About The Owner

Becky is an engineer and Mike a former banker. We have a marine canvas business in the summer. We travel with our mini-dachshunds and understand how important having a safe place to keep them.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2006

Why The Owner chose Northern Michigan

Becky grew up on Green Lake just a couple cottages south of this home. Her family has been here for 4 generations. We can't imagine a nicer place to spend the summer.

What makes this cottage unique

Private waterfront access with dock and deck.

The cottage was perfect for our vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This charming summer cottage provided us with a beautiful view of Green lake. The cottage was clean and well equipped for us to move right in for the week. We visited in early June and were blessed with beautiful weather .The bonus for this cottage is the pontoon boat that is provided! We spent many hours everyday fishing.... And had very good luck!!! The area was very peaceful and quiet. Lots of good places to eat nearby! We hope to return here again next year😀?

Great cottage, great location, just two miles of Interlochen Center for the Arts :)

Loved the cottage - very cozy:)

I loved having coffee and watch the humming birds and look out on the lake:)

Our adult kids were in the boathouse and had a blast! They took the boat out and had bonfires at night! Couldn't have asked for a better place!

Thank you!

Cozy cottage

  • 3 of 5

Perfect for a couple, only 1 bathroom & rustic charm with cement floors & stone fireplace & open wood ceilings thru out. Wished windows would of been fixed & fully operating so u could enjoy summer breeze off the lake & get airflow thru cottage. But the fire pit & top of boathouse were great to sit outside around & enjoy meals. Pontoon wasn't working when got in & was waiting on parts., kept cutting out. Beautiful lake.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. Input from our guests is very important to us. We strive to have our guests have a great vacation and experience. Since we began renting our cottage 5 years ago, this year was the first that we had any reviews(including yours) that had any complaints, issues. We had a new management team this past summer responsible for cleaning, maintenance for the property. They did not perform their duties as expected. We have addressed the concerns and have replaced the team.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This is a hidden gem in a great setting. The cottage is small but has everything you need and you will be out on the lake or sitting on the deck overlooking the lake every waking hour. The boathouse is perfect if you teenagers, or visitors for a few days. It is like having a guest cottage for them. Not only do you get to use the pontoon boat (which rent for $125/hour) but there are kayaks as well. The wildlife watching is great. Bald eagles, grebes, ducks, geese. We would take a bike ride every morning to the isthmus that divides the two arms of the lake. We would stop and talk to the locals about the history of the area, the music camp, etc. Excellent Wifi and cable so you can stay as attached to the world as you want. One of the best fishing spots on the lake is straight out from the cottage. This will be our third year in a row renting, which I guess is the best recommendation of all. Mike and Becky are very laid back and helpful.

Disappointing

  • 1 of 5

I will start by saying I should have done more research and asked more questions.

This place is very small. It is 4 concrete walls and a concrete floor. No privacy in bedroom. The door doesn't shut and there is no ceiling. You can barely get around the bed.

The kitchen is very small and all the dishes were dirty and grimy. Anything we used we needed to wash first. The first morning we woke up, there were mouse droppings on the counter. During the rest of the week we found additional droppings on the counter and in the cupboards. We always made sure there was nothing sitting out and there were absolutely no crumbs anywhere.

When I made the owner aware of the situation, they wrote it off and said that happens and there is nothing they can do except put a couple traps down. In my job, I work with animals and mice don't bother me, but they do not belong in the kitchen. Very unsanitary.

We stayed away as much as possible.

Needless to say, we were very disappointed. We have rented other places in the area and have never run into this problem.

We didn't rent the cottage because of the pontoon. However, there were also problems with that.

Owner's Response: I'm also disappointed you had some issues with the rental. I appreciate you letting us know of issues so that we can correct them for future renters. It's utmost important to us that the cottage is well kept and clean and that our renters have a great time. We eliminated the mouse issue and have instructed our cleaning staff to make sure to double check the shelves and dishes to make sure this doesn't happen again. I can assure renters we are determined to make sure that the cottage is clean and in good condition so that you enjoy your vacation. It is an older lake cottage but that's part of it's charm that most renters enjoy.

Just What We Needed!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was perfect for our Michigan getaway. The patio area on top of the boat house was our favorite spot - perfect for breakfast coffee, dinners, sunsets and staring at peaceful Green Lake.

The kitchen was very well stocked - many excellent, quality items that made cooking easy.

We had several beautiful sunsets, each unique and dramatic. While we had earlier made plans to go to Traverse City, but opted instead for a trip to Frankfort which was good for a change of pace.

Thoroughly enjoyed using the pontoon boat. It really enhanced being at the lake that we could be on it, too.

Trying to plan when we can return to Green Lake, hopeful when Interlochen has concerts.
