Sonoma County House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Retro Retreat: Cozy, Moderne, Affordable House in Wine Country.

3 bdrm, 2.5 bath for the price of 2 bdrm 1 bath rental!! We are offer low prices. We would rather book more nights at low rates than fewer nights at higher rates.

The Retro Retreat is a fabulous little house built in 1951 and recently updated for comfort and convenience with central heat and A/C. It is centrally located in a very quiet neighborhood just north of the town of Sonoma, with easy access to highway 12. We have an updated kitchen with new cabinets, appliances and granite counter tops.

The main living room, kitchen and dining area is open, providing an extra large space for entertaining and relaxing with family and friends. A great space for celebrating holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, or just long weekends! One entire wall of the living room, dinning and kitchen area is glass, looking out on a covered patio and large back yard. The floor plan is ideal for two couples or a family. Two bedrooms, a full and half bath are in one wing of the house, another bedroom and full bath are in the other. The living room, dining area and kitchen are in the center of the house, providing complete privacy between the two wings.

The Retro Retreat is just minutes from the Sonoma Plaza (2.4 miles) for shopping and dining experiences, and within walking distance of the world famous Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. In just a few minutes, heading North on highway 12, you will visit dozens of the best wineries California has to offer.

If you want to stay in after a day of wine tasting, dinner is a snap with provisions from Whole Foods or Sonoma Market. In addition to the new kitchen, there is a BBQ, dining table, chairs and lounge seating on the covered patio. Plus, staying at the Retro Retreat is a great way to save your $$, so you can splurge all that much more on Sonoma’s fine wines and dinning.

When you book with us, let us know if you like red or white, so we can greet you with a bottle of one of our favorite Sonoma wines.

About Josette and David Eichar

Josette and Dave have lived in the Sonoma Valley for 12 years. While living in San Francisco, we often spent long weekends in the Sonoma Wine Country, so we decided to move here to enjoy the warm sun and the outdoors, away from the city traffic and noise.

Surprise gem

  • 5 of 5

The "Retro Retreat" was perfect for our needs. Comfortable stay for six friendly adults. The home is clean, cool (during one of the hottest weeks in Sonoma), the decor is well thought out, and the furnishings are everything you need. I felt a little nervous when we first pulled into the neighborhood but the location turned out to be quiet and very convenient for our jaunts into town and multiple wineries in all directions. Whole Foods and Safeway nearby. Plenty of room to park our two cars. The backyard is especially lovely with lots of outdoor seating. The owners are quite thoughtful. Overall, I would say it is a surprising hidden gem.

Comfortable Retro Retreat

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Retro Retreat. The house is in an excellent location for traveling to many areas in Sonoma County. We drove as far as Point Reyes Lighthouse, which was a most interesting and scenic experience. The beds were comfortable. The living area is very open with plenty of light due to a wonderful wall of windows looking out at a huge patio and backyard area. The kitchen is open and large enough to easily move about. There are many dishes and 2 sets of eating utensils. A larger selection of herbs/spices would be nice. The neighborhood was very quiet and friendly. It was clean and well represented as described in the initial write-up. The owners provided all the information we needed. We especially liked downtown Sonoma and the Old Historic Mission, as well as Jack London Historic State Park. La Casa Mexican Restaurant, across from the Old Mission, was excellent as was the Italian Restaurant, Café Citti, near Kenwood. The only thing that would have made it better for our group would be twin beds (or bunk beds) in one of the bedrooms rather than queen sized beds in each bedroom. The small sofa is not suitable for using to sleep upon and the fold out sleeping mattress is a bit narrow for an adult to sleep comfortably. All four of us ladies agreed we would recommend the house to friends. It is a basic house with everything a person needs to live comfortably for a visit to the delightful Sonoma area. Very affordable compared to other homes we considered.

This was my first time using HomeAway, this was a great experience. The house was exactly as described. The house is really centrally located with local restaurants and shopping. Josette and David were very responsive and accommodating. We had a great time and would highly recommend this property.

Hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

This little gem is hidden away in a quiet neighborhood and will really surprise you when you open the door. The house has been opened up to create an open concept, has 2.5 bathrooms, three bedrooms and a nice shaded backyard ideal for croquet or relaxing on the patio. All the amenities were provided - even a bottle of wine! We were very satisfied with the home. The only downside was a shortage of parking but the street is quiet and allowed us to park right in front of the house. Five adults were very comfortable and would be happy to stay there again.

Wine lovers

  • 4 of 5

I traveled here with my daughter, brother-in-law and his wife to do Sonoma and Napa wine country. Your house was very well equipped with all essential needs coffee, spices and etc. We loved the view of your patio and enjoyed the mornings drinking coffee on it The short walks to nearby market and coffee place was fun. Thank for making our stay extremely comfortable.
