Pono Kai Resort

The condo is within the beautiful Pono Kai Resort which is along the Coconut Coast of Kauai in Kapaa Town. Pono Kai is on 12 acres of manicured tropical grounds You know you have arrived in PARADISE when you walk through the resort and see the lush tropical plantings and the many tall coco palms. The resort features a large, beautiful swimming pool and spa, lighted tennis courts, and activities desk and a 24-hour front desk as well as the other amenities like a workout equipment room, croquet and shuffleboard courts, as well as other amenities that are listed below. Island restaurants and shopping are within walking distance of your beach vacation condo. Free parking is just outside your elevator equipped building.

Kapaa Town

The Pono Kai resort is in historic Kapaa Town on the east side of Kauai island. Located just eight miles from the Lihue airport, Kapaa is a laid back island community that is perfectly located as a base for your exploration of the island PARADISE that is Kauai. Kapaa has many restaurants and quaint island shops which are within easy walking distance of your beach vacation condo. The East Shore of Kauai enjoys better weather than the North Shore (Princeville) and is not as remote as the South Shore (Poipu). You'll love Kapaa's convenient, central location as your springboard to your own Kauai Island sightseeing adventure!

Beach Vacation Condo

The 1 bedroom/1 bath condo (A-305) is on the 3rd (top) floor of the building, just down the hall from the elevator. Being on the top floor affords more privacy and security, less noise and absolutely fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean and beach just outside the condo. Free parking is just outside the building. There is a queen size bed in the bedroom and a full size sofa-bed in the living room. The condo sleeps up to 4 (3 adults max). Tastefully decorated in an island nautical theme, the condo is very well maintained by it's mainland owner who visits 3-4 times a year. A remodeled, fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher, makes it easy for those guests who want to do their own cooking. 'The kitchen remodel included new cabinets, granite countertops and most appliances. Complimentary WiFi internet service is provided to my guests. The unit has a hotel type safe for the security of the guests valuables. While the condo is not air conditioned (typical for privately owned residences on Kauai) the ocean breezes and the overhead fans usually keep the condo comfortable both day and night all year round. You will love relaxing on the condo lanai (patio) with your favorite drink, feeling the gentle ocean breezes and watching and hearing each new ocean wave come to shore!

I have owned this condo since 1999. While I live in Southern California, I have a local property manager on Kauai who will be responsive to your concerns. I visit Kauai, my favorite place in the world, 3 or 4 times a year and never tire of exploring the island. We have been coming to Kauai since 1988 for vacations and now that we are semi-retired, we have been spending our winters here. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your lovelly, beautifully furnished condo. We especially love the nautical motif, but the best part of all is how the ocean seem like an extension of the living room; how calming is the sound of the waves. We love to sit and watch spouting whales. Especially beautiful is the full moon over the water. Just fantastic! Mahalo, we hope to come back and stay here again!

Best condo on Kauai!

We read the prior reviews and decided to try Craig's condo for our first visit to Kauai. When we visit Kauai in the future we will definitely schedule when Craig's unit is available. Location is the best for all Kapa'a amenities. Unit is very clean, quiet, and well furnished with very nice decor. We loved being right on the beach and watching people swimming, fishing, biking, and walking by. The balcony is approximately only 100-150 feet from the water. There was plenty of extra linens and towels for our eight night stay. Fast WiFi. One tip: When you arrive, check under the bathroom vanity and kitchen sink. Mosquito repellent, sunscreen, shaving cream, laundry detergent, etc. are left there by prior guests so no need to buy everything you couldn't bring on the plane.

The Pono Kai Resort is beautiful. Sunday and Thursday mornings at 8:00 AM the concierge service puts on an orientation with free coffee and donuts. All the island's tours are described and there is a "two for one" raffle for each tour. Next door to the resort is a good restaurant for breakfast and $5 bike rental. We enjoyed the hot tub and pool after our Aliki Swamp and Hanakapi'ai Falls hikes.

Craig was awesome to work with. Before our trip we exchanged several emails with details about the condo and information on best beaches, restaurants, and activities on Kauai. Craig followed up by mail with a packet of more info and a CD of Hawaiian music which we played on the way to and from the airport. Everything about Craig's condo met or exceeded our expectations.

Don't miss: Street Burger (sit at the bar), $5 fish tacos at Poco Loco (grilled ono), Tege Tege Shaved Ice (real fruit...not corn syrup), and Chicken in a Barrel ($18 chicken for two).

Very nice extremely well maintained ocean front condominium.

The location of this condo is walkable distance to shops and restaurants. A paved trail in front of the property is just a few steps from the property gives you the opportunity to walk or bike along the ocean for about 8 miles. The pictures provided on the listing are accurate and we enjoyed the artwork and furnishings. We met the owner while we there and enjoyed his attitude about taking suggestions for improvements. I would definitely return to this unit and have also recommended it to friends.

Well worth the price.

The owner was very helpful and in getting us prepared for our vacation in Kauai by sending us a packet of information and a music CD. I liked that it was centrally located to the Farmer's Market and the grocery stores. We were able to save a lot of money by making our own food. You can't go wrong with fresh ingredients available. We did splurge on a dinner at the Beach House in Poipu. I had made reservations but they still seated at a poor table with a blocked view. The service and food was good, but the inconsiderate hostesses left a bad taste in our mouth. We did attend an orientation at the resort, with an opportunity to get a 2 fo1 for the many activities on the island. We did not win, but we did have them set up our activities which freed us time to explore. We did two activities - the Napali Coast Tour and a kayak adventure on the Wailua river. As a first time snorkeler, I enjoyed swimming in Lydgate which is close by. When I go back, I will probably do more snorkeling. There is air conditioning in the bedroom which is great for us who are not used to the humidity when we are sleeping. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. It was nice to have a place to relax when we wanted to and we had everything we needed. Bonus: There as a fresh herb garden near the reception area. We were able to pick basil and rosemary for our meals. The owner was also very prompt in refunding our cleaning deposit.

Incredible place for our honeymoon

The resort was in excellent condition. View from our lanai was awesome. We saw several beautiful sunrises. Pool & hot tub were a great place to chat with people and hear about stuff to try out and places to go on the island. We loved our week here.

Awesome condo, conveniently located.

We were thrilled with all aspects of the Kapaa-area condo. It had everything we needed, including a gorgeous view, and plenty of stores and restaurants nearby. Very grateful for the AC in the bedroom!! Great pool area, lots of activities. Bike rentals right across the street. Easy drives to amazing beaches in the Poipu area to the south and the Princeville area to the north. Thanks, Craig!!
