Great house in great location.

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for us. We watched the 4th of July fireworks in the bay from the great picture window. Another plus was how close downtown Coupville is. Totally walkable. Major plus. The bed was very comfortable. Just a very lovely fun home to stay in. I would suggest perfect for a couple and maybe one more adult or child. The owner's very quickly responded to any questions or requests we had. Will definitely stay there again.

Historic, charming & cozy

  • 4 of 5

The views from the living room windows are fantastic. Certainly enjoyed watching the deers and fawns wander around the yard, pick apples and then cross the street. One buck even took a nap under a tree by the house.

The house has lots of charm and is just relaxing to stay there. It was so easy to walk everywhere from this location.

One recommendation is to have LED bulbs. Room are too dark at night to read or work on a project. We went out and bought 2 so we could do things in the eve. Kitchen needs better lighting, too. Did not do 5 stars because of the lighting. Some ceiling bulbs were also burned out.

Would highly recommend this home to anyone.

An excellent view

  • 5 of 5

Our trip to Coupeville for Thanksgiving was a grand experience. It was calm and peaceful and the views of the water and across the cove were a great opportunity to shed the stress of the work week. The decor is excellent and well-suited to a house of this period. There were deer in the yard a couple f mornings. And we loved that we could bring our chihuahuas without any trouble. Our kind hosts were just up the street if we needed anything and keep the property in excellent condition. Definitely planning on a return trip.

Comforts of home and close to all the best Coupeville has to offer.

  • 4 of 5

This was a beautiful home in which to stay for our ten days on Whidbey Island. We had all the comforts of home--full kitchen, bedrooms with lots of pillows and blankets, appliances, TV--and the space is beautifully decorated, with lots of books and games to entertain. We enjoyed being so close to Coupeville's amenities. The kitchen was well-stocked for the most part, and we were able to cook full meals. However, when we didn't feel like cooking, we were within walking distance to Coupeville's best restaurants. The home is comfortable, and the forced air heating was a blessing during our very icy winter stay.

Once we were on the island Molly and Derek were easy to contact and were able to answer all our questions and requests. We were quite happy about the whole experience and would definitely stay at this accommodation again! We highly recommend it. However, it would be even better if they:

1) Ensured a more thorough cleaning (including behind the beds, with both beds made prior to arrival and towels/face cloths laid out in a logical place for all guests--we could find only one face cloth; the rest were hiding in the kitchen), and a restocking of essentials, such as dish soap, etc. for longer stays.

2) Provided a booklet/brochure that explains operation of appliances, TV, heating, etc., with passcodes and information on recycling/garbage removal.

3) Informed tenants that extended family sometimes uses the property to walk their dog, and warned us on arrival about the numerous metal hangers/rods sticking out of the grass (we nearly tripped while walking our dog in the dark after a late arrival).

Disappointing

  • 1 of 5

The rental was not cleaned properly and had rat feces in the cabinets and drawers as well as floor areas. The owner sent an exterminator and maid on our second day to clean up. It is too bad that the property is not being maintained properly.

Owner's Response: This statement is not accurate. An incident occurred and was dealt with immediately - same evening. We're sorry these folks were disappointed. We value our customer's experiences. Our 100yr old home downtown Coupeville is in a fantastic location and is very charming. Numerous guests have stayed since and are very pleased.
