Overview

About the property

Ocean view House , 1 Bedroom + futon, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 3 Max.)

If view matters, this is IT! So close to 2 beaches (Playas Pelada and Nosara - both just a couple minutes stroll down the hill) that the ocean sounds will constantly surround and soothe you. This home and area is tranquil and unique because it is within the wildlife refuge yet very close to restaurants and all Nosara has to offer. The attached guest house sits at the end of Playa Pelada, 30 meters above the river mouth looking down the black sand beach of Playa Nosara at the Ostional turtle sanctuary. The view is of the beach and also of the most amazing estuary where two rivers (Montana and Nosara) come together and flow into the Pacific. The view then continues up into the mountains. There is no better view anywhere with the constant changing of the estuary, waves rolling in, fablous bird watching and the abundant wildlife. This is a rare home inside the wildlife refuge. The 1st floor attached guest home is 1000 sq feet with 1 bedroom with queen bed and 2 full baths, large covered deck and a futon in the living area. Ideal for couples but will accommodate 3. Nicely decorated, air conditioned, private and secure. You will not want to leave. The pool (shared with us if we are there) has a fantastic infinity edge showcasing the view, a spa bench with jets and a beach area to lounge in!

The Beaches of Nosara is a tranquil gem on a series of gorgeous beaches on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. Nosara is one place in Costa Rica where the development has been controlled, preserving the natural flora and fauna. Yet the availability of great dining and the attraction of the world-class surfing at Playa Guiones and deep sea fishing can not be denied. Not to mention this is just one laid-back and cool place to be! Nosara made the New York Times list of the 45 places to visit in 2012 and has made many more "must see" lists every year since! Now, Nosara has the longest zip line canopy tour, pure excitement! Take a river tour to see the birds and wildlife with our friends at River Safari Boat Tours or a tranquil horse ride through jungle and beach with our friends at Boca Nosara tours, a 3 minute walk from the home. Dine at wonderful Mexican, Italian, Mediterranean, restaurants and the local Costa Rican and seafood restaurants. Walk 5 minutes to Playa Pelada, one of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world. Here you can buy the fresh catch of the day, sip a refreshment and watch the fabulous sunset.

Spectacular, Private Ocean View - Peaceful Comfort

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this lovely setting in early March. We had only a few days and are ready to go back! The views are expansive - the photos do not do justice to the beauty. Our favorite beach was Playa Nosara - soft black sand - and so private that at times we were the only ones on the beach! The rivers and Biological Reserve add so much to the natural setting away from the busy-ness of the other local beaches. We enjoyed those too, of course, and all that Nosara had to offer. Food, sun, yoga, massage, shopping - but coming back to our comfortable 'home', pool, and the private beauty surrounding us was the best part of everyday.

Cathy and Carl are exceptional hosts. Every communication was timely, thorough, and so helpful in our preparations. During our stay we felt we had privacy but always knew our questions would be answered. Their love and care of their home is evident and we benefited from their passion.

As the other reviews stated, the driving requires an adventurous spirit but don't let it deter you from traveling in Costa Rica. You can walk / hike to many of the places you will want to see in Nosara and after a bit the driving becomes just a part of the lifestyle. No hurry. Pura Vida!

Fantastico!

  • 5 of 5

I never review, but it was too good not to. Wish I'd have booked a longer stay, but too much to see and pack in during our trip. The place and especially the view were amazing.

Kathy, the host, is a gem. Very sweet and accomodating. Wish we'd had a little more time to get to know her. However, if you like your privacy, you get it here. Just a spectacular place to stay. And if we get back to Nosara, this will be out 1st choice.

It's amazing

  • 5 of 5

Back home in the cold and snow, I can only dream about our week in Nosara. How healthy I felt with no runny nose and our choice of fresh local food to fix in our own kitchen. The view really is as awesome and the apartment as charming as the other reviews have reported. Carl and Cathy are there if needed, but give you all the privacy you desire. It is a couples dream, either starting with the honeymoon or re-connecting. You just lucked up and found The real deal, book it if available. You will not regret it. PS, yes the road is alittle rough and there are animals because you are in a natural environment, but so worth it it to NOT be in commercial setting with thousands of other tourists. You can hike down to local pristine beaches where you are one of a hundred instead of thousands.

Christmas in Costa Rica!!!!

