If view matters, this is IT! So close to 2 beaches (Playas Pelada and Nosara - both just a couple minutes stroll down the hill) that the ocean sounds will constantly surround and soothe you. This home and area is tranquil and unique because it is within the wildlife refuge yet very close to restaurants and all Nosara has to offer. The attached guest house sits at the end of Playa Pelada, 30 meters above the river mouth looking down the black sand beach of Playa Nosara at the Ostional turtle sanctuary. The view is of the beach and also of the most amazing estuary where two rivers (Montana and Nosara) come together and flow into the Pacific. The view then continues up into the mountains. There is no better view anywhere with the constant changing of the estuary, waves rolling in, fablous bird watching and the abundant wildlife. This is a rare home inside the wildlife refuge. The 1st floor attached guest home is 1000 sq feet with 1 bedroom with queen bed and 2 full baths, large covered deck and a futon in the living area. Ideal for couples but will accommodate 3. Nicely decorated, air conditioned, private and secure. You will not want to leave. The pool (shared with us if we are there) has a fantastic infinity edge showcasing the view, a spa bench with jets and a beach area to lounge in!
The Beaches of Nosara is a tranquil gem on a series of gorgeous beaches on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. Nosara is one place in Costa Rica where the development has been controlled, preserving the natural flora and fauna. Yet the availability of great dining and the attraction of the world-class surfing at Playa Guiones and deep sea fishing can not be denied. Not to mention this is just one laid-back and cool place to be! Nosara made the New York Times list of the 45 places to visit in 2012 and has made many more "must see" lists every year since! Now, Nosara has the longest zip line canopy tour, pure excitement! Take a river tour to see the birds and wildlife with our friends at River Safari Boat Tours or a tranquil horse ride through jungle and beach with our friends at Boca Nosara tours, a 3 minute walk from the home. Dine at wonderful Mexican, Italian, Mediterranean, restaurants and the local Costa Rican and seafood restaurants. Walk 5 minutes to Playa Pelada, one of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world. Here you can buy the fresh catch of the day, sip a refreshment and watch the fabulous sunset.

This is a very unique loction, no place quite like it! Having seclusion, a world class view and being in the wildlife refuge is incredible.Yet we are still close to everything that is Nosara.
The pool overlooking the beach and estuary is one of a kind. Great hiking, bird and animal watching right here, within the wildlife refuge.
I spent many weeks looking for an affordable place to stay in this area of Costa Rica-- I wanted to find something clean within my budget where I could see the ocean from the home. This place is extraordinary! When we arrived, my first thought was "Whoa, I can't believe it is actually this nice!" The pictures are beautiful but do not capture the constant, soothing sounds of the ocean and the gentle, flowing air that cradle your mind and body round the clock here.
This is a downstairs apartment, and the wonderful owners live above it (when they cannot be there, they have a caretaker who is very helpful). You share their spectacular infinity swimming pool. You have your own private patio with the view shown in the picture, but the photo cannot do justice to the reality. The apartment is simple and clean. My sister lives near there and stayed with my two kids and me in the apartment. She raved that it is astonishingly bug-free compared to anything else one would get in CR. There were a few little critters, but far fewer than the norm there; the house is well-contained. Just keep your food covered and closed up, and you are fine. It is a hike downhill to the peaceful, secluded beach, but do not attempt it in flip flops. I wore Trekking sandals for that and it worked out great. The neighbors told me that this home is extraordinary because they no longer allow people to build so close to the beach. You won't find anything to rival it!
I recommend renting an SUV to be able to drive around to nearby beaches, which are different and full of character. There are a couple of local car rental places that work fine. The roads in this area seemed crazy to my U.S.- and Europe-accustomed body -- they are dirt roads with potholes that are more like craters that get deeper during the dry season. Do not attempt them without an SUV! But also do not be afraid to drive there -- it is do-able, just very adventurous! You will get used to constant dust covering everything, even you, when you are driving. And be aware that people drive to avoid the craters, not to stay on their side of the road. And you will share the road with entire families piled onto one bicycle or moped or quad. And dogs lie in the road, I suppose to cool off. And you will have to drive through rivers, too. :) So be alert, be adventurous, and enjoy!
This place is an affordable gem with stunning views and sounds and extraordinary owners. You will marvel at the all-encompassing tranquility!
