About the property

Historic Home, 2 Bedrooms (Sleeps 4-6 Total) + Sunroom ( Sleeps 1-2) + 2 Baths

This Architecturally significant home was the first collaboration between architects Albert Frey and Robson Chambers for Chambers' personal residence. The initial structure was built in 1947 and was later added on by Chambers. Perfectly sited, the home takes full advantage of the spectacular views of the San Jacinto mountains. Floor to ceiling glass seamlessly combines the interior space with the outdoor living areas unifying the space of one, large open entertainment venue. Photographed by Julius Shulman and featured in Mademoiselle Home 1950 and Architectural Record 1952. This property is a unique mid-century modernist home. It has gone through historic renovation and was refurbished by internationally published, interior designer, Sam Cardella. The renovation brought it back to its original design without compromise to its integrity. This property features two bedrooms, plus a sun room with a full size foldout, a formal dining room and living room with 2 seating areas. This property is an incredible example of Frey and Chambers work. Special attention has been taken with the interior design and amenities to fit with the bones of the structure. Luxury linens, plush towels and a fully stocked kitchen make this ideal for the discerning traveler with an appreciation of architecture, style and design. The central location of this magnificent property puts it within minutes of the area’s many cultural, dining, entertainment, sports, hiking, biking, theater, downtown and shopping areas and clearly makes this home ideal for vacationing in Palm Springs. It is being offered on a limited basis for the discerning traveler that shares a passion and appreciation for architecture, history and style. This property is only being made available for 15 weeks out of the year.

Notes:
In addition to the architectural and historical importance of this property, a good deal of thought has been paid to the interior design. This is apparent throughout the property with furnishings by Herman Miller, Knoll, Donghia, B&B Italia and others. Window coverings and wall and floor treatments are consistent with the thought that has been taken to create a comfortably relaxed and luxurious setting. Linens and towels are exceptional in thread count and plushness.

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

My dear friend and I wanted a nice home with a private pool for a 3 night weekend away without the kids and this home was perfect! It is such a cool midcentury modern home with all the decor to go with it. The kitchen was great, with nice appliances. The manager who met us was super friendly and helpful. The only disappointing thing is the city of Palm Springs does not allow music to be played outside at private residences. However, it was fine- the silence was so relaxing! It's an easy 25 minute walk to the shops and restaurants. We felt like we were staying in a very nice boutique hotel with lots of space, all to ourselves. I'd highly recommend this home.

Mid Century Modern Classic

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable house centrally located in central Palm Springs. Well appointed and private grounds with amazing pool. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay. The history of the house is interesting as well if you're an MCM buff. The owner has put together a book with photos and all the history which was great. Would definitely re-rent again!

Great design and comfortable chic

  • 5 of 5

It's hard to add to previous superlative reviews. The property manager and owners are wonderfully helpful - you certainly don't always find that at every rental. The home and grounds and the high quality linens, dishware, appliances and furniture all add up to a feeling akin to the luxury life! The pool at night, with fire pit crackling and uplit towering palms is absolutely stunning. I cannot imagine even considering another property in the Springs. Loved it!!!

Sunny Palm Springs!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd time staying at the house. We love the privacy, the all-day sunshine (with various shady spots throughout the day too), the pool with mountain views, the ping pong table, and the beautifully appointed furnishings in the house. The bed is very comfy and we love the floor-to-ceiling windows that make you feel like you're practically outside all the time. Lots of space. Plus, the location is terrific - close to everything but very quiet. You really get into the mid-century Palm Springs vibe here!