  • 5 of 5

First and Foremost, our hosts, Cathy & Carl, couldn't have been nicer and went above and beyond. They were incredibly helpful with all details for the area but never in an intrusive way.

The natural beauty of Nosara and Casa Vista Tranquila have to be some of most spectacular on this earth!! You can choose to REFRESH or go all out on a zipline adventure, river boat tour or explore all the natural beauty on a hike!

From Casa Tranquila there are paths leading to either a white sand beach or a black sand beach. You pick it wither it be cascading cliffs, tide pools, bird watching, chilling on the beach, it was amazing.

The restaurants in the area were incredible, fresh, and innovative. We never had a bad meal and the choices and possibilities were crazy.

Thank you Cathy and Carl for opening up your home in paradise and we look forward to returning as quickly as possible.

Stop looking -- this is the jackpot!

  • 5 of 5

I spent many weeks looking for an affordable place to stay in this area of Costa Rica-- I wanted to find something clean within my budget where I could see the ocean from the home. This place is extraordinary! When we arrived, my first thought was "Whoa, I can't believe it is actually this nice!" The pictures are beautiful but do not capture the constant, soothing sounds of the ocean and the gentle, flowing air that cradle your mind and body round the clock here.

This is a downstairs apartment, and the wonderful owners live above it (when they cannot be there, they have a caretaker who is very helpful). You share their spectacular infinity swimming pool. You have your own private patio with the view shown in the picture, but the photo cannot do justice to the reality. The apartment is simple and clean. My sister lives near there and stayed with my two kids and me in the apartment. She raved that it is astonishingly bug-free compared to anything else one would get in CR. There were a few little critters, but far fewer than the norm there; the house is well-contained. Just keep your food covered and closed up, and you are fine. It is a hike downhill to the peaceful, secluded beach, but do not attempt it in flip flops. I wore Trekking sandals for that and it worked out great. The neighbors told me that this home is extraordinary because they no longer allow people to build so close to the beach. You won't find anything to rival it!

I recommend renting an SUV to be able to drive around to nearby beaches, which are different and full of character. There are a couple of local car rental places that work fine. The roads in this area seemed crazy to my U.S.- and Europe-accustomed body -- they are dirt roads with potholes that are more like craters that get deeper during the dry season. Do not attempt them without an SUV! But also do not be afraid to drive there -- it is do-able, just very adventurous! You will get used to constant dust covering everything, even you, when you are driving. And be aware that people drive to avoid the craters, not to stay on their side of the road. And you will share the road with entire families piled onto one bicycle or moped or quad. And dogs lie in the road, I suppose to cool off. And you will have to drive through rivers, too. :) So be alert, be adventurous, and enjoy!

This place is an affordable gem with stunning views and sounds and extraordinary owners. You will marvel at the all-encompassing tranquility!

Beautiful, Affordable Home with Spectacular Views!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful property for one week in April during the dry season and it was truly not long enough. While the roads leading to Nosara are rough and challenging, they have kept the small towns of Nosara and Guiones tucked away and undeveloped. It truly is an escape away from it all. The house was well-equipped, well-maintained, and offered at a very reasonable price. The wildlife (Howler monkeys, coatimundi, array of birds, and more), sunsets, and views of the Nosara and Montana Rivers as they join the Pacific Ocean were beyond spectacular. We loved relaxing around the beautiful, warm infinity pool. The beaches are gorgeous and we enjoyed visiting Nosara, Peleda, Garza, Guiones, and Samara. Peleda and Guiones do not have much shade but there are palm trees on the others. There's a small bike shop in Guiones that rents beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers. We highly recommend hiking the trails at the entrance to the Biological Reserve, which is very close to the house near the Nosara River and the trails right near the house that lead down to Playa Peleda. We found a wide array of pretty shells and huge sand dollars hiking down Nosara Beach at low tide. We took surfing lessons on Guiones, which was perfect for beginners at low tide. We enjoyed eating breakfasts at Cafe Paris in Guiones, the local tico-style food at Rancho Tico, and dinner at La Luna (get the Greek humus appetizer - yummy!). While Carl and Cathy were not at the house during our stay, we felt comfortable with Alex and Alejandro, who checked in on us and were there if we needed anything. Don't forget to feed their family of goats across the street. We highly recommend the house!
