About Marilyn Blackburn

I live 25 minutes away and have had so much fun fixing up this cabin and making a pleasant retreat for people! I hope you come and spend a couple days taking in all that Granite Falls and Canyon Falls Cabin have to offer! You will never forget it!

Marilyn Blackburn purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Marilyn Blackburn chose Jordan Road-Canyon Creek

Granite Falls is 30 minutes from the big city and yet a world away! One stop light, and the gateway to year round enjoyment, so I knew when I saw this cabin that it was the perfect cabin, on the perfect spot above the river, in the perfect town!

What makes this cabin unique

I love this cabin for several reasons...the most obvious is when you look out the window, the river is rushing right past! It looks and sounds beautiful. The cabin was built in 2000 so it has all the features I want in terms of conveniences, but the setting in the forest invokes the rustic, outdoors feeling that I want.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

Came out with some friends for a long weekend birthday getaway and couldn't be happier with our experience! The cabin is gorgeous, both open and cozy, and the views of the forest and river so peaceful. We spent most of the time just relaxing, but did check out Granite Falls which is less than a 10 minute drive away!

Cozy, & well appointed, without being pretentious. A perfect hideaway.

This is a cute little place. It has a nice river view, although river access from the property is inadvisable, and downright treacherous as the river can rise several feet with just a little bit of rain. The sounds and view are worth the price of admittance. Good quality linens, comfortable bed, an adorable, mosaic, bistro patio set and several other little indoor and outdoor sitting nooks, an outdoor fire pit and a charcoal grill and we were in our element, totally comfortable. Had it been much nicer, I would've considered it too fancy, and we would've spent our entire vacation worried that we would break something.

A big plus for us is that the accommodations are Dog friendly. With a jetted tub inside and a real hot tub/jaccuzzi on the deck, we were able to dodge the responsibilities of our day to day lives for a little while. The Kitchen was well appointed. Pretty much the only thing the kitchen lacked was a coffee grinder. There was even an air popcorn popper, so you could have popcorn while you watched one of 3 dozen or so, DVD's on hand or read one of the classic novels from the bookshelf.

We did encounter a brief power outage while we were there, but that just added to the adventure. One of the neighbors is employed by the owner and popped by to make certain everything was okay with us, which I thought was a nice touch. (She pointed out that there were oil lamps and flashlights and even offered to build a fire in the wood stove for us, just in case we weren't well versed in wood stove operation.)

Marilyn, (the owner,) was very good about answering my questions promptly, via email and we wouldn't hesitate to book this or another one of her properties in the future. I'm already scheming when we can return... I think I want to go see ghost town of Monte Cristo....

Nice and quiet. No cable for those who wanted to watch the football game but found an awesome bar in Arlington that allowed dogs so all was good!

Peaceful quiet place with everything you need

Wonderful cabin, surrounded by woods and overlooking Canyon Creek. You can sit on the deck and listen to the sound of running water - very special! Everything needed is provided, and an added bonus is the hot tub on the deck. Totally relaxing!

Lovely Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is just far enough from the hussle and bustle of bigger cities that you can enjoy the nature. The bed was comfortable but very squeaky. The hot tub was a nice place to relax. Be prepared for gravel roads to get to the cabin (your car will get extremely dirty). The DVD collection is interesting, a little random, but you'll probably be able to find something to watch if you desire. The wifi works fine, but I had no cell reception (there is a landline at the cabin). Enjoy the drives in the area with your windows rolled down.

For those interested in how close you are to other amenities in the area... you have a couple Starbucks locations about 30min away, and shopping areas (like Seattle Premium Outlets) and other basic grocery shopping options, as well as more options for food. Seattle is about 1.5 hrs away with traffic.

The cabin does have a washer and dryer if needed, however I'd suggest bringing your own laundry detergent. I had a major allergic reaction to the laundry detergent that was at the cabin (something that has never happened before).

The Ice Caves hike was nice, it's not too challenging. It's really beautiful, if you had to choose just one hike this would be my recommendation.

Overall, we had a lovely time. I would definitely stay here again.