My husband and I stayed at this beautiful property for one week in April during the dry season and it was truly not long enough. While the roads leading to Nosara are rough and challenging, they have kept the small towns of Nosara and Guiones tucked away and undeveloped. It truly is an escape away from it all. The house was well-equipped, well-maintained, and offered at a very reasonable price. The wildlife (Howler monkeys, coatimundi, array of birds, and more), sunsets, and views of the Nosara and Montana Rivers as they join the Pacific Ocean were beyond spectacular. We loved relaxing around the beautiful, warm infinity pool. The beaches are gorgeous and we enjoyed visiting Nosara, Peleda, Garza, Guiones, and Samara. Peleda and Guiones do not have much shade but there are palm trees on the others. There's a small bike shop in Guiones that rents beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers. We highly recommend hiking the trails at the entrance to the Biological Reserve, which is very close to the house near the Nosara River and the trails right near the house that lead down to Playa Peleda. We found a wide array of pretty shells and huge sand dollars hiking down Nosara Beach at low tide. We took surfing lessons on Guiones, which was perfect for beginners at low tide. We enjoyed eating breakfasts at Cafe Paris in Guiones, the local tico-style food at Rancho Tico, and dinner at La Luna (get the Greek humus appetizer - yummy!). While Carl and Cathy were not at the house during our stay, we felt comfortable with Alex and Alejandro, who checked in on us and were there if we needed anything. Don't forget to feed their family of goats across the street. We highly recommend the house!
The road to Nosara is challenging to say the least, and the closer you get to the water the bigger the potholes seem to get. But you'll forget all that when you step in Casa Vista Tranquila. Believe it or not, these pictures do not do it justice. The views are that great. You're up on a hill so there's always a breeze, and it's only a short walk to your choice of a black- or white-sand beach. Carl and Cathy couldn't be more accommodating; they're there if you need them but they never intrude on your privacy. Can't recommend this place highly enough. we'll be back!
My wife and I stayed for 2 weeks, had the most perfect relaxing time, and could have stayed longer! This was our second stay at this house. Our first was during the rainy season 2 years ago, which was just as perfect as this visit as the rain did not interfere with our outdoor activities and actually gave us some nice nap time on some afternoons. Carl and Cathy are two of the nicest people we have ever met. All of our questions were answered from directions, rental car, where to eat, shop, things to do, etc.. It was really nice to have horseback riding, hiking (jungle-ask about the monkey trail, and beach), Kayaking, fishing, paddle boards and more so close. The house, pool, activities and location are just plain fun! The house and pool were excellent and were really appreciated after daily activities, along with being so nice to just take days to relax there. The house and pool were very high quality, along with great a/c (although rarely needed) and internet. The view is like a picture from a travel magazine and the birds and monkeys you can see from the pool are great! We would recommend this house for both repeat visitors to Costa Rica and anyone visiting the country for the first time looking for a nice quality house with people who are very helpful, and can answer any questions you might have, so you can have a great relaxing time.
Carl and Cathy were amazing hosts!! Carl even came to pick us up from the airport and gave us a tour of Nosara.
Their property is beautiful...the pictures do not do it justice. We booked their one bedroom for our honeymoon and only regret that we didn't make our stay longer. It is peaceful, almost like you're on the edge of the world. There is A/C and internet! We have recommended Carl and Cathy to anyone looking for a fun and intimate getaway with their significant other; they answered all of our questions and helped make our stay so wonderful.
PS eat at Rancho Tico. AMAZING food.
If you love nature and tranquility, this is the place. It's one of those special places on earth that comes together and creates MAGIC. Like someone said, it's much better than the pictures.
Our visit here was a highlight after staying a week in Playa Guiones. You can sit and watch pelicans feeding, sunsets, surfers, fishermen tides ebb and flow. A very unique setting at the convergence of two rivers and at the mouth of one of the few beaches in the world where sea turtles lay their eggs. (A seasonal event which unfortunately we missed.)
We were fortunate to meet the delightful owner Carl. He was very helpful and cared very much that we have a good visit. He turned us on to the River Safari trip with Leroy which was was so rewarding, especially if you have an interest in birds. Leroy, the leader, is very knowledgeable.
You will want transportation options. We rented a Quad close by and it was a fun way to get around and do local touring.
Walk to 3 different beaches, surfing, turtle egg laying in the refuge, horse tour, kayak tour, stand up paddleboarding, guided river tour, and fishing. Also walk to a selection of restaurants. Short drive to zip line, spa services, waterfall and many other adventures!
