Newly constructed (2011) wooded log cabin retreat on the West Branch of the Ausable River.
This retreat has views of surrounding mountains.
Keywords: Cabin, Cottage on West Branch of Ausable River. Great fishing and hunting and only minutes from Whiteface Mountain.
We loved the cabin and the area.
~ 25 mins from Whiteface Mountain
~ 30 mins from Lake Placid town
Cabin is very clean and had everything you would need, such as a propane BBQ, firewood, satellite TV for the evenings, AC.
The hike down to the Ausable river wasn't too bad and the dogs enjoyed the water.
Feedback for the owner is that it is very easy to lock yourself out of the cabin if you leave the key inside and shut the door as it can be locked and you can still open the door from the inside so you don't remember the handle is in the locked position.
My wife and I stayed for three nights and four days. This is the place if you want privacy, we only seen two cars go by the entire time we were there. Woke up to a doe and two fawn's in the back yard our first morning, great views of near by mountains and the relaxing sound of the river close by. Its a little drive to lake Placid and other near by attractions but the drive is so beautiful and relaxing we didn't mind at all. Believe me its worth the drive to not be in a little shack beside the main road (lots of those all over). Nicely decorated to give it that cabin feel. Cabin lacked nothing as far as kitchen, linens and activities for those rainy days. Would like to mention that there is a fire pit and a Air conditioner that was not listed so that was a nice surprise. Access to the Ausable river from the cabin is pretty steep and I would not recommend for small children or the elderly but, with all the other places to see the river with easy access this should not be a reason to not pick this place. It is more of a studio style cabin so if you bringing kids or another couple don't expect night time privacy. For a couples retreat this is the perfect choice.
We loved our stay in this cute, comfortable, nicely equipped studio cabin. The property had great views of the river/mountains and lots of privacy. It was also perfectly located for our High Peaks hiking adventures.
I've stayed in previous cabins which were not so fully equipped. This cabin rental was amazing and exceeded all expectations. It smells like newly built construction. There were things you wouldn't expect like ketchup, mustard, boxes of mac n cheese, and kitchen had any possible thing you could dream of for appliances. Linens and towels were clean and bathroom was pristine. AC worked great and place stayed cool. Other things I noticed that were beyond cabin expectations: propane grill, 2 chairs on patio, lots of toilet paper, hair dryer, cable tv, a nintendo WII! The owner was friendly on phone and answered all questions timely. This was absolutely the best cabin stay I've rented on this site.
Excellent getaway in the woods, just enough seclusion and just enough access to other people if needed. Perfect for the two of us, along with our 2 small dogs. More of a studio cabin but on the newer side with gorgeous views of the mountains and river.
My boyfriend and I had a great time. The house was great with amazing views of the mountains. We were able to bring our dog which was a plus, he had a blast. The only thing bad is it was pretty far from everything but everything else was perfect. We will definitely be back!
