We arrived on Xmas eve and were very happy with the property. The home is well set up for a family of four with two single beds upstairs and a queen on the main floor. Cozy, clean home in very good condition and close to town. Easy walk to town even on a cold and windy night, like 5-8 minutes. Georgetown has a cute main street with various shops and restaurants. Kind of a sleepy town, which was just fine or us. After a long day of skiing we just needed a nice quiet place to relax and this home was perfect. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need. Washer and dryer on site, although we only used the dryer for wet ski clothes during our stay. Did not use the wood burning fireplace. Plenty of towels and everything you would need in terms of toiletries for the bathroom. House is about an hour from Denver airport so easily accessible. Tip, look at renting a car somewhere other than the airport. We took an Uber to an Aurora, CO Enterprise location and saved about $700 on a 5 day rental. They really jack up the prices during peak times at the airport.
We went skiing at Loveland Ski Resort for 3 days which is about a 25-30 minute drive from the house. Loveland is awesome and easily the most affordable place to ski I have ever been. I have been to about 12 different ski resorts and the skiing at Loveland is as good as any of them. When you factor in the price and short/ non-existent lift lines there is really no comparison. Loveland is for skiers only, no lodging on site and really not much else to do at the mountain, which was fine for us. We bought 3 of the 4 pack lift tickets which brings your daily lift ticket price down to about $35 each. If someone knows of a better, or even comparable deal, I would love to know about it. You do have to buy the 4 packs by late November, so plan ahead. You can use them any time without restrictions.
My only complaint, and I hate to even bring it up, is the tree (palm tree of some sort???) growing in the corner of the kitchen. It is huge and is taking over a good portion of the area we used to take off our gear after skiing. Without the tree, a nice eat in dining area would be available. I hate to bring it up because it probably has been in the owner's family for a long time and it would actually be pretty cool in a larger space.
Overall we had a great time in CO and this house was a perfect fit for us. The owner was easy to work with and I would definitely stay here again.
My wife and I along with our two small children (1yr & 3yrs) rented this awesome house for a last minute ski vacation in March/2016. Judith was extremely friendly and responsive to our many inquiries. The house was exactly as described and couldn’t have been more perfect for our needs. It was fully stocked with all the required household items any family would need including kitchen, bathroom, Wi-Fi, DirecTV, laundry and bedding. We did have an issue with the bathroom plumbing one morning but a quick text to Judith and she had a maintenance guy make the repairs before we were back later that afternoon.
The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet right at the base of a mountain or really big rocky hill at least, even has deer roaming the streets on several occasions which our kids loved! The town couldn’t have been more perfect. There was a ski rental store in town that served us wonderfully, a library for the kids and for our printing needs and I can’t speak enough praise to the Shell station (yes… “Shell” station) that supplied our breakfast and lunch needs every day. They have a lady in the back that makes a long list of homemade goodies daily. Every morning we would stop in and get several breakfast burritos, coffee (bad ass coffee at that!) pastries and lunch items to feed a family of 4 to bring to the ski resort for later. I can tell you that I was unable to spend more than $16.00 on all of these items when it cost $13.00 at the resort for one coffee and one mango juice. I can’t stress enough how great this shell station is and if you don’t try them then you’re certainly missing out!
I highly recommend this property and our family will definitely be calling Judith for our next Colorado ski trip!
The house worked out perfect for a place to stay while skiing. There was only 2 of us but the home has plenty of room for a family of 4. The house is close to Loveland as well as other mountains in the area. The home is very comfortable and has all the amenities including WIFI and DirectTV. The owner is very responsive and easy to work with.
We have made this a wonderful place to call an annual retreat! It is a most cozy, comfortable and positive vibe-filled bungalow! This gem is so conveniently located to the charming, historic downtown Georgetown, numerous ski areas (we love Loveland Pass) and great dining options (just blocks away). For dining in, however, the kitchen is so nicely appointed. We have created some delicious meals and retreated to the living room by the fireplace to play cards and have fun conversations. There are so many nice things about this place! I can't wait to go back!!!
When our family arrived to this home for the 4th of July weekend we were shocked to see that the property had not been cleaned. Not at all. The sheets were dirty, the kitchen was a complete mess, bathrooms were gross. The whole place was all very gross as you can imagine. We contacted the owner immediately and she promised to get someone over to clean ASAP. That never happened so we had no choice but to try to clean it ourselves as we were prepaid for several nights. The sheets were especially bad. We thought we would simply take off the dirty sheets and put on the clean sets but the clean ones were very stained so we had to launder the dirty sheets and use those.
There were other problems as well. The very old and dirty outdoor grill was being held up on one side by a rock. It was very unsafe. And there were exposed nails and missing pieces on the broken railing. Also, near the grill there were unsafe old rusted tools hanging within reach of children near an open broken door leading to the crawl space. We took pictures of all this and attempted to relay these repairs needs to the owner but she seemed uninterested in our concerns. We also found that the the Direct TV service that she advertised on the VRBO listing had been disconnected. We texted to ask about that and she replied ""Surprised you're wanting to watch TV." Yes, Georgetown has some fun activities but we also planned some downtime as well. She made no apologies for misrepresenting that TV was available.
The owner finally agreed to give us a partial refund due to the home being so dirty upon our arrival. However, many weeks later she insisted that she had mailed us a check but of course it never arrived and then she stopped communicating with us.
If you stay in Georgetown we strongly recommend that you choose a different house. Georgetown is a beautiful little historic town and there is a lot to do for families. But you don't want to be cleaning up someone else's mess when you expected to arrive to a clean, well cared for home. Our family has stayed in Georgetown many times and all previous stays have been positive experiences. Past owners have been very easy to deal with and made sure their home was clean and well cared for. This owner didn't seem to care that a family arrived expecting a fun, relaxing 4th of July vacation and were instead met with to a very dirty rental home in need of repairs.
Five restful nights and four leisurely but varied days in this rustic but immaculate bungalow with every modern convenience was a highly restorative experience. The sunken patio with functioning outdoor cooker provided a wind-free setting for outdoor sunning; The large fenced-in yard was a delight for our Scotty. The kitchen is perfect for breakfasts and quick snacks or full dinners. A sun-filled dining room is set up for four but will accommodate eight. A large lounge with fireplace is ideal for music, TV, reading, and conversation. A short four block walk on mostly level surface leads to historic downtown with its shops, restaurants, and Anderson's 1800's grocery store. And a short walk to the n;orth of Biddle Street leads to Georgetown's beautiful Victorian park--an ideal playground for young children. Parking safe. On second morning we awoke to a Currier&Ives winter snow scene and found Biddle Street had already been plowed by the city. Owner most pleasant and helpful in providing info for dining, grocery shopping, and enjoying Georgetown..
