This home from the early 1900s has the atmosphere and genteel charm of a less crowded and less pressured era. Worries drop away as you sit on the wide wrap-around porch and enjoy the fresh sea air. Private yet accessible, it is a gem.
The Perry home is drop dead perfect for a family retreat! Phenomenal historic family home with adequate space and amenity to fully satisfy a most exacting family's needs to matter the age or size. The home is filled with history and we combed the books throughout the house. Amazing in its place of importance for Rhode Island's coastline history. The Perry's are delightful and accommodating as well! Fully appointed 5-6 bedroom with 3 baths, park like grounds, views of the pond and ocean beyond. Kayak from your boathouses over to your own private, pristine beach or just paddle over to the Weekapaug Inn for a cocktail, sailing lessons, or yacht tour! Quiet idyllic setting with complete privacy makes this a perfect place to unwind and replenish! Sincerely!
My family and I stayed at Periscope in June. We needed a place that could accommodate an extended family group. The house was perfect. There was ample space to afford everyone privacy. Our group totaled eight, but there was room for more. It worked well for the children, the youngest being three, as well as the seniors in our group. There are three full bathrooms-one with a bathtub and two with showers. We never ran out of hot water and the pressure was great.
The house is well appointed with plenty of linens and kitchen equipment. We cooked and served meals for all of us and friends who were staying near by. There is a large BBQ if you want to cook out. There is a washer and dryer and clothes line, so you can pack lighter when you travel.
The house and grounds are lovely. The plantings are amazing and a wide variety of birds visit the feeders outside the kitchen window. Th large wrap around porch has room to eat out, sit and relax, or for the children to play. From the porch you have a sweeping view down to the water. There is a dock and we spent a considerable time enjoying that setting. Inside you will countless books to read, a large library of DVD's, games and toys.
If you need granite and stainless steel or want a place to throw wild parties, this place isn't for you. If you want a tranquil setting for a perfect seaside vacation, Periscope is perfect. The photos give a very accurate view of the house.
Periscope is the kind of house you see in pictures and movies and wonder what it would be like to live there.
On the practical side, the owners are very easy to work with. A cleaning crew came and polished up while we were staying there. The beaches were close by, the pizza man delivers, and we could find anything we needed in town. This property is perfect for lazy days or as a base to enjoy the beaches and numerous attractions in the area.
