About Valerie

Works for an International Wine Importer, French wine is the food of choice! Champagne is my first love, I love all things french! Raised in Texas, have lived in New York for over twenty years. Have travelled the worls, mostly for the wine industry over the sixteen years that it has been my career.

Am an avid and addicted byclist, yoga, swimmer, West Coast Dancer, some down-hill skiing, lazy gardner, but the property is beautiful because of that trat!

Very knowledgeable about wine and food.

Valerie purchased this chateau / country house in 2001

Why Valerie chose Hudson Valley

Hyde Park is known for its rural characteristics. Yet within minutes you are in large and medium size villages, towns and cities. Rhinebeck being the closest. This is a unique property in that it has beautiful trees for landscaping, yet has old world charm. The pond is beautiful. The property is half a mile from the Hudson River. Hyde Park has two boat launches and overnight boat docking. The house is circa 1900 and its exterior reminds you of the smaller chateaux in rural France. Which is why I lovingly call it Le Petit Chateau.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The pond is the most unique aspect of the property. The owner is extremely knowledgeable of fine dining, places to see and things to do. As I travel throughout this area to sell wine, I know of areas that most property owners have never seen nor heard of . Same thing applies to biking. I know areas to bike that most property owners do not know even exist. We have a Private Chef who can cater to your needs. The Private Chef Classes are extremely successful.

Wonderfully charming spot

  • 5 of 5

We spent time at Le Petit Chateau last year when it was a B&B. Although no longer a B&B, it is still a delightfully beautiful home in a gorgeous area. 5 minutes to the CIA (get take-out lunch there and return to your "home away" to enjoy a "picnic" by the peaceful pond), 10 minutes to the Walkway across the Hudson, and 30 minutes or less in any direction will bring you to all the historic sites in the area. We stayed in the Champagne room with its very comfortable bedding, nicely-designed bathroom, and plenty of room to relax and rest. It was nice to get up when we wanted to, prepare breakfast, go for a walk on the back roads in the area, and enjoy the peace and beauty of the property. Valerie provided great guidance on some places to see and was so helpful with our reserving the house. We were thrilled to be able to spend time at Le Petit Chateau again to celebrate our anniversary and savor time spent in this lovely house, all of its charm, and the beautiful location. Thank you so much for the opportunity to enjoy, relive old memories, and create new ones during our time in Hyde Park.

Wonderful group rental - spacious, charming!

  • 5 of 5

I hosted a girls weekend/bachelorette party here and it was wonderful! There was plenty of space for everyone to enjoy time together before we went to dinner in the dining area, late night huddled together in the living space and the next morning in the kitchen discussing our adventures. The rooms were charming and the property absolutely lovely. I would definitely recommend !!

Disappointment

  • 1 of 5

The house is a former bed and breakfast which is perfectly adequate, although a bit tired looking. The setting was very nice though, with a pretty pond several feet from the house. If the price were lower, we would have been more enthusiatic about the property. An additional disappointment was that the owner never returned our deposit without any explantion.

Owner's Response: We love being in the hospitality industry as one meets such interesting people! One of the best aspects about reserving our vacation rental is that we allow early check- in, any time after 11:00. One aspect of travel that we have found, is that new travelers are unfamiliar with policies and how important it is that they be followed. We try to accommodate many of our guests to a “later” check – out but when other guests are to arrive that same day --and the cleaning company can not be flexible --then late check-outs cost us a bundle of extra money. We tried to explain this to the guest but it simply wouldn’t be understood. He insisted that he stay through his check-out until 4:00 pm on the day of departure- without paying!. Our accountant sent him an email explaining that there would be a cost involved based on the length of his stay. We know of NO lodging facility that would allow a guest to stay until the check-in of a next guest without PAYING. This was explained several times and it was clear that the guest would have to pay for late departure. . And that is why the $200 deposit was not returned. Our circa 1900 farmhouse is OLD!! This seems to be lost on the younger generation so used to glass and chrome. The architect did a splendid job for our $250,00o renovation budget! And we preserved some of the OLD!! It’s history. Tired and old it AIN’T. It is a beautifully preserved house. So please be prepared to stay in a circa 1900 farmhouse that has been completely restored – just like advertised.

Just like home!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our two girls and it was just what we dreamed it would be!!

There's a pond and a big lawn to keep the little ones occupied, a full kitchen, big living areas and the beds are the best we've slept in ever!!!

Valerie was a great hostess, making sure we were all set up and gave us some great tips about the area for food and things to do!

We look forward to our next stay with Le Petit Chateau, we can't wait!!!

Perfect place for a perfect weekend

  • 5 of 5

We stayed, along with our closest friends, for our wedding weekend. Our wedding was at the nearby Innisfree Garden. The chateau is quaint, gorgeous and well-kept, as is the surrounding property. Valerie is a sweetheart and such a pleasure to deal with, happily accommodating to our schedule and requests.

Quite simply, it was the perfect place for our perfect weekend.

COZY RETREAT

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for a birthday weekend. The perfect spot for a romantic get away. Everything is supplied for a nice home away from home. Decor is beautiful and very clean. The pond is a great spot to have coffee in the morning or wine in the afternoon.
