Marilyn Blackburn purchased this cabin in 2011
Granite Falls is 30 minutes from the big city and yet a world away! One stop light, and the gateway to year round enjoyment, so I knew when I saw this cabin that it was the perfect cabin, on the perfect spot above the river, in the perfect town!
I love this cabin for several reasons...the most obvious is when you look out the window, the river is rushing right past! It looks and sounds beautiful. The cabin was built in 2000 so it has all the features I want in terms of conveniences, but the setting in the forest invokes the rustic, outdoors feeling that I want.
This was a great weekend get away. It was not too far from Seattle, and was a short drive to the forest (the hiking was amazing), and not too far from the local grocery store for quick supply run. Nice kitchen, the wood stove can really heat the place up, and the hot tub over the river and under trees was Great. Inside was totally quiet, outside you hear the river. Only thing I would change is the bed, it was a bit too plush for my tastes, you really sunk into the middle. We are already planning on coming back!
My boyfriend and I are so glad we rented this cabin!! The views of the river and falls were spectacular! It had everything we needed, and was very homey! We were so relaxed and comfortable. The upstairs bed was almost too soft, and VERY squeaky! Lol! We went on a hike to see the ghost town Monte Cristo, very cool, but definitely a long hike! We will definitely be interested in staying again in the future!
A lovely place to stay in a stunning setting. Wonderful, well-stocked kitchen with a view and tall counter with stools. Nice outdoor eating area. The hot tub was terrific after a day hiking in the North Cascades, which is easily accessible by back roads. Plenty of wood for the wood stove. Wonderful jacuzzi tub in the bathroom and nice to have two sinks and a shower.
Only suggestions: much smaller dresser in downstairs bedroom so you could have a reading lamp. And some directions of how to work the heating system.
Thank you. Would stay here again! Margaret
We arrived at the cabin to a dishwasher of dirty dishes and dirty towels in the washer. After 2 days our clothes smelled of cigarett smoke. Access to the creek is impossible and dangerous. I do not recommend this cabin.
Honestly - I wish I could rate a 4.5. Others have mentioned it so maybe this is unfair but the only thing that keeps this rating from being a 5 is the bed. Unless it has some emotional value for the owners I really would recommend spending a little bit to replace the very squeaky frame.
We enjoyed the view and area. The house was set up perfectly for our needs. I enjoyed building fires in the wood stove. The kitchen was great and had all the utensils we needed. We ate a meal at the Barbecue Bucket - recommend it.
I loved this cabin the moment I walked in. It's very lovely, and comfortable. I want to go back, but am thinking the weather in this area is not the best?
In any case, it's a great place to be, even in the pouring rain. Hot tub is really only a two person one, but is fine. The Jacuzzi bath is a nice luxury!
Maybe only one slight negative is the stairs to the upstairs loft and bedroom. They are bare wood and a bit slippery. A runner would solve that problem easily. Otherwise, I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a special getaway.
