About Carmela Blackman

We live in the UK with our two daughters. We fell in love with Le Cottage from the moment we walked up the gated drive. After purchasing in 2003 it then took us a further 5 years to renovate including the addition of a pool which overlooks a magnificent view down a conservation valley of pine trees. We wanted to create somewhere really special to go, full of beautiful things. Each time we arrive we all still feel excited and have had some wonderful times with family and friends. We now have regular guests who revisit each year and they also feel like its their home from home.

Carmela Blackman purchased this villa in 2003

Why Carmela Blackman chose Cannes - Grasse - Antibes

We love the area with its diversity from historic towns, beautiful walled villages, mountains and having the sea close by. Also the way of life, food, wine and of course the sunshine. It has great access to the airport 15 mins, trains 10 mins, motorway 7 mins. Its close to Nice, Cannes, Antibes and only 40 mins to Monaco. It has great links to pretty much anywhere along the coast or inland. The area is so diverse being close to beaches, mountains, river walks and all amenities whether you want to play golf, tennis or visit one of the beautiful hill top villages like St Paul only a 5 minute drive away. There is so much to do and never enough time. Although it is close for accessibility it is tucked away for when you want to enjoy some relaxing time out with magnificent views.

What makes this villa unique

Le Cottage du Loup overlooks a conservation area and is on the edge of the beautiful historic village of La Colle Sur Loup. You have all you need in the village Bakery, butchers, Grocers, Cafes, restaurants, banks, chemist and an open market on Saturday mornings. Many of our guests intend on visiting so many places but say once they arrive they stock up on food and wine and spend most of their days by the pool, cooking alfresco on the range BBQ. Or go for a stroll down to the River Loup which is a lovely tree lined walk where you can also rock climb.

La Colle Sur Loup is a short 10 minute drive from St Paul de Vence which is one of the most visited and oldest medieval towns on the French Riviera and the second most visited in France, it is well known for its modern and contemporary art museums and galleries such as Fondation Maeght which is located nearby.

Saint-Paul de Vence has long been a haven of the famous. During the 1960s, it was frequented by French actors Yves Montand, Simone Signoret and Lino Ventura, and poet Jacques Prévert.

We have a wonderful team who look after our guests. Our House manager who speaks several languages including English is on hand should you need advice for restaurants or information on the local area. Our gardener, pool guy and house keeper keep everything ship shape. When you rent our property you will know that if anything unexpected goes wrong, our support team will be there to fix it as soon as possible. Please read some of our previous guest reviews.

A gem!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I recently spent two weeks at the villa and we were delighted with it. It is bright, immaculate and private. We were 6 adults and each couple had privacy as all three bedrooms are on separate floors. The kitchen was very well stocked and the bbq was literally steps away from the kitchen. The property and pool area were impeccable. Lastly, the location is ideal for sightseeing - just minutes from the A8 and 15 minutes from Nice Airport. The villa simply exceeded our expectations. Michele was so helpful and responded so quickly to our queries. Carmela - you made us feel so welcomed. We'll be back! Thank you!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review. All the team work really hard behind the scenes to make each and every guests stay feel special. We know how important holidays are to us all and how we look forward to them. We would be delighted to welcome you back such a lovely family. As you know there is just so much to see and do in the area whether that is a trip to one of the many lovely hilltop villages, the beach Monaco, Cannes Antibes all of which are not far. However I know many of our guests arrive and have many plans but end up stocking up on lovely local produce and while away the days by the pool relaxing. Until next time.....or as they say in France A Bientot x

Beautiful, well-equipped house in quiet and charming village

  • 5 of 5

We recently had our second visit to this beautiful house. The description and photographs accurately convey its character and charm. Its location is excellent - being just 20 minutes drive from Nice airport yet feeling like you are in the middle of the countryside once you are there. The house is on the edge of the village - quiet and private with spectacular views. It is only a 15-20 minute walk ( largely up hill on the way there) to the pretty town which has a good range of cafes, restaurants and shops ; and only 10-15 minute walk to a nice level riverside walk. There are lots of pretty villages and tourist attractions in the surrounding area. The house itself is beautifully decorated and comfortable and the gardens /pool area are spacious and welcoming. It is well-equipped throughout. The 3rd bedroom is in a self-contained area on the lower ground level. This served us really well as a 'granny flat' for our mother who accompanied us. Customer service from both the owner, on booking and from the staff in France is excellent. I would definitely recommend this property to others looking for a quiet relaxing holiday in a lovely location. We hope to return again.

the villa was beautiful and had everything that you would need the surroundings were really nice the only thing that i found was a propblem was it echoed at night because of all the marble floors etcra

Owner's Response: Its great to hear you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your review. We always appreciate any comments as we are constantly looking for ways to improve our guests stay whenever we can. As the villa is in the South of France with its mediterranean climate having marble floors throughout helps to keep it cool in Summer. Also when guests go into the villa with bare or wet feet from outside its easier to mop the floor keeping it nice and clean. The edition of rugs and carpets would not be suitable for this type of climate. If you have any suggestions please do let us know as it may be something we could implement for your next stay. We look forward to welcoming you and the family back we hope you have a great Summer.

Beautiful and Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

The Cottage is located in a beautiful green valley very close to the the village - which provides a few good restaurants and shops. The house and pool are very well maintained and the pictures on line are a fair representation of the property.

The house is beautifully decorated and a real 'home' from 'home'.

I would definitely recommend to friends!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We have a great team that look after our guests arrival and the villa. One of the things nearly all our guests love is the view from the pool terrace which looks over a conservation area its my favorite place to sit. If your lucky sometimes you can see an eagle gliding through the thermals. We look forward to welcoming you back next time
