thoughtful touches like soap/shampoo/lotion in each bathroom as well as a welcome bottle of wine and chocolates - YUM! Large yard and acres of woods meant kids had plenty of space to roam and the firepit with grate was very inviting.
Places we visited - Traverse City restaurants, beaches, Leland - fish town, horseback riding, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and we took a long day trip up to Pictured Rocks in Munising.
As someone who has been vacationing in Traverse City for six years, I have to say that this has by far been the best year my family and I have experienced. The house owners are wonderful and care about their guests, the home itself had a comfortable feeling to it, and everything was amazing.
1/8 mile west there is a popular public boat launch site to south lake Leelanau. The lake is about 1 mile wide at this point and, overall, is about 18 miles long. Travel to Leland by boat and visit its restaurants and shops. Fishing and boating activities abound.
14 miles away is historic Fish Town in Leland. Carlson's Fishery offers fresh and smoked fish. There are more than 50 unique shops and lots of art. Take the Manitou Island Ferry to the South Island.
One mile east is the paved TART trail system. Travel to Suttons Bay or Traverse City. Experience the picturesque views of forests, countryside and farms. The trail is groomed for cross country skiing during the winter. It's 20 miles to the VASA trail.
Leelanau has become known for its cool-climate wine production. 4 miles away is Boskydel Vineyard. It's Leelanau's pioneer winery that started it all. For info visit www.lpwines.com
30 miles away is the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore. It has been named among the most beautiful places in the world. Enjoy the sand dunes, Lake Michigan, the preserved farms, and the new 16 mile Paved Heritage Trail. The 7 mile Pierce Stocking scenic drive through the forest and sand dunes has views of lake Michigan.
Interlochen Center for the Arts provides world-class cultural programing. The open-sided Kresge amphitheater overlooking Green Lake is a very nice setting for concerts.
The National Writer's Series is held at the historic Opera House in downtown Traverse City. It holds interesting conversations with some of the best contemporary authors. Check the schedule for more events at the Opera House.
The Old Town Playhouse in Traverse City has been offering live theater for over 50 years.
The Traverse City Library holds various events in its beautiful setting.
The National Cherry Festival is a popular event held every year for the last 90 years. Starting on the 4th of July, it draws visitors from around the world.
The Traverse City Film Festival is rapidly growing in national popularity since its debut in 2005. There are free large-screen showings nightly on the open space by the bay. The festival begins at the end of July.
In Acme, about 20 miles away, there Is the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival held during the last 3 weeks of July.
Buckley holds the popular Old Engine Show in August.
Sites of Interest
The Village at Grand Traverse Commons includes an historic arboretum, restaurants (try Spanglish), a winery, fresh brick-oven artisan bread (Pleasanton Bakery), a coffee roaster (Higher Grounds), fresh cheesecake, specialty shops and walking trails.
While in Downtown Traverse City be sure to stop at the Cherry Republic for samples before you buy, Dick Murdick's for fudge, and Fustini's Oils and Vinegars. West of town you will find Moomer's Ice Cream, Grocer's Daughter Chocolates, and even a popular roadside taco stand at the Cedar Sol Hydro Farm.
There is the Casino and dining at the Peshawbeston Indian reservation about 15 miles away.
The Grand Traverse region is becoming know for its food. The food scene is growing and the locality is emphasized. There are many vegetarian and vegan options at various restaurants. According to the July 13th, 2015 edition of People magazine, Traverse City is ranked alongside Portland, Austin, and Orlando.
Area restaurants to try include: The Cove in Leland, Little Traverse Inn in Maple City, Boone's Prime Time Pub and Martha's Leelanau Table in Suttons Bay.
In Traverse City there's the Apache Trout Grill, Red Ginger, Red Mesa Grill, Trattoria Stella in the Grand Traverse Commons, and The Franklin. The Harvest has great reviews. Don't forget to try Boone's long Lake Inn if you are hungry for steak.
For a quick lunch it's hard to beat Oryana's Lake Street Cafe with it's organic fresh food and Co-Op store. Other good choices are Swiche's Deli near the Old Town Playhouse and Spanglish in the Commons for tasty Mexican fare. Bay Bread, Folgarellis market, and Grand Traverse Pie Company are additional options. There is Rico's Cafe and Pizzeria south of town.
For a quick pizza there is the Shady Lane Party Store about 3.5 miles away. For a brick-oven pizza there is Full Moon Pizza in Traverse City.
Freshly baked breads include: Pleasanton Brick-Oven Bakery, Bay Bread, and Stonehouse Bakery.

Dick's Pour House in Lake Leelanau is about 5 miles away, Eddie's Villiage Inn in Suttons Bay about 7 miles away, and the historic Sleder's Tavern in Traverse City about 10 miles away. If you visit the Interlochen area, the Hofbrau has 52 beers on tap featuring Michigan made beers. There are many craft brewers in the area.

Cancellation fees: If notice is given before 30 calender days prior to check-in, no cancellation fee is required and deposit will be returned.
25% of deposit will be refunded if you cancel between 29 calender days and 8 calender days before check-in.
No deposits will be refunded if you cancel between 7 calender days and the date of check-in.
Unforeseen family emergencies will certainly be considered in regards to any fees.
Responsible party must be at least 25 years of age.
We reserve the right to evict if there is excessive noise, partying, or over occupancy.
Renters are responsible and will be billed for any extra costs that they cause to be placed on the cable TV and telephone account.
Renters are responsible to insure that they do not trespass on neighboring properties. The property is to be left as it is found. Small campfires are only allowed in the fire-pit provided. If local or state government prohibits any burning for any period, it is the renter's responsibility to follow the law. Any campfires are not to be left unattended and any hot embers are to be thoroughly put out with water before leaving the area. A garden hose is provided. If a wildfire is determined to have been caused by a renter's negligence, any and all costs associated with putting it out and repairing the damaged property will be billed to the renter.
