Overview

Palm Springs House Rental Photos and Description

Historic Home, 2 Bedrooms + Sunroom ( Sleeps 1-2), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6 Total)

This Architecturally significant home was the first collaboration between architects Albert Frey and Robson Chambers for Chambers' personal residence. The initial structure was built in 1947 and was later added on by Chambers. Perfectly sited, the home takes full advantage of the spectacular views of the San Jacinto mountains. Floor to ceiling glass seamlessly combines the interior space with the outdoor living areas unifying the space of one, large open entertainment venue. Photographed by Julius Shulman and featured in Mademoiselle Home 1950 and Architectural Record 1952. This property is a unique mid-century modernist home. It has gone through historic renovation and was refurbished by internationally published, interior designer, Sam Cardella. The renovation brought it back to its original design without compromise to its integrity. This property features two bedrooms, plus a sun room with a full size foldout, a formal dining room and living room with 2 seating areas. This property is an incredible example of Frey and Chambers work. Special attention has been taken with the interior design and amenities to fit with the bones of the structure. Luxury linens, plush towels and a fully stocked kitchen make this ideal for the discerning traveler with an appreciation of architecture, style and design. The central location of this magnificent property puts it within minutes of the area’s many cultural, dining, entertainment, sports, hiking, biking, theater, downtown and shopping areas and clearly makes this home ideal for vacationing in Palm Springs. It is being offered on a limited basis for the discerning traveler that shares a passion and appreciation for architecture, history and style. This property is only being made available for 15 weeks out of the year.

Fabulous Stay In Palm Springs

  • 5 of 5

What a treat to stay in such an iconic representation of mid-century design! During my research for our trip to Palm Springs this property stood out from all others and we were not disappointed! It is beautifully appointed with wonderful design pieces of the time period co-mingled with more current art and design. Nothing fussy or precious.

I enjoyed the information provided about the history of the house and to be able to see that's it's retained much of it's original design intent is something I find refreshing. It's a place I could move into and call my home away from home. I love this house!

The owner and manager were extremely responsive and helpful. I'd certainly stay there again!

Fun Mid-Century Modern Experience

  • 4 of 5

So fun to stay in the home of a mid century modern architect. Convenient to central Palm Springs but in a quiet neighborhood. Lovely mountain view and sparkling pool. Only negative would be the tiny kitchen but that's true to the era. Would certainly stay here again.

Beautiful Property, Clean and Well-Maintained

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent a glorious two nights at the Frey/Chambers house enjoying the wonderfully designed house and its luxurious pool. The amenities were excellent and the house was spotless and perfectly well-maintained. The management was very accommodating of our special requests. We'll be back!

Fantastic slice of Palm Springs history

  • 5 of 5

We hated to leave. The house is such a delight with its brilliant layout and views. Very comfortably furnished in a way that preserved the midcentury feel. Amply outfitted kitchen makes it easy to cook there should you choose. A really special place that we hope to return to soon.

Loved everything

  • 5 of 5

The property was beautiful and it was really fun to stay in a restored mid-century modern house. We were there as a couple with no kids, and couldn't have been happier. Both the owner and property manager were very friendly and responsive.

Great vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Ditto everything already said. We were there with our teenage daughters who just wanted sun. This home was perfect. Very private and well maintained pool. Great art and books throughout. Ideal location. Besides being near town and hiking trails, it is so close to the airport-- 5 minutes. Perfect for a long weekend. Manager and owner are very accommodating.

Notes:
In addition to the architectural and historical importance of this property, a good deal of thought has been paid to the interior design. This is apparent throughout the property with furnishings by Herman Miller, Knoll, Donghia, B&B Italia and others. Window coverings and wall and floor treatments are consistent with the thought that has been taken to create a comfortably relaxed and luxurious setting. Linens and towels are exceptional in thread count and plushness.
